My dermatologist prescribed Salex, but there is also a generic. It has 6% Salicyclic Acid and I use it just before bedtime on the back of my arms. For my $20 co-pay I got a 14 ounce bottle. After one month most of the bumps are gone and the red dots are much better. I may increase it to twice a day, but I wanted to be cautious at the begining because I have very sensitive skin (on my face I have Rosacea, Seb Derm, and adult acne) and have never been able to use any glycolic or other acids on my face. Thankfully the backs of my arms are not so sensitive. |

Do you know what the generic name for Salex is? I have been using it as well and it is GREAT! My bumps on my arms are almost gone!

Sorry, I don't know the generic name but I bet your pharmacist can find out.
Also, I just purchased a 10% alpha hydroxy acid lotion to use during the day because on one of my arms there are some bumps that just don't seem to be going away. I'm basically experimenting to see if adding the glycolic acid can get me into complete resolution. I wonder if others have found that the condition is worse on the back of one arm than the other? |

I was actually thinking about doing the same thing. What brand alpha hydroxy are you trying out? I can't seem to find one that has 10%.
I'm anxious to see how the combo does! |

I ordered Paula Begoun's 10% AHA because her prices are good. It arrived today and I'll start it tomorrow. If you are not familiar with her, she is a cosmetics and skin care consumer advocate with several books out ("Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without em") and she has a website. I think it has CosmeticsCop in the site name.

My doctor has me on Amlactin 12% in the morning, and generic Salex 6% at night, or vice versa. This has almost totally cleared up my KP, maybe 90%. He has also recommended this instead of AmLactin 12%,

my doctor also prescribed me salex, over 2 years ago, and it has not done anything for me... i tried the coconut oil in the shower with exfoliating, same results... i am now trying oil pulling, i guess the results will unfold... are you doing anything different along with using the salex lotion that maybe i am not doing?
