my test results

In case anyone is interested, these are my results from the test that I had done. Keep in mind that everyone is different, and do not exlude these from your diet because these results are for my body only........

In the Dairy and egg category: tested for 10 total

my results: negative for cheddar cheese/cottage cheese/goat milk/whey/yoghurt.......tested really negative for pasteurized milk/lactose

Grains: tested for 13 total

my results: negative for barley/oats and tested really negative for gluten/corn/wheat

nuts and seeds: 13 total

my results: negative for peanut/pecan/sesame/sunflower/walnut

fruits: 25 total

my results:
negative for grapes/grapefruit/lemons/pear/pineapple/plum/strawberry

Vegatables: 37 total

my results:negative for broccoli/cauliflower/celery/lettuce/parsnip/peas/potato/spinach

Meat and Seafood: 13 total

my results: negative for beef/flounder/oysters/lobster/crab/tuna

Miscellaneous: 20 total

My results: negative for sugar/coffee/black tea/chocolate/sacharin/red wine and really negative for vinegear.

I share this to open your mind to other possibilites. In my case what I tested bad for was my staples, it is what I had usually eaten.

Your results will obviously differ from mine, but considering the cost vs. benfits it is kind of a no brainer.

I also had a transformation in my energy level and sleep patterns. I never realized how lacking of energy I had as I didn't know any different.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea of how you can transform your whole body by avoiding foods you are sensitive to.

Hope these results give you some insight into what foods exactly were causing my problems.

this makes a lot of sense!! im currently pregnant and found anything with real milk (even some cookies =( ) make my face/body break out with not kp or acne, but horrible boils!! it took me 4 months to figure it out..and my doctor said that pregnancy magnifys a lot food sensitivitys to full blown allergies....do normal doctors preform tests like this? i emailed a "wellness center" asking if they preform the test, i am soo certain that this is not a hereditary disease, as soon as this baby pops out (1 more month) i am sure going to get this test done so I can be ready for summer!!
thanks for ur post

Hi there Baronster,

I do not have much time to post my ‘Vegatest’ results in great detail, however, I am actually allergic to Dairy - in particular milk (lactose) and nuts (except for almonds), as well as beef, chicken, turkey and pork. I am also allergic to mandarin, orange, grapefruit and figs (I love figs)!

I cannot believe my results. I love all dairy foods and always assumed I had an issue with caffeine – but this is not this case.

I quickly read another readers suggestion that ‘calcium’ plays an important role with KP. Maybe this is the common factor here. In any case, I will have to eliminate dairy from my diet and compensate with calcium supplements.

What do you think – are dairy and red meat the common denominators?

Good grief, baronster, what DID you eat then? That's so many (normally good for you) foods to avoid! How long till you were you allowed to reintroduce those foods back into your diet?

Home Testing Kit: Food Allergies/Sensitivity

While doing research on other viable food sensitivity tests, I came across the ALCAT test. There is a website that sells Home Testing Kits for under $10.00. This might be a viable option for people who aren't able to locate someone in their area to perform the test or have financial issues, that would render the testing unaffordable.

Unfortunately there's also a $99 lab fee, in small print of course...

Home Testing Kit: Food Allergies/Sensitivity (Con't)

Upon further review of the advertisement, there is a $99.00 lab charge to run the ALCAT test on your blood sample, along with the $8.99 for the kit itself. However, it's still very affordable, considering it may provide you with the dietary knowledge to rid yourself of KP.

I'm going to have the Electro Dermal Test (Vega Test) and the ALCAT tests(using one of these home testing kits), to see how in-sync the test results are. The common denominator foods will be a definite no-no.

