Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hi everyone! I have been so bust these last few months, but I just wanted to let you know what great results I have had from oil pulling. I have been oil pulling for 15 weeks now and the bumps are 70% gone and the red dots are about 50% gone. Bearing in mind that I had very bad KP. Also, I suffer from severe IBS, and nothing has ever helped, but I have not had ANY trouble these last 15 weeks! I suppose it could be a coincidence, but since I was 10 I haven't gone more than 3 weeks without having a problem, so I doubt it! Obviously my arms don't look perfect, and I doubt they ever will, but I can't stress the improvement enough, it really is fantastic. For those of you who are trying oil pulling and not seeing any results, I didn't see any change until 5 weeks in, so keep at it. Also, I put coconut oil on my arms every time I came out the shower, which seemed to be helping. However at about 7 weeks, I was getting white spots on my arms so I stopped using it for 3 weeks which made the KP reduce even more, so maybe skin getting slightly greasier is part of the cycle (I am back using it now). Anyway, just wanted to let you know, please feel free to ask any questions. Thank you kebod!

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hannah,
That is great! And it is also great to hear you are no longer experiencing IBS! I'm glad you let us know that it took 5 weeks to see results. Sometimes it takes longer depending on the individual. Please keep in touch if you see further benefits. Some things I have noticed: increased sense of taste and smell, smoother heels, and more energy. kebod |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Is it normal to breakout in spots because of oil pulling? I've noticed since I started doing it that I keep getting spots, and I hardly ever get them.
I was just wondering if its all part of the process. And help?xxxxx |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Yes, my heels are much better as well! Also, I used to have to moisturise ridiculously often as my skin was so dry, and now it is just when I get out of the shower. I think it has also effected my metabolism as I am much hungrier in the morning!

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Lovely,
Yes, at first OP can cause break-outs. Without scientific research, my guess is that it stirs up toxins that are eliminated through your skin. It is really a good thing that it causes this cleansing and the break-out doesn't last long. Hannah, I use way less body lotion now, also. My skin is so smooth -- I love it! kebod |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
i've been oil pulling for a while now... and i don't know what to report. i *think* the skin on the backs of my thighs is getting smoother but it's hard to tell. the insides & outsides of my knees are as bad as ever and my arms don't seem to have changed (but my arms have never bothered me for some reason.) i switched from sesame oil to olive oil after using olive oil by mistake one day. sesame oil never gave my mouth that super-clean feeling others have described, but olive oil did. i haven't really noticed my teeth getting whiter with either oil, though i have noticed toothaches coming back that i hadn't felt for a while.
i have had serious problems historically w/dehydration, not managing to drink enough water. so i have had extremely chapped lips & the area around my mouth chapps as well. this spread to the corners of my mouth which cracked and got crusty. i was hoping that oil pulling would help this but i think it was taking multivitamins that made it get better. anyway what no one talks about re: oil pulling is that if you follow the instructions, you drink 3 glasses of water immediately after doing it. i think just drinking all that water has a lot to do with the benefits of it. i didn't oil pull for 4 days because i was staying at my mom's house (and it would have been too much to explain) and my chapped lips returned w/in one day. i don't know if it was because i wasn't oil pulling or because i wasn't drinking as much water. it's very hard to tell. it's also hard to tell if my legs are getting any better because of this or if it's because of other things i'm doing (i'm just trying everything i can think of except applying expensive lotions & creams.) i drink apple cider vinegar, and now i take cold showers after using an almond oil-based scrub all over my body which i rub in with loofah gloves. obviously i'm not going about this in a scientific way. but i'll keep oil pulling since at the very least it forces me to drink a lot of water!!! i'm finding that i can't do it in the morning because the water fills me up so much that i can't eat breakfast w/out getting sick. so i'm generally doing it in the late afternoon. that gives me time for the water to filter through my body early enough that i can eat dinner & also not have to get up repeatedly during the night to pee. |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Jenna,
It is recommended to drink 1-2 glasses of water after OP. I usually drink just one. Sometimes, a cup of herb tea counts as my one glass of water. You don't have to drink 3 glasses unless you feel extra thirsty. And you really don't have to drink that much water if you don't feel like eating breakfast! Eating breakfast is too important to miss. Cut back on the water. kebod |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Well, I've stopped posting since October, I think - but I'm back again.
It's been a crazy school year and I've been very, very stressed over the past couple of months with the accumulation of work and other non-school related problems. But It's June now and exams are only two weeks away... its summer and that means Im back to wearing shorts and short sleeves tops... or am I? My KP is worse than ever before and I think its the result of both stress and having put it on the backburner for so long. I just went tanning today for the first time - i'm going to several times and see if it helps my KP. At least in the summer here it is humid, so my skin will stay moist. The humidity makes everything hot and sticky, but I guess thats the trade off. I'm also going to take up oil pulling again because I loved what it did for my teeth, my sleep patterns, my oily face and my energy levels. However we're out of extra virgin olive oil at the moment, so we'll have to get some on the weekend. Or better yet, maybe i'll give coconut a try this time around. Anyways, I'm back and I'll be surfing the forums, posting every now and then Feel free to msg anyone if I've missed anything important here! I see that Baronster has gone... its bittersweet but I'm very happy for her! Take care, Kayla |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Kayla,
It's good to hear from you again. Welcome back. I hope you can stay with OP this time, since it helped you in different areas. Do you mean going to a tanning salon? If so, be careful. New research shows a much higher incidence of skin cancer for people who use tanning beds, because the UV rays are so much stronger than the sun. Moderate sun exposure is OK. Baronster doesn't post as often, but she still visits occassionally. We all appreciate her posts. kebod |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hi, I'm new here and I'll just start off with a quick introduction. I'm 15 years old, and I've had KP since... I was 9 or 8 maybe. The only areas that are affected are my lower legs, and the front of my thighs. I don't have it anywhere else and I don't think it's getting worse. I found this website maybe two months ago and I read this thread about oil pulling. I didn't make an account, but I decided to try it. It's been more than 3 weeks now, almost a month and I haven't seen any results yet with my KP. I do it twice a day, 20 minutes, two teaspoons. The thing I did notice is that I have clearer skin but nothing else. I'm currently using cold pressed coconut oil.
I'm just wondering if I should continue with it? Should I use a different type of oil? Am I doing something wrong? |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Untoasted sesame oil, sunflower oil, or even regular supermarket oils used for cooking if that is the most affordable for you.
