Head and Shoulders shampoo seems to help

I'm 46 years old and I have had KP on my upper arms, thighs and rear end as long as I can remember. See below for my experience with Head and Shoulders Classic Clean shampoo.

Recently, I underwent a very unpleasant 4 months of dealing with a folliculitis on my upper back which had never been there before. It just suddenly appeared. The dermatologist (very unsympathetic) put me on steroid cream which resulted in a severe 3 month bout of steroid acne. The two derms I saw were dismissive and told me that acne just appears in middle age sometimes. They saw it everyday. Of course, I hadn't seen it everyday until a few months ago, but they could care less. One doc wanted me to use minocycline for 2 months before I bothered her again.

After I realized I would get no help from the dermatologists, I started searching the web. On Acne.org, I saw a thread that recommended Head and Shoulders Classic Clean shampoo to help with folliculitis and acne. I had nothing to lose. It decreased the severity as well as the time that pimples hung around and cleared up the steroid acne in about a month. I use it twice a day to wash my upper back.

I decided to give it a shot on my arms and legs. I think it has really helped with the number of "bumps" and those red "dots" under the skin that are always there even if I don't have "bumps". I was only using it a few times a week on my arms and legs, but just started using it twice a day. I've been using Lubriderm for a few years and I think it also helps. I'm continuing to use the Lubriderm after bathing.

Hope this helps someone.

I've always used that shampoo for my hair because it's the only one that doesn't make me feel like a greasy monkey....lol

Are you saying that you used the shampoo in place of and like soap or body wash?

Head and Shoulders body wash and Lubriderm

For areas with KP, I am using the Head and Shoulders, Classic Clean (more as a paste than a body wash) twice a day. I had been using it a few times a week, and just started the twice a day routine when I noticed it seemed to help the KP. I apply it directly from the bottle and let it sit until I am finished bathing/showering. Then rinse.

I think H&S helps decrease the number of "bumps" and also those red "dots" under the skin that are there all the time, even when I don't have "bumps".

I am continuing to use a pumice stone, gently, a few times a week. I also continue to use Lubriderm after bathing. I happened on to the Lubriderm a few years ago and all by itself, it really helped smooth my skin. I think H&S makes the skin feel smoother too.
I found out about Head and Shoulders on Acne.org when I was looking for something to help my steroid acne.

Let us know if it works for you.
