Regimen - given me best results

Regimen that’s given me best results (Long post Lots of detail be warnedJ)…

Three times a week I use Neutrogena TSal shampoo as a body wash.

I mix it with a little Cetaphil cleanser in my hand then lather it on my thighs, knees and arms. I leave it on for a few minutes while I shave my lower legs and pumice my feet. (I found TSal shampoo while looking for a bodywash with 3 percent or more salicylic acid that was gentle and had no fragrance. After reading the ingredients I thought why not try it. The TSal alone has made a Big difference for me.)

Next, I rinse and use a microfiber washcloth to further exfoliate my arms and legs. I’m very gentle so that I don’t irritate my sensitive skin. I used to use a regular washcloth but using the microfiber cloths improved my results. I got mine from QVC – here is the distributor’s site

I have two cloths and I machine wash them as directed each week to make sure I don’t breed bacteria on them.

After my shower I towel off and apply to my arms and legs Paula’s Choice 2 percent Beta-Hydroxy Gel - http://www.cosmeticscop.com/shop/product.asp?CODE=PC204&PAGETYPE=S

I then apply a generous layer of Complex 15 lotion. I also reapply this lotion on other days too. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=16833&catid=10401&trx=GFI-0-EVGR-49973&trxp1=10782&trxp2=16833&trxp3=1&trxp4=419&bt rx=BUY-GFI-0-EVGR-49973

I’ve been doing this now for six months – now my kp is controlled with remaining faint pinkish dots – versus the red rash-like bumps that I had before. The red marks appear to be getting fainter so I hope that with continued diligence they will fade. I can now wear short sleeves without much concern at the gym.

Background: I have medium KP that became an issue in my thirties when I completely stopped tanning – I used to do a beach vacation once a year and so after and before it I’d try to get some sun Never a scary tanner – always protected my face – but my fair skin would be toasty for about a month out of the year. That kept my KP at bay – just a little LacHydrin during the other months and I was fine. However, my rosacea showed up in my early thirties (that’s a whole other quest – but I have finally gotten it to a manageable stage as well). Anyway, managing rosacea means avoiding the sun. So my KP became worse and worse. I’ve tried and retried the usual stuff, Retin-A, Tazorac, Salex, LacHydrin - all of these did nothing or made my sensitive skin very irritated (even with very cautious use). Other stuff I tried like loufas, puffs (both are bacteria havens), sulfur washes, sulfur soaps (any bar soap is too alkaline to be good for skin), etc. all proved irritating to my skin and made my KP even redder. Finally after backing off and then systematically add things that I knew were gentle and effective I found what worked for me. I did lots of research and trail and error. As you all know, KP is very frustrating so even though this is just my perspective and what works for me – I hope that some of my experience proves helpful someone.
