Positive things about KP

Hey guys,

I was thinking, and I thought it would be cool if we tried to come up with some positive things that have come out of having KP, as horrible a thought as that is. I know we all have our self-esteem issues from having this (I personally have a severe case all over my body) but I know that it's made me a much less judgemental person when physical appearance is concerned. I'm a college guy and I tend to sympathize with people more, rather than stand back and snicker and joke like most of my peers do.

I also lift weights and have some muscular definition, but because of my KP, I'm reluctant to walk around in tank tops all day, so i would say KP has made me more humble in a sense too. Your thoughts?

I agree that having kp really does make me alot more humble then I would be if I had smooth arms - I'd probably run around wearing sleeveless all the time! I bet I'd be a real show off too.

Well, it's made me realize that there's more to life than just your looks. The fact that people don't notice KP right away gives me faith that people aren't always that judgemental.

It boosts my self-esteem sometimes to know that I'm not letting it get me down (can't always say this is true, but generally, I'm trying very hard) because I'm modeling, with kp.

It's helped me take better care of myself, by researching what my body may need to feel better in other ways, of course always hoping for a chain reaction to end the KP, but its helped me nonetheless.

It's connected me to other people that have KP. For example, I just recently met a girl with KP, and I didn't know she had it until she mentioned it- and we bonded quickly over it.

Another thing I like a lot, and even though its stupid I'm going to share it- is that I really like body lotions and trying different ones to see what my skin responds to- I have dry skin all over and it makes me feel good to use nice lotions, so having KP is an excuse (albeit a lame one, hehe) to try different lotions and pamper myself. I think everyone needs a little pampering.

I can recognize my own faults. Well, sometimes a little too much, but I'm very realistic in that I see my own faults, and understand that I will never be perfect because there is no such thing, and I'm not as hard on myself as I used to be. Instead I understand that there may be more important things for me to work on, if you will, but learn to accept the things I can't.

But really, the most important of all, it's helped make me so completely humble in some aspects that I can look at other people for who they really are, rather than by looks alone. I don't want anyone to judge me by my looks, and so I don't judge anyone by theirs. I think it's important, especially in today's society.

Now say there's no good thing about KP. It's all in your perspective. No one says you have to love it, or even enjoy it everyday, but at least realize that your situation is only as bad as you make it.
