Help! Product Results??!!
I am a new member and have been reading the board and tried some of the advice given. For the past 2 weeks I've tried DOVE NUTRIUM on one leg followed by SOUL OWNER lotion. On the other leg, I've tried CETAPHIL cleanser followed by AMLactin 12%. Both legs I used a net sponge. Unfortunately, the red bumps are still bad, and both legs still full of KP. The AmLactin may have worked a bit better on reducing the white stuff in the bumps - but nothing too noticeable.
I have always had KP on my arms, never bothered me because it came and went and wasn't red. However, after having a baby 6 months ago, my thighs, calves and forearms broke out in a horrible RED KP. I thought it was acne due to hormones so tried drying it first with Proactiv and Neutrogena Body Scrub Salyic Acid - I didn't know I was supposed to mosturize and all the buff puff scrubbing made it worse. Also, I was picking them and now I really have a mess. Finally went to a derm, was told it was KP and to try AmLactin and Lachydrin (has anyone used that?) I have now ordered sulphur soap and might start using it with Lachydrin lotion - any advice??? Did the NEUTROGENA BUMP MINIMIZER work for anyone longer term? I have to go on vacation soon and was trying to minimize the redness so i would feel comfortable wearing shorts, can anyone advise what else to try? TANNING - does it ever make the spots darker? That is my fear, it will make my brownish spots (scars???kp??) darker. But, the red is the most noticeable now. THANKS, it is SO GREAT to finally figure out what this is, YET SO DEPRESSING!!!! |

Tanning should be helpful prior to the vacation. It either blended my KP in perfectly or actually got rid of the KP over the summer. I am trying to figure out which.

Hi Noraflan! I had the exact same thing happen to me as well. 6 mos. after having my baby it went all over my legs. I used the Sulfer Soap and scrubed w/ a stiff brush. I saw results within 2 wks. I still use it till this day and that was almost 2 yrs. ago. It's the only thing that keeps the bumps away and has allowed me to wear shorts again and feel good about myself. Hope this helps you out. thank you Kim and Arma for your replies! Kim, when you say a stiff brush - what kind do you use? I am scared of over-exfoliating which seems to make it worse (I went to town with the buff puff and it got worse - of course that was with a different product).

Well, yes it will get worse before it gets better. It's because the brush will open some bumps and they may bleed a bit (like when you pop a zit). Other bumps will be grinded down. I used a large nail brush. Like I said I saw really good results in 2 wks. I may of had some scabs but for the most part the bumps were going. I had tried everything under the sun and wasted so much money and this is the only thing I stick w/. My legs have been bump free for a long while now but I still do scrub w/ the brush and soap for fear that it will come back. It was a miricle for me. If you do use the brush, use it in a circular motion and it will take some getting used to so apply pressure as you can stand it. Don't shave if it does open bumps, let them heal. If your legs are still irritated I would wait until they get better. Use a good lotion, I use Curel Q10. I think I got my nail brush at a Dollar Store. Maybe at first try a softer brush instaed of astiffer one then gradually move on to a more stiff brush. I used this methed on my legs and the backs of my arms, I don't think it should be done on soft skin such as your tummy or chest area. Sorry this is so long! PS I know that there are others from this site that also had success from this method so maybe they could add their two cents as well. Your story just caught my eye because I had the very same thing happen to me. Kim

Just wanted you guys to know that my KP is definitely better with the use of the sulphur soap and the nail brush - so thank you! I am following the soap now by using KP Duty but will switch to the cheaper Neutrogena next. The red is still bad but I guess I'll tan and hope the brown spots don't get browner!

Hi Noraflan! I'm so glad to hear of the good results you are having. If the red dots are bad you can always do the Oxy at night before bed followed w/ a good lotion. I did it for 2 mos. and it really made a world of difference. It made them a freckle color. You may want to hold off on it if you are going to be tanning. Kim

I'm still on board with the sulfur soap, Dove Nutrium, and Curel Q10. Tanning lightly works best for me on the redness.
