Wow, a lot has been happening in this thread!
I have tried the only naturopathic doctors living within a reasonable driving distance from me, and neither of them give the vega test. This is very depressing, because after reading the masses of material this thread has provided..it would be in my best interest to find out what my food sensitivities are. As you have mentioned, Baronster, some of the 'good-for-you' foods can be in the #1 spot for being sensitive to! From your link to the LGS, I am positive Candida is a HUGE problem for me. One of the symptoms is anxiety/panic attacks. Well, I have suffered from panic attacks for 24 years. It has destroyed the ability to live life to its fullest, at one point I was almost agoraphobic. Even now I can hardly drive...especially over bridges. I can't even tell you how despairing I find life to be. A psychiatrist put me on Paxil. I was on that for 2 years and went from 117 (after my 5th child) to around 150. I'm 5' on a good day . So now I have a weight problem added to the misery. I can't take any more anxiety medicines because of a rare problem...horrible shortness of breath--I couldn't even talk without gasping for my next breath.Sorry to just go on and on!! Anyway, to cut this long story short...from your LGS suggestion, I've come up with something.....a product called Threelac. I'll try to link it to the site I felt had the best info regarding it. http://www.candidafree.net/?gclid=CI...FSNbUAodBCvPfQ Not knowing what my food sensitivities are, I'm just trying to not eat/drink dairy, sugar, and wheat products.....this just about eliminates eating altogether! ha ha I've really enjoyed reading everyone's posts. Thank you so much. |

got a vega test done
Hi Baronster / all,
Well, the naturopathic doctor I was speaking to via email stopped replying, after a bit of research i realised I would be getting home blood tests sent through which would then go to a lab, and the same for candida tests (about £90 total, and a waiting period). So not too bothered about that failed lead. On monday I phoned Holland & Barret but person said they weren't sure when the test could next be done. It is a team that travels from shop to shop, so at least they should be experienced though. He said it was "popular" (which to me was a negative) and took my phone number. Said it was about every 2 months they stopped by. I just pictured getting in there, queuing and then leaving 20 minutes later with a list of stuff I wasn't supposed to be eating for x amount of months...scary. Probably not as bad as that, but it's possible. I found a doc though! Wasn't on the link i posted (society of naturopathic doctors..but is qualified and had bundle of certificates on her wall to testify as much). I found by googling vega test and my area/country, googling naturopathic and my area etc..only a two hour drive, but after speaking to her (she matter of factly told me it was a vitamin deficiency over the phone). It was £50 for a two hour consultation/test, tested for vitamin deficiencies as well. After reading all the negatives about vega tests online was interested to see how she would perform the test. At the beginning she said she wouldn't be telling me what substance was testing when, and that there were several different ways to perform the test. She tested some foods several times (especially ones i was sensitive to), adjusted the equipment quite often and at one point got me to drink a glass of water to help conductivity. (she had said on monday that i should drink as much water as possible day before and day of my vega test *a note incase anyone else doesnt get told that). She was really nice and quite enjoyed my test. To cut my long story short, I am sensitive to the same foods as some of you guys. *Wheat, *Yeasts, Oats, Sugar (hopefully that one will go away) *COWS MILK Pork Tartrazine (colouring) Tea (Noooooooo!) Chocolate (slightly, also not so good) Was lacking in all Vitamin Bs, vitamin A, and slightly on C and potassium. Have a nice diet sheet planned out, soya milk with my rice crispies, etc. Will let you all know how it progresses. Starving already and need to hit the store pronto. Before pics have now been taken p.s. doc said that she had seen similar skin once before, on a guy who grew up on a dairy farm. his parents refused to believe milk was bad for him, he had a blood test and it confirmed it, she then treated him successfully, or she aluded to that outcome anyway. |

