Re: Oil pulling treatment

Gangsta,

If your jaws are becoming sore, it is possible you are swishing the oil too vigorously. Try going more slowly. OP doesn't need to be done quickly. Slow, gentle motions are sufficient. If OP helps your KP, the speed of the swishing won't make a difference.

It is better to brush after, instead of before, because the toothbrush makes micro-abrasions in your gum tissue which can become entry points for the toxins in the oil. I rinse my mouth out with water before I pull, then brush after, then rinse with warm salt water.

I don't use toothpaste since I read that glycerine prevents teeth from forming new enamel. I have not used toothpaste for over a year, and my teeth look and feel very clean. Baking soda is cheap, and it doesn't contain a myriad of strange chemicals that can be absorbed by the mouth tissue.

I have never heard of bio skin regeneration, so I can't comment on that issue.

I did not change my diet until one year after I began oil pulling. Up until then, my diet was already very healthy. (A year ago, I learned I have candida over-growth, so I changed my diet accordingly.) I'm semi-vegetarian, eating only fish and eggs for protein. I buy organically whenever it is possible, and I don't eat any form of sugar.

You should change your diet if you eat sugary foods, fast food, or lots of processed food. Minimize your pesticide and chemical intake to best help your body cleanse.

I think healthy living, such as diet, moderate exercise, sufficient water intake, omega 3 supplements (or food sources, such as freshly ground flaxseeds, salmon, tinned sardines, walnuts), avoiding pharmaceutical drugs if you can live without them, not smoking, and moderate alcohol use -- all add up to a healthy body which will support whatever method you decide to use to diminish KP.

Please keep in touch. We welcome all comments and questions.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Thanx Kebod.

It was my 4th day of op, I have not felt any different, i.e. not felt more energetic or anything. I realise it will take time perhaps with the KP if it works but...I feel normal after op, no change in feelings or senses as yet...really hop I am doing it right? How hard can it be. Unfortunately all my friends and family are not encouraging which may be making me feel this way, they all think its nonsense and it will not work

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Gangsta,

A few days of OP may be too soon to see benefits. For KP help, you need to do it for at least 30 days. Actually, whatever you try, it shoud be for at least a month to see if it will help.

As to your unsupportive friends and family, just carry on. It's your KP your are trying to deal with, and you owe it to yourself to try anything that could help.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Thanks Kebod...I am on here because I know I have support from you guys on this community and I am so glad I joined.

I did forget to mention, I had a tiny nose bleed, did not continue, only when I blew my nose in the morning before day 2 of my op and yesterday morning too, I do not know if that has something to do with op.

Before I started op, I had a slight cold, this kind of cold usually lasts up to 3 days but my nose is still very runny, now that cannot be me still recovering from my cold before starting op. Would it have something to do with op, I mean I have no cold any more or any cold symptoms, just nose is not clearing, keep having to blow my nose??? Is that the affect from op?

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Gangsta,

I have not heard of nose bleeds with OP before. A runny nose can be caused by OP, as it is a form of cleansing. I can't begin to explain the mechanism, as there is no research, but OP can cause different forms of cleansing, like skin break-outs, boils, or a lot of phlegm. It doesn't last long, and, despite being unpleasant, is a good sign that your body is cleansing.

I hope you stay with OP and that the runny nose ends soon.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Hi everyone,
I am two weeks into oil pulling with coconut oil, and i have noticed that within the past week my skin is improving. My KP has lessened a bit (the bumbs are still there), but the overall softness of my skin (everywhere) has had quite the turn around. When I showed my Mom she sad "that's unreal!" considering she was a skeptic.

*I noticed it began to improve significantly once i cut back on swishing with salt water so extensively, now i just do a bit. Plus, when you swish on an empty stomach (like Kebod recommends) it does make a -significant- difference. I can't wait for the next two weeks, I truely believe in this!

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Hey Molly girl,

That iz great! I'm really happy for you, it is exciting! Do u op once a day for 20 minutes?
I'm one week into my op, I've not as yet noticed much difference with teeth whitening or soft smooth skin etc...and I do not expect to until after a month of op at least.

