My KP is 99% gone, all over. I had it on my face, buttocks and upper arms. It was mild, as I had very little redness. I still have a few bumps on one cheek, maybe 5 or 6 bumps. For me, it took 3 weeks of OP. I think for some of the posters here, it has taken less than 3 weeks, and for others, longer. All in all, I'm thrilled with the way OP has helped me, and it has helped with many other things as well.

I hope someone else can answer Luckystarz' question as to whether the redness is reduced as well.

Please keep posting. Your reports will let others know what kinds of oil help, how long it takes, what your results are.

ok...well i admit i've stopped OP for the last 2 days almost. I swapped oils and did...hmm i think 30 mins or more every day until the 3rd week and nothing happened lol. I'll start again tomorrow using organic sunflower oil. I was just wondering tho...i heard omega 3,6 and 9 is good for KP and skin in general... well i went past the oil section and you can buy organic omega oil-would that be any good to pull with? I might try at after the sunflower oil. Oh, and also people are saying that the roughness of their arms is improving with OP but i've not heard much about redness (or maybe i didn't c it) Its just that i don't have a SINGLE bump on my arms-just red dots. Does OP help the dots?
Sorry bout all the questions
x

Hi Cavender I know it's going to take more that a couple of days for me to see changes on my skin that's why I'm not giving up But today after 8 days of op'ing I've noticed that my skin is much softer than it used to be, I'm loving the results!!

The red spots on my skin are still there though, but I'm hoping they will go away after a while

Kebod, I cannot stop looking at my teeth lol they are looking great I will totally tell my dentist about op'ing and I'll let you know what he says

Can anyone answer Skin-deep's and Luckystarz' question as to whether oil pulling helps with the redness?

Well, I don't think I can answer Skindeep's and Luckystarz' questions because today is only my 8th day, I have not seen any 'good' changes in terms of the redness, if anything I think it has gotten worse on my arms, but my skin is smoother

Hi all,

I'm willing to give this a try before buying the BHA, moisturising treatments that seem to have worked for other people. I only realised the other day that the "blemishes" on my arms are actually KP! I bought some pure sesame seed oil but decided not to buy the coconut oil as I wasn't sure about the quality. I was wondering, could you pull with coconut milk instead of the oil? What do the experts think? It is oily and has a lot of benefitial properties as well.

I don't think that the coconut milk has the same properties as the oil. You want to get the lineoic or oleic acids that are in oil. I have never heard of this, and would hesitate to tell you to replace the milk with oil

Is the sesame seed oil you have toasted? Toasting the seeds can remove all the beneficial properties in the oil. If it is not toasted (untoasted is not usually very dark in color) then I think that sesame is superb as a starter oil.

You can also use any nut or seed oil. Walnut oil is my very favorite. You can use apricot, hemp, flax, almond, pumpkin...the list goes on and on.

I personally would only use organic, expeller or cold pressed, unrefined oils.

Hope that helps?

Molly

Ok, i've started pulling again cuz i realised that the OP had done something. A few days after i stopped i realised the skin on my face was going back to its normal teen-age blotchy self again. I thought back and while i was pulling it had ben smooth and not red at all. Then i had a small outbrake of rough red KP spots on my chest (my skin has never been rough).
So 2 days ago i started again. I've been doing 30mins twice a day. The skin on my face has compltely cleared up and the outbreak is going really quickly. Its so weird. The only thing is though, the skin on my arms feels sort of crusty and its become really bumpy wich, like i've said, its never done before.
I think i remember someone, it might have been Kebod, saying that their arms went worse before they cleared up. Do you think thats what's happening?
I hope so lol

Thanks Molly. Yes, I searched and searched and found the untoasted sesame seed oil at the end of the oil shelf, at the back of a shop of an ethnic food store. Every other shop had toasted sesaem seed oil. You remarked earlier about another oil, is it hemp that blows you away (not sure)... why is that? Have your results with that one been better?

Unhappy OP and AHA Lotion?

Hi, I just found out the little red dots all over my arms, legs, and butt are called keratosis pilaris. My dermatologist said my condition is a little more severe than most people. So I joined this community and I'm trying to find out what works well for this condition.
From reading this thread, it seems that oil pulling works. But I was wondering if it would be more effective to use oil pulling along with AHA 15 lotion? And if oil pulling works on the butt area as well?

Thanks!

Hi Kspray,

I was thinking the same thing especially after I had read the great results some people have achieved from using AHAs and salicylic acid. I thought though that I would give the pulling a try first on its own, in case it works so well that I wouldn't need any other products, which would save me a lot of money in the long run. If I used both and got results, I wouldn't be able to tell which one is working. It doesn't seem to me that oil pulling results are enhanced by topical (external) treatments, but then again, I could be wrong. Perhaps you can try the pulling on its own first for a few weeks and if you aren't pleased with the results, you can start using the lotion. Just my 2 cents. Of course, the experts will be on here soon to advise you.

Unhappy Heartburn/GI Probs from Oil Pulling...

Anyone experience this? I have..since oil pulling on and off for a couple weeks. Once I stopped I felt the symptoms subside. I read that the oil in your mouth stimulates the gallbladder to dump bile/toxins. I don't want to have a gallbladder attack. Maybe I should try another type of oil...