I am thinking your doctor realized right away you have a candida problem, and isn't thinking about the LGS......so why don't you just take the test......the foods you test senstive to, will be the same ones he told you not to eat, plus more.......if you have more than 12 senstivities you need to be treated for candida and LGS, which is not a big deal.
then say 6 weeks later, if you are really good about eating, go for a re-test.....then we can talk about your last test maybe 8 weeks after that depending on your first results. If your doctor has been doing tests for 20 years I am positive that he/she can treat LGS too.....the bonus is with the test you know what your yeast score is...so you can gauge later how good you are doing. let us know what happens |

that must have been amazing to read about candida and figure out that is your true problem, and there is nothing wrong with you mentally, and your physical state can be healed in just a few months....
I was put on Paxil, and a slew of other anti-depresssants for years, I found paxil to be the absolute worst!!!!!! Don't worry about not being able to take the test, there is other ways for you....go to your local library and look up books on candida cleansing, they should have meal plans and recipes too. I have one right in front of me, it is very good, but it is published locally by a docotor here in British Columbia, and it jives with everything I have learned... Eat a diet of 80% alkaline or neutral foods, and not more than 20 % of acidic foods.....for example most proteins are considered acidic, except almonds andwalnuts, hazlenuts, sesame seeds. Don't eat sugar or tropical fruit or bananas, grapes, pineapple, mangoes, dates/figs,pasta,fruit juices, raisins, mushrooms, dairy, wheat products, no peanuts or oily nuts, the super foods while trying to cleanse are cod, red snapper, sole, halibut, sea bass, slamon, etc, NOT SHELLFISH.....if you eats these and other types of fish, you can eat as much as you want, even if it over the 20% ratio. the other super foods are almonds, buckwheat, brown rice, millet, chives, garlic, ginger, onions(including leeks, green onions, shallots, etc.)herbal teas, and water.....They are a million veggies to choose from, instead of eating potatoes...eat yams or sweet potatoes, avoid spinach as many people are testing sensitive to it.....All berries are excellent(strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc) peaches, pears, nectarines, tomatoes(fresh only), squash, no corn though, that is another that tests bad for most kp'ers. if you want I give detailed infor just mail me baronster@shaw.ca . If you do the diet along with killing off the yeast as per that supplement your site mentioned, you should be in good shape in no time! Thanks for that link, it had really good info about candida. |

soulbread
Wow, I am gald you joined the group.....you write very informative posts.
Did you read my dialogue with my doctor on previous pages, she stated that if you don't have LGS, and you have sensstivities, your KP is a result of vitamin defiency, your doc picked up on that right away. just for fun soulbread go look at your tongue in the mirror.....I bet you it is cracked, not smooth, that is another sign of a vitamin defiency, mine was super cracked and kind of yellowish(should be pink) it took about 4 weeks for my tongue to heal to normal condition. Well can't say I am surprised at your test results, same as the rest of us Kp'ers....at least you don't LGs or candida problem to contend with......you should heal nicely. I thought the price you paid was incredibly econimical for 2 hours of consult and testing.......I am also very happy it was a positive experience, I think it was wise of you to go with your gut and keep searching instead of giving up, or going to the first place that said that could help you. can't wait to hear updates ![]() |

Hi, again!!
Just wanted to point out that in the last part of the candida link's homepage did you notice Mark Cobb mentioned that his "goosebumps" were almost gone, then he edited it to say they were entirely gone! What do you want to bet he was talking about KP? I ordered this product and just started my first dose today. Am anxious to see if it works! Thanks for responding, Baronster; sent you an email ![]() |

