Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Ok so I decided to try oil pulling and I think I might of gotten the wrong oil.
I just ordered Spectrum Essentials Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil from Lucky Vitamin. Is anyone familiar with this one? It doesnt say its cold pressed so Im unsure. |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Vanessa,
If it is Spectrum brand, it is a good oil to use. Please post again to let us know if it helps. Give OP at least 30 days. Be aware of other health improvements you may experience. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi my name is Lue, i am new to this discussion board. I'm 28 and ofcourse have KP, which sucks! Good news, it only took me a week to read all the post here. So i started doing the OP 2 days ago, and the only thing i have noticed is that i am no longer bleeding when i brush my teeth. Hopefully more great things will happen. My husband thinks i'm crazy for doing the OP because he thinks there is nothing wrong with me, i have it on my back of my arms, legs and buttocks. I took pictures but while hold on on posting them until i have the after pics. I noticed that alot of people said they took before pic but i don't think i have seen after pics, except for your pic Kebod. Anywho i will let you guys know my progress. thanks

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi Lue,
Welcome to the KP Forum. OP removes bacteria from the gum pockets around your teeth, which explains why bleeding, often seen during brushing and flossing, stops. It is a great practice for oral health, and hopefully you will see your bumps reduce, as well. Please keep in touch and tell us if you notice any other changes. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
hi there... i just discovered this forum last night. i'm 41 and have had KP for as long as i can remember, but i've never found anything that helps. i HATE covering my body with lotions and creams... and i loathe extensive bathing routines.
so i was very excited to come across this thread. i went to the health food store today and bought organic expeller-pressed sesame oil... and i'm doing my first session of OP as i type this. i must say it's a very strange sensation having oil in my mouth... and my mouth was sore (tired) from the outset, probably from grinding my teeth all day. i have a number of other health problems besides KP (depression, fatigue, insomnia, digestion issues) so i'm really hoping that this will do me some good. i already have a pretty good diet (i'm vegan) but i'm looking toward eliminating wheat as another possible culprit for a number of things. my mouth feels VERY full with all the saliva getting mixed in with the oil... i can't say there's anything pleasant about this sensation. i hope i will get used to it. i am very thankful that i found this KP forum. i've had serious self-esteem issues related to my KP (also related to being a bit chubby and having what i believe are very weird body proportions) and i have been very nervous about letting anyone get close to me (sober) because i dread them touching the backs of my legs. the backs of my thighs are where it's bumpiest, though i do have bumps on the backs of my arms (they don't really show) and red dots all over my butt and my calves. i know this may take a while but i REALLY hope that OP will help reduce the bumps on my legs. i have some questions but i'll ask them later... i just wanted to stop lurking and introduce myself. |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi Jenna,
If your mouth feels too full while you are pulling, spit it out and start again with fresh oil. Also, if it feels too full, you don't have to use the full tablespoon. I started by using 2 teaspoons. Right now I'm using 1 teaspoon and it still seems to keep my KP down to almost nothing. I hope you can stay with OP for at least a month -- it may take that long to see any changes, aside from whiter teeth. That happens right away. Please keep in touch with any questions or comments. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
hi, kebod and everyone:
say sorry for long time visiting this forum but without posting. I really would like thank all of you here for your contributions, especially kebod et al. it's just like life saving since I am so depressed and have no self-confidence due to kp, now my daughter also has it. I really do not want my daughter to live under a shadow. my god, I feel so luck that I find this forum. I have a mild kp and started OPing for one week, exactly my skin gets much smoother, but redness is still there. of course I would stick to it. I just notice that if I did OPing when I had a shower, the oil is much easier to get thinner. I am just wondering if it is because the showering improve the blood circulation. so I guess maybe we can be better detoxed by doing OPing during a shower. does anybody have this feeling? is there anybody could tell me if it is good to do OP during showering? ![]() |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
hi kebod et al,
i am now oil pulling for the third time. i am not noticing anything yet, not even a fresher mouth (i've always brushed my teeth rather intensely and that makes my mouth feel pretty fresh.) i plan to keep doing this for a while, but i have one major complaint: having to do it first thing in the am before i take my meds. my regular routine has been to take my meds while i'm still half asleep (one thing i take is adderall, which is a stimulant) and go back to sleep till they wake me up. (i'm weaning myself off of a bunch of psychotropics, but SLOWLY is the only way to do it, and adderall will be one of the last to go.) this morning i stayed in bed for an extra hour grumbling "i don't wanna get up & do oil pulling!" in my half-asleep state. it even made me feel mad. i couldn't wake up because i'm generally groggy until taking meds & sleeping a little longer. the other annoying thing is that i take SAM-e (a supplement i use for depression) also as soon as i wake up, with the adderall. it has to be taken on an empty stomach. so before i started oil pulling, i'd take the adderall & SAM-e, go back to sleep for a little while, and then when i woke up i'd be ready to have my oatmeal. but i read here that meds should be taken after oil pulling. this means i have to somehow struggle to wake up, do oil pulling, THEN take the SAM-e etc. and then WAIT some period of time (an hour? i don't know) before i can have my oatmeal. that makes for an extremely long morning wake-up routine. i'm pretty grumpy right now thinking about it. i really want this to work for me since it's simple and relatively inexpensive. is it really so wrong to do this *after* taking my meds? what would happen??? thanks to kebod & everyone who's been posting on these forums for all the info. jenna |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Yay! This is my first post.
I was actually just today diagnosed with Keratosis Pilaris, which was a complete bummer! And to make things worse I have to have a blood test for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. ![]() But i'm certainly going to give the oil pulling a try as odd as it sounds lol. Shame coconut oil is so expensive! £10 a bottle. Bye, bye, money. ![]() |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Jixiang,
That's great that you started OP! OP often reduces bumps, but is not as successful with redness. I had very little redness, now have even less, and almost no bumps. That is an interesting comment about showering increasing circulation, and the oil becoming thinner. (You are very observant.) There is no problem with doing OP in the shower, and it might be better. It is fine to do OP in the shower. Please inform us of any more observations. Is your daughter trying oil pulling? Jenna, Some think that oil pulling interferes with digestion, and that is why you should take meds after. However, you may want to try taking the meds before OP, and see if they still have a good effect. On the Cure Zone Oil Pulling Forum, some people take meds before OP because they don't want to wait. Whatever you do, you want something you feel good about, not something that makes you grumpy. It may be too soon to see results. Give OP at least 30 days to see if it makes a difference. On the Cure Zone Forum Oil Pulling & Oil Swishing Support Forum: Page 98 of 98 posters have said that oil pulling reduces depression. You may want to post your questions and comments on that forum and ask about meds before or after OP. Lovely, How much coconut oil are you getting for $10? It isn't cheap, but it sure is nice. Please post again, everyone! It's great to hear from you! ![]() kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Lovely,
It looks good. It is a plus that it says it has a "sweet aroma and rich taste." Cheaper coconut oil has been refined, bleached and deoderized (RBD), methods which use high heat and chemicals to remove any aroma and flavor and color (coconut oil is pretty white, anyway.) Don't buy RBD coconut oil. Is has lost a lot of its nutrition. More about RBD coconut oil: rbd coconut oil -refined, bleached and deodorized kebod |
