I want everyone with KP to be happy too....I don't want to be the only one who conquered KP, I wnat you to wear whatever you feel like that day, show your skin in all situations , go to the pool, go to the beach, buy summer clothes, and not have this affect your emotional state, as it affected every aspect of my life.

There is obviously no phyisical pain with KP, it is all emtional. I am on this forum to help others free themsselves of this pain we endure, it is not neccessary, it is curable.

i wish you all the luck in the world and god bless you too.

Brittkp, Hi dont be so hard on yourself! We have been discussing ways to treat/ hide our KP as well. Have you tried fake tans? or Fade Out Cream, its fades redness on the body Baronster had really good results with Loreal cream.I always feel better if i know that my KP is if not gone then at least covered. I also use products by www.Dermadoctor.com especially designed for KP and had good results with them the creams and the exfoliation are great.
Dont hide your arms or legs in the summer as the sun will help your skin, it always works for me.
We are all getting Vega tests have you got a place where you could get one done? I feel really bad for you as I know how much KP can kill your self confidence but remember that Kp does not define who you are and if you think about all the positive things rather than focus on the KP it might help, whenever I feel bad about my KP it looks worse its strange but true anyway lately I have been trying to focus on all the good stuff about me and I feel a lot better about myself as a person.
I really hope some of what you read helps you and welcome to the forum.

hey brittkp

You shouldn't be hard on yourself. I have hardly any confidence because of my KP too. I used to think that people would laugh if I wore short sleeved shirts but people don't even notice and if they do and say anything to me I just ignore it.
I don't want to have it forever. I really want desperately want to get rid of it for good but until them I'm trying to build my confidence by wearing whatever I want.

xx

I know exactly how you feel...I let my KP run my life and let it control what I did and what I didn't do in high school...I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF FOR THAT NOW!!! Listen to me when I say DONT LET IT STOP YOU FROM JUST BEING YOU! I missed special events like my Sr. Prom...going out with friends...or just getting close to somebody...I wish I could take it all back!!!!!! I now know that people really don't care! If they ask just tell them what it is...or just say its from allergies or something (That's what I do if I don't feel like exlaining it!) Im in college now and my KP is a little better...still not gone and sometimes I won't wear a t shirt, but my fiance (my high school sweet heart) is always there to remind me that IT DOESNT MATTER!! And DONT WEAR JACKETS OR LONG SLEEVES ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried tanning????

Thumbs up wow - let's get tested - death to KP!

Hi all, found this site only yesterday and have so far spent about 10 hours trawling these huge topics (turquoises AHA treatment, Kebod's Oil Pulling, and this LGS/vega testing one). i have no idea what brought me here. I learned the termanology for the condition only a few months ag, after googling. Then decided to check again and found here, a haven.

I found this site (it doesn't seem to have been posted for uk peeps). Like the uk society and can search by area:
http://www.naturopathy.org.uk/county.asp

I figured out Holland & Barrat, 15 minutes before i read what was posted, after pepper's first mention of it. One only 15 miles from me. Beware though, check this link. Read the comments at the bottom, it is balanced, but poor testing will give poor results. I'm glad pepper got somebody with 15 years experience.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/insideout/south...ga_tests.shtml

I also emailed my nearest naturopathic doctor. She came back to me this morning with her phone number and seemed really helpful. She did say however, that she cannot offer the vega test, but that she can do a blood test.."which is far more accurate". BUT earlier in this topic Baronster's doctor said (and i quote), blood test had "variable accuracy". Maybe you could ask your doctor why this is the case? I'm actually worry now about which route to go with...do i save a bit of money and DIY with vega test and self diagnosis?

"We don't do a Vega test as such, but we do offer a food intolerance test that tests a blood sample. This is considered to be more accurate. Please have a look at our website: www.blossomhealth.com. We test for 46 foods and can also offer a Candida test."

It says 59 foods (and not 46) in food intolernece test (http://www.blossomhealth.com/service...ce-testing.asp) but will let the doc off.

So Doc says I can mail back a blood sample. I'm thinking of doing both this and vega test. That would be a good way of getting a control. The last thing I want to dwell on is accuracy of the test.. Do you think she will charge more for getting a candida test done too?

Urgh, so much to consider. Need to get some oil anyway asap, start chugging that

Thanks for all the posts so far, from everyone! I'm a week or so away from sorting everything out but I'll be another guinea pig. lived with this for too long. Will do before and after(?) pics, progress reports etc.

About me: male, 25, scotland. Quite severe (arms, legs, torso, bum/butt). I have olive-y skin and tan really well. I actually have slightly thin eyebrows on the outer third..so i learned today i have two conditions of kp..but dont suffer any spots or redness (again maybe due to skin type). It started when i was 12, on my legs, then developed from there to arms. Back and chest later. Like many of you it seems, it has gradually got so many of my leg follicles are like red dots, bloodflow can make them purpley (did that also clear for you Baronster?).

Sorry for long post, look forward to chatting to some of you more about different treatments, gonna give this one last (final?) fight and see if it can be beaten.