I am op once a day for 20 minutes on an empty stomach, I brush my teeth first thing, op and then use one small glass of sea salt water to rinse and gargle with...is that too much rinsing and gargling? Do you brush your teeth before or after op?

What did you notice in he first week of op? I had a runny nose, chapped lips (lips were not be bad, just slightly dry, perhaps a mild cold sore) and I do not have any bad cravings for junk food, i.e.chocolate or bag of crisp etc...like I use to.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

GANGSTA GURL:
I OP at nighttime, just before bed for 20 minutes.
-I brush my teeth afterwards... after i gargle with a small glass of seasalt, like you.

In the first week of oping, i didn't really see a difference in my skin, my lips were chapped though, as well my skin broke out that week too.
But now, every day, my skin seems to be improving. It is truely remarkable.
That's really neat you don't have any intense cravings anymore, I know that I usually get pretty bad PMS, but this month I didn't. I wonder if it is the miracle work of the coconut oil?
hmm?
Keep in touch!
-Molly

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Mademoiselle,

Recommended oils are sunflower and untoasted sesame oil. I also think that coconut oil is good for beginners. The best oils are organic and expeller-pressed or cold-pressed. These can be found at natural food stores or health food stores. A salt water rinse after pulling cleans the mouth and throat. Sea salt is best, but table salt is OK. Breakouts are not the norm, but they do happen to some shortly after starting OP. They don't last long, usually only a few days. It is actually a good sign that your body is getting rid of toxins.

Molly,

Others have posted that their PMS symptoms were no more because of OP. I think it is wonderful that such a simple procedure can have such wonderful results!

Keep on posting, everyone! I love hearing from you and I love it when you help each other out with comments and answers.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Mademoiselle:
My breakouts were like one good zit, and a few difficult pimples. It lasted like kebod said, very shortly. (to be precise... for me probably 3 good days)
After that, it calmed down. To help the acne I put teatree oil on my problem areas, that speeds up the process significantly as well.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

I just wanted to post to say that I got some better red palm oil than I had. I tasted it this morning and it reminds me of Sea Buckthorn Oil of all things! The palm oil is deep orange in color and so I'm guessing some of the same beta-carotenes and tocotrienols (vitamin E type stuff) are similar between the fruits, maybe some fatty acids too. I look forward to pulling with this stuff! I'm also VERY excited to make my own lotion. is that geeky in its own right or what? - bd

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Results so far with oil pulling (it's been an on and off thing)

Two noticeably bad and unusual breakouts - occuring on parts of my face where I've never had problems with pimples before, and one or two "under the skin" serious breakouts on my chin and one on my forehead. I'm guessing this is because of the detox aspect of OP.

Other things to note are: a decrease in redness in my KP (which is severe on my arms and legs) and general softness of skin.

I've slept like a baby, though with some very interesting dreams (which could also be a result of summer holidays finally arriving and being reunited with my bed for longer than 5 hours at a time).

I find the tanning really helps SMOOTH the redness out (so it doesnt appear to just be coming from dots or bumbs, and it doesnt group in patches except at the top back part of my arms (which has always been the worst spot for me!), and also the redness generally fades immediately after tanning, lasting for a few days. I've been tanning only moderately and maybe once a week, outside for 10 or 15 minutes. That small amount of time outisde, with coconut oil on my skin has helped my KP (of course, Im sure, along with oil pulling) more than anything else I've tried.

I've also substituted coffee for green tea, and often include spices in my food (and I'm a sweet person, not a spicy one! So I use spices like cinnamon and ginger)

What else can I say... My exercise level hasn't changed too much, but that will be different in the near future and despite my green tea substitution, my diet hasnt really changed. HOWEVER I am trying once more to overcome a sugar addiction, and I've been using even Splenda for the longest time - but it's just as evil! So I'm going to avoid that as much as possible, stick to more natural sugars and fewer of them, generally.

That's about all that I've been into lately, now that summer vacation is here I'll be doing some more research and experimenting - though financial limits are a definite obstacle. I'd like to give the Sea Buckthorn cleanse a run again, I know it was working for me.. but unfortunately I ran out of Sea Buckthorn and was unable to purchase any more (mom would not budge!)

Being 16 is both helpful and unhelpful.

I will post again soon! Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend. The weather is beautiful here
