Anyone Notice KP is worse in Winter?
About 2 months ago I started using Keri Lotion. It's an oil free moisturizer that can be bought at an local store like Wal-Mart, and my dermatologist recommended it after trying every kind of prescription possible.
Anyways, I noticed that when the weather changed here in Flroida my KP got worse on my arms. I've realized my KP is worse in winter when the air is dry, and alot better when I'm out in the sun during the summer when there is humidity and alot of moisture in the air. Anyone else like this?? |

As less sun your skin gets, as worse is the KP.
Just spend one or two days in the sun in summer and you'll notice that your KP is almost gone. Sun is the thing that works best against KP, without any doubts. If you want to get rid of it for a long while, without using lotions or anything, just get out in summer as much as you can. 2-3 weeks of sun will get your KP away for some months. |

That's what I thought, that tanning works like the sun in the summer, but somehow it doesn't. It works a bit, but the way the sun works is way better than tanning.

Re: Anyone Notice KP is worse in Winter?
I never knew i had KP until I went to new zealand! the climate there is pretty cold too...i had kp on my thighs...after three years, i went back to the islands and VAIOLA! 4 months later KP marks were all gone..hair starts growing normally on my thighs, no more black spots (as my skin is dark brown--i suppose I get dark dots instead of red dots). After 2 weeks upon arrival in the States, I started scratching and next thing you know...KP is back! lol. I love the winter and another good thing is that my KP case is only on back of my shoulders and upper-arms now..no longer on my thighs..wierd dont you guys think? I just cant wait for Summer to come around...or maybe i should move back to the islands!

Re: Anyone Notice KP is worse in Winter?
I live in canada and I love winter but I hate how my skin gets. Summers almost here and i want to wear shorts, bathing suits etc...how do u all cope? I just happened to figure out it was KP a day ago, before my doctor told me it was eczema...but that never explained the hair follicle thing...anyways help! my self confidence is nonexistent.

Re: Anyone Notice KP is worse in Winter?
Canadians, fyi: "In June 2007, The Canadian Cancer Society began recommending that all adult Canadians consider taking 1000 IU of vitamin D during the fall and winter months (when typically the country's northern latitude prevents sufficient sun-stimulated production of vitamin D).[29] At latitudes below 30° where sunlight and day-length are more consistent, vitamin D supplementation may not be required.[6] Individuals clad in full body coverings during all their outdoor activity, most notably women wearing burquas in daylight, are at risk of vitamin D deficiency. This poses a lifestyle-related health risk mostly for female residents of conservative Muslim nations in the Middle East, but also for strict adherents in other parts of the world.[30]"
Maybe vitamin D has something to do with it too besides just the dryness. ? - bd |