For baronster

I havnt read all 20 odd pages of this thread, but i have a couple questions for baronster. Im a 15 year old girl with kp all my life and all over my body, do you think age would get in the way with these food tests or does it not matter, i live near vancouver in the gulf islands, so i could go over to van easily. another one is i have redness on my face, its probably the kprf but its not bumps its just rough and gets red with most environments, do you think the cutting back on foods i tested negative for would help that as well. Sorry if you have already answered some of these questions before but it took me a long time to read 8 pages, i couldnt read them all. but your story is awesome and gives me hope to get rid of this so thanks soo much for sharing it!!

Hello everyone. I use to start getting really rough on my face, so I started using products from Wei East, because it is natural, and it helped and my skin on my face is really smooth. The problem is my arms and legs. I have tried Loreal ReFinish: Chest, Arms, and Hands. It actually didn't help that much. I have been exfoliating for quite a bit now, and it helped a little, and I have tried Lubriderm, and a bunch of other things that I can't remember. I never really worried about it until 6th grade, when my friend saw it and poked it and said, "Oh my gosh, eew, what is that?" and I just felt like everyone noticed it probably, and everyone was thinking eew. And, also, because I picked at a couple of them, it looks like I have some type of disease, and I don't like it when people stare at me. It makes me feel really uncomfortable. Although, I think my mom is going to try to see about getting me a vega test, because you had lost your KP and lost some weight and honestly, I need to lose my KP and some weight. I weigh like...almost 150 pounds. I never get boyfriends either, and each time they like my friend better, I ask them why and every response is, "It's not that your fat, she is just skinnier." Ok, I'm getting off subject. Haha. Anyways, thank you all for your support!

Actually pepper didn't go to H and B. She found an independent health store by chance. Maybe that big chain isn't as good as independent doctors and health store, but it doesn't hurt to go to your nearest store and ask questions, find out who does the tests, how long have they been doing, and that sort of thing.

I am glad you offering to be a guinea pig, the more the merrier.

I asked my doctor about blood test vs. vega, she said in her experience that vega is more accurate and gives candida score, also the test determines what supplements are appropriate as well, so if you find this test I highly suggest this route, besides I was tested for 138 foods. I tested bad for 38 of them, so it is nice to know exactly what your body is sensitive to.

Yes I had purply, red, dots, that were very inflamed. If I squeezed them, A lot of white stuff or conical plugs would pop out of them, I aslo had major ingrown hairs that were very fine in practically every pore on my legs and lower arms. I now have a faint trace of very light pink left on my legs. I firmly believe that in the next few months that will go away as well, as I had serious KP for 21 years so it only stand to reason that my body needs time to heal.

So do some homework and ask questions to find the best route for you, and thanks again for offering to help out on this forum, as I especially interested to see how your UO (eyebrow condition) reacts this treatment.

Oh and thankyou for posting the links that you did......

YES YES YES your age has no bearing whatsoever on this, my doctor says she treats babies and children with LGS all the time, so age is not a factor at all.

It would be really worth it to travel to Vancouver to get tested, obviously I LOVE my doctor so I can recommend her to help you.

She and her husband are away for the next 2 weeks however, back May 3. It is only the husband and wife doctor team at springs eternal, I am seeing the husband currently to help me with emotional issues that are coming up as I lose weight, so I think he is wonderful too.

A father from the states emailed me about his daughter desperate to help her as she has kprf and has self esteem issues, not only did he talk to my doctor he told me that he spoke to 4 other doctors in Minnesota and all fo them told him that her face would clear from food sensitivities.

I never had KP on the face, but at my period time I did break out, not really acne, but just swollen spots like I got stung by a bug or misquito, sometimes I would pick and make a huge mess on my face....yuck I hate those days...

anyways I do not have any skin issues anymore, especially at period time my face is totally normal, so I hope that gives you some hope.

The cost of the first test is $90.00, and consultation afterwards is probably probably around $50.00?

I took 2 re-tests that are $45.00 each. My supplements over the 4 month period were about $200.00 total, maybe less.

If you family has "extended" health coverage (through employment)the tests and supplements might be covered, it depends on the carrier.

Good luck to you, let me know what happens.

soulbread has posted a link to find a naturopath in the UK. I hope you find one that does the vega test. I know that pepper found testing at a health store so that might work too.

God I only wish I were 150 lbs......You are not fat, trust me.......I know guys can be mean, and things they say and do can hurt your feelings, but the point is not to let that affect how you feel about youreslf.

You need to love yourself and others will love you too. People just mirror or reflect how you feel about yourself, so if you feel fat and hideous, that is what you will project, and that is how others will view you.

If you feel good about yourself, and have confidence, and think you are sexy and beautiful, that is how others will percieve you.

I am 5'3'" and I currently weigh 193 lbs. I seriously feel good about who I am, because I take care of myself and eat good food and excericse, and wear nice make up and do my hair sexy, and wear nice clothes, and I can honestly say I can make a guy drool if I want to, obviously not all men, but a lot more than you think.

Now I am way off topic........sorry

Brittkp,

I've had the same problem at school when people ask me what it is. But when I'm not in school no one seems to notice it, but my confidence is still low. I could do with losing some weight, I'm 14 about 5"4 and about 9 and a half stone, (Sorry don't know how much that is in pounds). Also I'm getting braces in 10 weeks so I'll feel like even more of a freak .
I do get some attention from boys but my last boyfriend broke up with my because of my KP. So now I don't want to go anywhere near boys.

xx
