Question About Red Dots

Like many people in the KP community, I have experienced redness with my KP, but this showed up over time. When I was younger, my KP was made up of white bumps. By my late 20's I had developed redness. By my late 30's I had developed tiny red dots where my white dots used to be.

I've come to think these flat red dots are related to scarring in someway. I'm wondering when the red dots began to appear on other folks? Was it at a later age after several years of the sort of basic white bump KP?

What are the thoughts on these red dots?

Hi Marcy,

I've had the red dots all my life, from 6 years old till now (I'm 24). I've never had the white bumps... Just red ones that feel bumpy on my upper arms, but on the rest of my body they are smooth, just redness...

I hope this can help.

Hi out there!

The red dots are a typical sign or symptom of KP.

I read that they are there because the folicles of your hair are irritated because of the hair stuck in it. There is too much keratin that blocks everything.

I guess (and hope) that those ugly dots will fade when the acid gets there and cleans them. But I think this effect will be the very last of a good treatment because those folicles are so damn deep in the skin and it takes a while until the acid is able to get there.

Just try to get rid of the keratin layer by layer and I guess this will work out!

Good luck and a lot of patience!!!

Jana

upps, I forgot so say that I don´t think the dots have anything to do with scarring. They aren´t scars!