Im still waiting to hear back from the naturopaths (doesnt that make them sound like some kind of alien species?) but have made an appointment for a consultation with an Epilight Clinic they specialise in skin problems and do the ALCAT test. Im seeing them in two weeks but am going to cut out wheat and dairy till then, Iv noticed that when I eat junk my arms get worse and I must say that I hate fish it makes me feel ill but have been forcing myself to eat salmon once a week and my arms have improved slightly especially my left arm, however I cannot not face a lifetime of wearing one sleeved tops so roll on testing time!
Baronster I used to have the same problem with hairdressers and now I have found a wonderful one unfortunately for me everyone agrees so it is virtually impossible to get an appointment, I hope its not the same with the naturopaths!

SkinE, that's wonderful you're willing to have both tests done and share the results. Sounds like a sensible approach, too!

pepper7, fish like orange roughy and tilapia are considered very mild. We love fish grilled! Here's a site that lists mild fish types with recipes. http://www.recipezaar.com/cookbook.php?bookid=43019

I am so glad you got the test done. I wnt to remind you it is not an allergy, it is a sensitivity to that food, allergies don't go away, food sensitivities do.

My doctor says the common denominator for KP is ususally wheat and dairy.

They seem to be the biggest aggrivators. Everyone is different, every body is different, that is good that you tested yourself because you really can't guess what is causing your inflamation.

As far as replacements for dairy I found some yummy alternatives. Check out soy milk it is loaded with vitamins and nutrients, in Vancouver I tried a few brands and liked them.

I also found a product called "better than cream cheese" and it is. (soy based)

I found a soy based cheese that you can shred like cheese and melts like cheese, tastes like cheese.

So there is lots of choices to replace your dairy. Watch out for most soups in restaurants and grocery stores, they all use milk to thicken.

Starbucks has soy milk, you just have to ask them. (Is starbucks coffee there?)

I can't imagine a western style doctor doing this test, as it is not taught to them.

I am positive you would have to see a naturopath in your area.

My doctor says she has a patient that was on a waiting list for a hip replacement, took the test and found out over the months that is was a horrible sensitivity to potatoes. When she completely eliminated them, her hip healed completely and she has cancelled her surgery.

She is now a testimonial on my doctors website, I am going to be another testimonial on her website.

I suggest your body is telling you something, and you should probably listen.

I found all sorts of replacements for foods at health and organic stores, they seem to have lots of products without, wheat , gluten, and lactose, and so on.

for example i found a rice pasta, that had no gluten/wheat/additives that was so good that I fooled guests when they came for lunch, they had no idea that they were eating rice pasta.

I ate lots of chicken and pork and turkey, and some fish, prawns, and etc...

I still wanted to eat sandwichs so I found bread made with other grains, spelt and kamut........that are so good that I continue to eat this bread even though wheat has cleared for me. You won't find the brand I bought as it is made locally in small batch's.

There was a subtitute for everything, it just takes some time and commitment and a willingness to experiment. I now have altered the way I eat permanently, I choose lots of different foods, insteading of sticking to the old favorites.

Barronster, what happens now if you eat the food you used to be sensitive to? How long did you have to avoid them in order to stop being sensitive to them?

I forgot to answer your question about time to clear.

I retested 6 weeks later and every fruit cleared, all of the nuts cleared, some of the veg, red meat, red wine, chocolate, coffe and tea, cottage cheese, goat cheese, whey and yogurt.

So I could introduce these back one at a time, not everthing at once.

I still had to avoid sugar so i still didn't eat some of these foods as sugar is a main ingredient.

skinE and pepper7: I can't wait to see your results form the test, if everyone posts then maybe we can see some common dem. I am going to guess before the results come out that everyone with KP has dairy issues. I am no doctor, but it is a gut feeling.

The other part to the vega test that was important to me was the candida yeast level in my intestines. I had a gross amount 24 out of 30. My doctor says that anything under 10 is normal, but we could shoot for as low as we can go.

She says you get yeast from taking antibiotics and it feeds on sugar. My final test showed a 4 out of 30. Which my doctor says is the best out of any patient she has had.

Google "candida yeast" and it's effects on your body, you will be glad to get rid of it.

To get rid of the yeast I had to starve it from sugar, and I took some yeast killers that my doctor prescribed.
