Hi! I'm new to this forum and just recently found it this month. I've suffered with KP for as long as I can remember. I'm a 29 yo female. I have an extreme case of KP because it doesn't just cover certain areas of my body. It covers nearly every inch of my body. I have just a little bit on my face but I can conceal it with makeup. Some of the pictures that I'm sharing with you are from my upper and lower arms, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves and side of my torso. Like most on this forum, I am extremely self conscious of this dreaded condition and would like to find a solution to the problem. I have tried everything from AHA's to scrubs to lotions to steroid creams to oils and still, have not found that first thing that seems to help my skin completely.
I've seen several posts from people trying to explain their kp, but I think that visually, we all can benefit from eachother if we can see the severity of the kp from each individual. What works for one person will not work for another. With that in mind, each person's kp varies so if someone has a very mild case and tries something and it works, then it needs to be explained as to how mild or severe the case is that the individual is treating. I think some of us get discouraged when we are reading from different individuals who've had success with certain treatments not understanding that their kp is completely different from our own, and expect the same results. The bottom line is, we are all individuals and not one of us will have the same severity of kp as the other. We need to keep this in mind when we are posting results with treatments. This is why I am posting photos...to give a sense of visual understanding as to the severity of the kp that needs to be treated. My kp needs more aggressive treatment than most. I understand this completely. That is why I am using my photos as a visual aid to some who may not have a clear understanding to what severe kp looks like. I am curious as to what everyone else's kp looks like. I've seen Turquoise's photos...thank you by the way for those. Please feel free to post your photos on this thread. You won't be judged by anyone here. That's what this forum is for. It's kind of like a support group. We all have the same problem, just different levels. http://adobe.kodakgallery.com/Slides...e&conn_speed=1 Last edited by goldman01; 11-27-2006 at 06:05 PM.. |

If I had a digital camera I would post pictures of mine. I was just thinking that I probably have the worst case ever.
I have some places where I don't have it but it's mostly everywhere.. |

I have it on my arms, thighs, and buttocks. If you do not wish to see the last visual, do not click the link. Obviously.

Jaded- My thighs and butt look just like the last picture. The worst part is, that it hurts. I don't know about anyone else, but my kp hurts when brushed against clothing or rubbed in anyway. It's like a burning sensation, probably the best way to explain it. I'd say yours is pretty bad.

Goldman, as far as I know KP isn't supposed to be painful. Maybe you have something in addition to the KP that's causing the pain. Have you asked a derm?

@ mew your comments are not welcomed. Everyone perceives their condition in different ways; this is a supportive forum not a bashing one. |

goldman01, My KP hurts too. I suppose hurt is the incorrect word, irritates is probably better. It is the burning sensation I get when it rubs on clothing, especially my thighs and lower back (when I'm driving and my shirt rubs against my backrest of my seat). It's gotten much better though since I've been using moisturizer provided by my dermatologist (15$ for 8oz jar) and using Cetaphil cleanser which I brush on in the shower. I've also been doing OP with evco, all in all I've seen some relief.

Mew, be careful what you wish for. This thread wasn't posted as a contest to see who's kp is the worst. Obviously anyone who's on this forum has been affected by kp in some way or another. For some people it's life altering and for others it's just a pure annoyance. You come across like you're the only person whose life has been affected by this skin condition. Well guess what, you're not!
To the other posters, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person that has irritation caused by kp. The burn is doubled up with itching. I'm sure that's caused by my extra dry skin on top of the kp. It seems like if I try to moisturize the dry skin, it only irritates the kp that much more. I'd like to find something that can take care of both without causing one or the other to be exaggerated. I've been reading some of the posts about EVCO and am considering giving that a try. I may try the oil pulling as well. At this point, I'm willing to try just about anything to see if it could help. To the female posters, do any of you have kp on your legs and if so is your kp irritated more if you shave? If I shave, it's like having the worst razor burn imaginable. Then my kp becomes much, much more inflamed and irritated. Wish I knew a way to shave without the irritation. (That's why I wear jeans all year long!) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Maybe the EVCO will help...guess I'll wait and see. |

Woofish, I'm glad you have found some sort of relief. I will try the EVCO and OP. It's worth a shot anyway! Thanks for sharing your info.
