To be honest, I've not yet seen anything labelled 'Virgin Coconut Oil'.
There is a big difference between 'Extra Virgin Coconut Oil" and regular coconut oil that is sold for cooking. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (EVCO) is processed from fresh coconuts in small quantities, close to where they are grown. This way it smells and tastes very good, and it retains many of the helpful nutrients. Regular coconut oil for cooking purposes is processed in huge quantities, usually far away from where the coconuts were grown, so it is not fresh, and can taste and smell 'off' This is the reason why people with kp prefer to use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I live in New Zealand in the South Pacific, so it is relatively easy to obtain nice fresh extra virgin coconut oil here, but I note that you live in the US, so you might like to try Wild Oats, Whole Foods or a similar natural foods store. All the best! Annuu ![]() Last edited by Elsa Zoe; 10-15-2007 at 05:10 PM.. |
