Smile Intro

Hi I've just joined because my 10 month old grandson was diagnosed today with kp on his face. My 22yr old daughter (his mum) also suffers from this on her arms and legs although until now no doctor has ever told her what it was. This looks like the best place to find out all we can so I look forward to reading everyones posts.

Well i think it might be to early to treat the kp on your grandson but for your daughter have her use Clean&Clear to cleanse the area and you could try using a product containing salicylic acid as that helps me. Use a moisterizer containing urea also as it also helps with me.

Thnx for the advice. She'll certainly try it. The dr has advised gentle exfoliation and use aqueous cream to cleanse and then Lanate face cream after. This contains ammonium lactate. If anyone knows anything bout this I'd love to hear.

Hi, dragynne!

Lots of interesting info on this site and really caring helpful people. I joined last fall after just reading for several months. Found the forum during a frantic search online for KP relief - I've had it for over 30 years and just am so sick of it. I'm hopeful you find help here like I have. Here's what I've found best so far:

Turquois' thread "A CURE ! My search is over." has suggestions on how to use AHA lotions. They've worked better than salicylic acid for me in getting rid of the red dots. I am using products she suggested:
- DCL's "AHA revitalizing lotion 20" (20% glycolic acid) is showing good results for me, even better than
- Neostrata's "Lotion Plus 15 AHA" did.

kebod's thread "cured at last" on Oil Pulling is lengthy (skip to post #656 on page #44 for the concise directions) but people are reporting great results. OP has changed my skin dramatically - got rid of the bumps, much less dryness, smoother wrinkles - I'll be doing OP for life.

baronster's thread worst case of KP cured naturally is new and talks about naturopathic medicine. I'm very intrigued. It may be an alternative for your young grandson.

Has taken patience but, after 30 annoying years of KP, I'm getting pretty excited to see it starting to clear by using AHA lotion and OP! Best wishes to all three of you!

You said that you have the red dots and that they are clearing by using AHA lotions??? Because I too have mainly those ugly red dots and nothing ever worked to get rid of them. How long did it take you to get rid of them/to get them clearer? Because maybe I should look also for such a lotion... I've tried the Neostrata in the past, but that didn't work. Maybe something with glycolic acid will work, I don't know. But I'll try everything....

Thanks for your advice!

My dots are down 50% after 1.5 months of AHA use. Not gone but getting there. The 20% lotion seems to be working. I'm also using spa gloves and sulfur/salicylic acid soap in the shower a couple times a week to help exfoliate (when I have time). I'm hoping I'll just use the 20% lotion to maintain once I have all the old buildup cleared and the dots are gone.

Turquois said to use the AHA lotion twice a day. I may have to go to that but am hoping to not have to. Trying to be patient...
