Hi, ruined my no wheat and dairy week with a particularly fabulous weekend away so starting up again tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any good books about wheat/gluten free diets or candida? Im seriously trying to implement changes in my diet but its not easy as Im reading lots of conflicting advice about what I should and shouldnt be eating so if anyone knows of a really good book or website that would be great, plus my boss says Im only doing this diet for attention....she sucks. Got my ALCAT test tuesday but still having trouble findind a naturopath in england so if anyone has found one please let me know. Good Luck guys keep posting the results!

Hi there,
Why don't you try to find an acupucturist? My doctor is also that, and some other members have found the vega test at the acupuncture clinic. let us know. There is some free recipes on www.bobsredmill.com they are an American company........go to the gluten free part, there is lots of recipes to choose from. They would be breads and cookies and so forth. Good luck on your test on Tuesday. |

Depending on where you live in this world I suppose.
So far there seems to be two ways: Naturopathic doctor Accupucture My doctor hasppens to do both. Make sure either can treat "leaky gut syndrome" if you have it, as this was the key to my healing. If you test more than 12 foods on test, and more than a score of 10 on candida yeast level, most likely you are suffering from this too. If you have troubles let me know where you live city/town and state/province/etc and country and I will let you know what I come up with. |

Hi there!!!
I can't comment on the alcat test as no one has reported back about their results YET. I took the Vega test, so if you can find that please try that.....let us know what happens.. |

I was wondering, if it is possible to suffer from LGS or candidas or gluten/lactose sensitivity etc. and not having any really obvious, typical symptoms (or causes on the first place). I hardly find myself in any causes and symptoms, I only suffer from stress, mild depression and skin problems such as severe kp, ingrown hair (but not acne for example). Could kp be the only symptom?

Recommended book
Hi Baronster and everyone,
Since you started this thread, I have been reading more about food sensitivities. I was just given a great book, The Anti-Inflammation and Diet Book by Jessica K. Black, N.D. (published by Hunter House). It is all about how to determine if one has food sensitivities and allergies, what foods to eliminate from your diet, and very good recipes and food tips. For those of you who don't have the vega test available, or don't want to do it, this is a good method to test yourself. The author outlines a 30-day plan of eliminating certain foods, and then introducing them, one at a time, and paying attention to how the body reacts. She includes lots of nutrition information, which would be especially helpful for those not familiar with a natural diet. I have just started her diet, and already feel better. There are many different symptoms caused by food sensitivity, skin disorders, excess mucous, insomnia and digestive disorders being some of them. By eliminating many foods, including the most common offenders such as wheat, dairy, corn, etc., my daily throat clearing has already ended. Baronster, if you have a chance to check this book out, I would be interested in what you think of it. kebod |

What about the red/brown spots?
My KP is located on my legs and upper arms but the worst of it is on my legs. I do not have dryness just bumps mostly and LOTS of red and brown spots all over my legs and I HATE it. I first started to develope this about 9 yrs ago and came out of the dermatologist office in tears because I was told there was nothing I could do. I don't shave because that makes it worse so I wax and use an epilator (always have). I was a girl who always tanned and wore dresses and shorts and then I was told I'd have to live with this ugly "razor burn" or "rash" looking skin. Of course over the years it has gotten worse and the only thing that seems to lessen the discoloration is a suntan (a little) but I hate to tan because then I'd have to put on shorts and expose the red and brown spots... so my question is this: Is there ANYTHING that can help diminish (even a little) the spots? Just enough so that I can feel comfortable enough to put on a pair of shorts this summer? Any advice would help. I was looking into trying a scrub (derma.doc) product but I'm so skeptical. HELP!!

Hi! Three options to consider: self-tanner, Oil Pulling and AHA lotion (alphahydroxy acid lotion). Here are the two threads I've been following closely in addition to this one:
kebod's thread "cured at last" (Oil pulling treatment - specifically post #656 on page #44) discusses Oil Pulling. Tons of people are having good results with this. Helps with bumps more than red/brown dots. Turquois' thread "A CURE ! My search is over." (My search is over!) has suggestions on how to use AHA lotions. Strong stuff, requires some caution, but with summer approaching, some of us are giving it a try. baronster had results pretty quickly from her diet change (6 weeks, I believe), so it's worth giving this approach a try. AHA's can get you results very quickly, but do use this carefully. |

To miserable: I looked up your age and you are very young, so I would say yes to your question......I think if you get to my age 39, and don't treat your problem, you may develop other symptoms besides KP.
Kebod: I will go get that book and let you know what I think....I am glad you are trying this, it shows how open-minded you are. I am not sure how much of this thread you read, but food sensitivity was only part of my healing, I also had to kill the bad bacteria, and replace with friendly bacteria, and took supplements to support my liver in the proccess. RED/BROWN spots: I had the worst spots, mine got larger and larger every year, I used to squeeze the bigger ones, and they got meaner and more inflamed. I had tiny coiled up hairs or white conical plugs residing in my red spots. My bumps are totally gone and my redness is gone by 90 %on my legs and 95% on my arms, stomach and chest and back and sides are 100%, I think that it seems to still get better every day. I believe that the redness is inflamation, and when you rid yourself of what is CAUSING your inflamation your redness will go away. |
