Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
I've been trying the sbt treament for a little while and would like to add oil pulling to my regimen. I have a weird question is the coconut oil that some people are applying to their skin the same oil that they pull with?

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi! I have just read about oil pulling today and I have a few questions.
I found an EVCO in a shop near us but it doesn't have glycolic acid. Would it still be effective? Here it is. Nutrizen Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Manufacturer exporting direct from Philippines And by the way, could it also lessen the bumps and redness on my skin if I use it externally too? Hope you could help me. Thanks! ![]() |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Misery,
Oil pulling has helped some people very much, and for others it has done nothing, like many other remedies on this forum. I hope you try it, I hope it helps you, but either way, let us know if it helps. Give it at least 30 days. Also, drink lots of water, take an omega 3 supplement or eat foods high in omega 3, try to do moderate, daily exercise and eat a very clean diet. I have never heard of EVCO with glycolic acid. I use 100% pure coconut oil. I recommend you try it on your skin. It is best to apply it right after a shower while your skin is still damp. Use it sparingly -- it doesn't take much. As to your question if it will lessen the bumps and redness if used externally -- I don't know as I oil pull and use it topically, but I was only oil pulling when I realized I had a 85-90% reduction in my KP. After this, I started putting it on my skin, but I can't say the remaining bumps lessened any. Please keep in touch. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Ok, thanks Kebod.
By the way, were you using any other products on your skin when you were oil pulling? Any moisturizers or creams? |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Misery,
I wasn't trying to do anything for my KP when I started. I just wanted to see what oil pulling would do for my overall health. I was using an inexpensive lotion, St. Ives Extra Relief, but I had used that for about 10 years with no change in my KP. I don't use that lotion anymore because it has strange ingredients. Now I only use a home made lotion with a base of almond oil and coconut oil. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
I tried oil pulling with coconut oil earlier.
It tastes..bad. ![]() I don't think I was able to do it for even 10 minutes. Any tips to lessen that bad taste? |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi Misery,
Sorry it tasted bad. Most people love the flavor of coconut oil. Are you sure it is fresh? If it tastes rancid, it is old -- throw it out. Maybe you should try some organic sunflower oil. It has a mild flavor. And you don't need to do it for the full 20 minutes at first. Just do one teaspoon for 5 minutes. Slowly increase the amount of oil, until you reach 2 to 3 teaspoons and increase the time until you reach 20 minutes. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
hi misery - I read somwhere that some coconut oil is processed in such a way that it tastes "burnt." I forget the exact process. I agree with kebod in that starting with a mild sunflower oil in small amounts would be good. Otherwise, the spectrum organic coconut oil is good imho, but I don't pull it (yet) I use it cooking and for eating. My favorite oil so far for pulling is walnut oil which could be a good second or third oil to try. I just started pulling rice bran oil this morning. seems pretty good. I keep trying to get macadamia but NOW is apparently out of it or something. can't get it _anywhere_. well, maybe somewhere but not in my usual realms. - bd

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Ok, I'll try to look for a sunflower oil.
It still has the same effect as EVCO, right? |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Misery,
Basically, yes, though all the oils have their own special attributes. Personally, I use whatever oil I can find that is organic and cold-pressed, coconut oil being my favorite because of the flavor. No matter which oil I use, my KP stays mostly gone. Molly, who sometimes visits us from the Cure Zone Oil Pulling Forum, likes sesame oil best. We all have our favorites, but if OP is going to help you, I'm not sure that one is better than the other, as long as they are good quality oils. Whatever you use, don't use canola, corn or peanut oil. They each have their negative features. Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi, Ive been doing OP for about 1 week now. No obvious change on the KP but my teeth are starting to get so white that they glow in the dark!!! Definately works on the teeth. I'll update folks on how it got on with the KP in a few weeks.
