Re: Oil pulling treatment

I just finished my first oil pulling session! Swilling coconut oil for twenty minutes was certainly difficult. But i'm determined!

Re: Oil pulling treatment

GB,

I have fillings I have had from childhood, and they are as secure as can be. I just had a dental check-up and asked the dentist.

Ted, from Earth Clinic web page, answers questions about oil pulling. Here is his answer about loose fillings:

A fillings will only come out if the fillings are loose. The oils and oily foods act as lubricants if they are about to come out anyway. You have a better chance of removing the fillings if you were eating foods. It is a rarity in practice from oil pulling. It is only if it is a loose fillings, which you can feel that you cannot do oil pulling.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Hi,
I found this forum a few days ago and read about 1/2 of the threads. I started OPing 3 days ago with Spectrum Refined Sesame Oil. I haven't seen any results as of yet. But after doing some research on the benefits of refined vs. unrefined oils, I'm not sure if I'm using the right type of oil. Most people seem to use the unrefined oils for OPing. Kebod, do you think it's worth it for me to switch over?
Thanks!!

Re: Oil pulling treatment

kebod,

thanks for the feedback & encouragement to do OP in a way that will work for me & not make me grumpy!!! this morning i took my meds first & then waited over an hour before doing OP. then, the OP wasn't a problem.

i am confused as to whether i'm supposed to rinse w/salt water before or after i brush my teeth.

i think i can see my teeth getting whiter but i'm not entirely sure. nobody has said anything to me but then, i haven't come into contact w/a lot of people and i don't think anybody's been paying attention to my teeth anyway. nothing else to report so far.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Jenny,

I think refined oil OK. I say this, because where I live, that is usually all I can find, and it still keeps my KP down. Unrefined would have more nutrients in it, but refined does the job.

Jenna,

Hmm...I don't think it makes a difference if you do the salt water rinse before or after brushing, as long as you do if after OP. I do it after brushing. Sea salt is best, but regular salt is OK.

Jenny and Jenna,

Give OP at least 30 days to see if it will help. Please keep in touch.

Starting Out

Hello,

After making my way through most of this thread, I figured that it couldn't hurt to give OP a try.

I am also starting out with the Glytone KP kit, so any results I do get can't be attributed to just one method, but the combo.

I have bumps and redness on my upper arms and thighs, and red dots alone on my forearms and calves.

I'm attaching before pics, and can hopefully post progress pics, even if I show little progress, since the thread seems to be lacking in those.

I started the regimen yesterday with the KP Kit and with Spectrum's unrefined sesame oil. I can say that my gums do feel a bit better already.

My digi ****ped out, so am using a cell for the pics.

I started oil pulling on Aug. 1 of 2006, hoping for better over-all health. After googling "oil pulling" and learning how it is done, I started using coconut oil and gently swishing 2 teaspoons through my mouth each morning on an empty stomach. Instantly, I noticed whiter teeth and a pinker tongue. The process is thought to remove toxins from the body, and I was curious as to what other health improvements I would notice. On day 21 of oil pulling, I realized my skin was 90-95% clear of all the little bumps. Then I remembered that for two days before, my upper arms had felt more dry and crusty than usual, but I didn't think anything of it at the time, since that skin was never smooth anyway. I now think this was the KP condition drying up and sloughing off.

I took a trip to visit my sister for 3 weeks, and cut back my oil pulling to 10 min. each morning so we could start chatting as soon as we got up. The bumps started to come back. I resumed the 20 min. regimen, and they again diminished. For me, this was conclusive evidence that it was the oil pulling responsible for the clearer skin.

I now do two 20-30 min. back-to-back sessions each morning to clear up the remaining 5-10%, and it is clearing. My skin is very smooth.

Google "oil pulling" for more information. I hope some of you try this.

Kebod
i have a question that has nothing to do with this post. but many people have been talking about that parasite... so my question is do all people with kp have that? the symptoms that i read i don't seem to have any. my kp doesn't itch, my hair isn't falling out, i don't have scabs on my head... etc. maybe i have a lesser form of it or something? i don't know but it's freaking me out. also, do all people that have kp, does it spread for everyone? it hasn't been spreading for me and i've had it in the same spot for about 4 -5 years. i just hope that mine doesn't spread and with reading some posts on here, i'm a little scared.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Hello everyone,
I mostly have kp on my upper arms. I've had it since I was a child. Like most ppl, I have kp flare ups during the coldest months of the year. I live in Atlanta, so during the summer time, combined with the humidity and tanning, it's not as bad.

I started pulling with sesame oil a week ago (spectrum refined sesame oil). While I can't say I've seen dramatic results right away, I'm starting to see that the bumps are not as prominent and the redness has also gone down a bit. I'm stoked. I'd also like to try a topical oil on my kp. Heard coconut oil was good. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement, kebod!

Re: Oil pulling treatment

SS29,

We look forward to hearing from you again. I hope your teeth are whiter by now.

Katey,

No, not everyone with KP has demodex mites or parasites. I believe that KP may have different causes. That explains why some remedies work for some people but not for others. No, it doesn't spread for everyone. We are all different, reacting to different stimuli and toxins. You have no reason to be scared.

Oxy,

I recently read (don't know where) that getting braces can cause a chemical reaction in the mouth, causing other problems. I don't know if this is the case with you or not, nor do I think that braces can cause problems for everybody with them. Have you tried oil pulling?

Jenny,

I'm really happy to hear that your bumps and redness seem to be less in just one week. I hope you stay with OP for at least a month to see what more it can do.

Coconut oil is a very good topical oil to use. I suggest you use it right after a shower while your skin is still damp. It is absorbed more easily then. It doesn't take much, so use it sparingly.

Thanks for posting, everyone. I love hearing from you.!

YouTube video on oil pulling

Here is an amusing, and very short video on oil pulling. It looks and sounds like it is from India, where oil pulling is popular, and individual packets of oil are sold for one pulling session.

YouTube - IDHAYAM WEALTH OIL PULLING

I sure don't look this fashionable when I do OP in the morning!
