How to treat Asian skin?
I am the non-Asian mother of a 5yr old Asian girl who has just been diagnosed with KP. At 1 yr old, we were told she had ezcema, so I've been trying to treat that for the past 4 years. Last winter, we moved from Virginia to Buffalo, NY (don't ask why...one has to follow one's paycheck...). My daughter's skin suddenly got all of these mysterious bumps, everywhere! The doc still said ezcema, and recommended Eucurin Plus. That helped for a little while, but not a lot. The doc we saw today called it KP and recommended, from his own personal experience, Neutrogena Acne Wash for her whole body, applied with a Buf-puf, and to moisturize within 3 minutes of stepping out of a bath with Lacticare. I couldn't find Lacticare, but I found a 5% solution of Lac-Hydrin.
I do know that Asian skin has different needs and our ped in Va was Asian, so I trusted her recommendations for skin creams. This new recommendation came from a caucasian doc. Does anyone out there know if this will harm my daughter's beautiful brown skin? Thanks, Jana |