Long post beginning.....
I wasn't kidding when i'd said I was running out of patience. After my last post, i've continued to search and search online for somewhere I could go for some comrehensive evaluation of ALL of my issues. I also seemingly have hypothyroidism which is common in people who suffer from celiac disease (gluten allergy)....and gluten is also a very common trigger for KP symptoms as well.. Anyways, I found a doctor at Swedish hospital in DT seattle who specializes in food allergies and food intolerances. His focus is mainly IBS as he himself was diagnosed with IBS and through his own research, was able to cure his symptoms by determining which foods his body was either sensitive or allergic to. He also does alot of work with hypothyroidism and definitely with candida, etc. http://www.ibstreatmentcenter.com/index.htm I am waiting to be contacted by the Tahoma Clinic for my Vega test and so have also made an appt with Dr Wangen at Swedish (he did pre-med but is also an ND grad from Bastyr). Their website is actually another good resource for folks on food elimination diets, etc even though it's targeting IBS sufferers (yes, unfortunately I have some of that too). I'm interested to see the differences in what I test for with both the blood test and the Vega test. What's another test when i've already had umpteen thousand, right? I want to get the full meal deal testing and figure this out already!!(horrible analogy considering i'll prob be on the rhubarb and dirt diet after this week). ![]() My appt is tomorrow, i'm making a list of all of my symptoms and history, here is the recipe of what i'll be doing: Blood Draw, Comprehensive Food Allergy Panel*, Comprehensive Stool, Bacteria, Yeast and Parasitology x3, and Celiac Disease Testing. *The Comprehensive Food Allergy Panel is a blood test and includes testing for the following: Standard Food Allergy Panel + 24 Spices and 24 Herbs + 15 Vegetable Add-on.... Foods Included in the Standard Food Allergy Panel: Dairy: Cow's milk, whey, casein, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, goat's milk. Meat and Poultry: beef, chicken, lamb, pork, eggs white (chicken), egg yolk (chicken), turkey. Grains: amaranth, barley, buckwheat, corn, gliadin (wheat), gluten (wheat), oat, rice, rye, spelt, whole wheat. Seafoods: lobster, clam, cod, crab, halibut, oyster, salmon, shrimp, snapper, sole, tuna Vegetables: asparagus, avacodo, broccoli, beet, bell pepper (green), cabbage (white), carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, garlic, lettuce, mushroom, olive (black), onion (white), potato (white), pumpkin, radish, spinach, squash (green), squash (yellow), sweet potato, tomato, zucchini squash. Nuts: almond, coconut, filbert, peanut, pecan, sesame, sunflower seed, walnut Legumes: green pea, kidney bean, lentil, lima bean, peanut, pinto bean, string bean, soy bean. Fruits: apple, apricot, banana, blueberry, cherry, grape (red) grapefruit, lemon, orange, papaya, peach, pear, pineapple, plum, raspberry, strawberry. Miscellaneous: coffee bean, cocoa (chocolate) bean, honey, baker's yeast, brewer's yeast, sugar cane. Oh goodie, and after reading the list again, yep, rhubarb and dirt aren't on so i'll probably be in the clear for keeping those in my diet. ![]() Take care all, will continue to keep you posted! |

I am glad to see you still have a sense of humour, even when you are feeling frustrated...
I went through your doctors website, and liked it very much, i looked at the supplements and they are the same brands as i was prescribed. i didn't understand one thing though........from what I read you will be tested for food allergies AND sensitivities...ige and igg reactions, he talks about the difference between them, but my question is does he give you results separately for both allergies and sensitivities? I guess he must? Sounds to me like you are taking your health into your own hands and covering all of your bases, which is great, because it will be so nice to see all of ailments heal with the same type of treatment. He doesn't mention LGS on his site, but he did have good products to heal the GI tract, and he had the exact same formula for the good bacteria for your gut that I took.....so I think you found a winner, maybe it meant to be this way? sounds like he has covered all the bases with his approach to healing. did you know that IBS is also an autoimmune disease, so everything you are suffering is all related. Which is really good actually. Good luck for tommorrow, let us know how the appointment goes... don't be too discouraged about the food thing, honestly it is not that bad, it seems that way at first. ![]() |

Hi, Shellim4...
The product is Threelac and the link is on post #346 at the very top of this page. I realize this is early days...but I've been having terrible problems with rashes on my neck and chest (not KP, just a blotchy type of rash) I got up this morning and noticed my neck and chest is clearing--even my face. I really think this stuff is working!!! I want to say that I didn't order Threelac from the Cobbs, I got it much cheaper from another source (if you google threelac you'll find alot of other sites that sell it for under 50 US dollars, not including shipping; but its a 2 month supply). There are 60 packets and you can take more than 1 packet a day, but I'm starting out slow. I just felt like the site I've linked up there is the best I've read on the subject. Along with my KP I suffer from severe panic/anxiety. I'm hoping to kill many birds in one stone with this Threelac!! I'll let everyone know how it goes (if you're interested)! |

leprachaun and others
please please read the link posted on #346 by cinnamon on candida, it is very informative, let me know what you guys think.
If you suspect you have candida, there is also a good website that you can download a e-book for 39.oo american, on how to permantly rid yourself of this. www.yeastinfectionsnomore.com it acutally gives you 5 books for that price. but if you are suffering and can't get treated from an N.D. and want a compliment to the supplement threelac, it is very good reading and valuable information on how to keep it from ever coming back. |

. So now I have a weight problem added to the misery. I can't take any more anxiety medicines because of a rare problem...horrible shortness of breath--I couldn't even talk without gasping for my next breath.
