Kebod and others please read
HI Kebod,
I was reading your 44 page post and this chocolate thing you mentioned was the most unbelieveably amusing thing i've ever read! Not becauseit bogus, but because it's true for me too and i can't believe that anyone else has made that correlation. Oh my gosh...it's like only we can really understand each other....I really can't believe other people started to notice the chocolate connection. BUt here's the thing....is it chocolate or is it something else contained in the chocolate....I've been wondering if it's dairy or milk? I have stopped eating dairy for the most part (cheat every now and then) but I don't know if the dairy theory is valid. It's probably true for anything that contains chocolate....and the crazy thing is that any small amount of chocolate can make get new bumps! But how about the sugar and stuff in the chocolate.....how about candies without cholate but sugar....or other deserts that have caramel and stuff.....how does your body react to that? I really wanna know what i can and can not eat so i can stop torturing myself and not eating yummy foods cuase I have this "hunch" that it might be bad for the kp. Any theories on anything else other than chocolate? Any even the chocolate...you know, i'm not so sure...it might be the butter in the chocolate we eat....cause I have noticed that butter seems to have a bad effect on the kp...or so i think at this point. Also, there's so much about oil pulling and I haven't started and am unsure about the basics. Can someone tell me and others about the basics? Also, so i should get pure coconut oil or sunflower oil and start swishing it in my mouth for like 20 minutes.....like i would if i'm gargling and that's all. It's sounds too easy, but it's gonna be hard keeping oil in my mouth that long, i mean you get nauseous and you wanna spit it like after a few minutes no? Do you swish for a few minutes and spit it out and continue doing this for like 20-30 minutes? If you stop doing it for like a day or two do the bumps come back??? So essentially, OP is for life? Thanks a million!!! Daze |

Chococlate bumps
Hi Daisy,
I have no doubt that chocolate aggravates KP for me. It is entirely possible that KP is aggravated by other foods for other people. It is entirely possible that not everyone responds negatively to chocolate like you and I do. And it is possible that other foods as well cause or increase KP. The way to find out would be to go for a month without anything dairy. That means reading the fine print to see what every ingredient is in everything you eat. Then you could re-introduce dairy in your diet and see if your KP worsens. By doing this with one kind of a food at a time, like sugar or artificial coloring, etc., you could tell if other foods also aggravate your KP. Unless we can eat 100% organically, we are not getting a chemical-free diet. In so many areas of our health, we are now paying the price for this food pollution. I know I have a sweet tooth, and it is real hard not to have something sweet every day. Just before I read your post, I ate a couple of spoons of honey ![]() I have started using stevia to sweeten my yogurt, oatmeal and tea instead of sugar or honey. My KP is so low now -- I almost can't notice it -- that it is not worth giving up dairy, or butter, or whatever accounts for what remains of my KP. I don't want to get into the oil pulling procedure here because I don't want to start a second forum for OP. Please go to the OP discussion, and I will post a description on how to do it right now for you. I hope you try it. kebod |

Pure cocoa actually contains substances that is very beneficial for the skin so that´s strange...(I make my own cocoa sweetened with a little bit of honey). I used to be a vegan for about 10 years but it didnt make it better. I think that it´s the refined (or just too much) sugar that makes it worse.

Milk doesn't make my KP worse. I have an obsession for milk, and it never made a difference. Sugarry foods make my KP worse. Alot of other people have reported that cutting back on their sugar help their KP. I'm trying it, and my bumps went down.
And for the OP thing, you don't gargle it. You suck and pull on it; swish it through your mouth. The worse part of it is putting it in your mouth. When I look at it and think about the fact that I'm putting refined oil in my mouth, I want to pour it out. I stick it in my mouth anyway and it tastes a little funky for a minute, but then the taste goes away and it's not hard to swish it because, in a way, it's thinner. I don't get nausia, but some people have to start out with about a teaspoon for 5 or so minutes and gradually increase it to a tablespoon or two for 20 minutes. I do it in the shower, and hardly notice that I'm oil pulling. Hope this helps, Crumbles Last edited by fabio_moo_cow; 03-07-2007 at 10:08 PM.. |
