Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Sig,
I think KP does require a multi-pronged attack, as you say. While OP can make a difference with KP, it doesn't get rid of it completely. That's a great observation about your son feeling empowered to do something about his KP. Sweet, I've used Omega Nutrition coconut oil in the past and I liked it. Make sure your almond oil is food grade, and not just meant as a skin product. Molly, Jojoba is your carrier oil? I'm not familiar with either of the oils you mentioned, but I will look them up. For others not familiar with using essential oil, usually they are not used full strength, but mixed with a carrier oil. I'll find some more information on using essential oils and let you know what I find out. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hello!
I was wondering if anybody knows why you are supposed to do oil pulling four hours after you eat? Does it really matter that much? I've been oil pulling for four weeks now and I haven't seen any improvement, but I'm going to give it atleast another month. My KP is pretty bad and I've had it my whole life, so I'm not surprised that OPing hasn't worked quickly. I OP twice a day and I try to wait four hours in the evening, but I was just wondering if it was important. Thanks for the help! |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Eternal,
Oil pulling is thought to interfere with digestion, so it is recommended to do it on an empty stomach. Probably a 2-3 hour wait after a meal is enough. On the Cure Zone Oil Pulling Forum, I have read of a few who didn't wait after a meal and said they felt fine. At the least, I hope you have whiter teeth! ![]() kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hey everyone!
I've been oil pulling for 4 days now, 20 minutes every morning. I haven't been doing it at night because I have to wait 3-4 hours and I eat pretty late after rugby. I've been getting pretty good results, I think the redness has gone down and the bumps are going away. It really depends on the time of day though, right after shower the redness is down but like in the morning or something it seems to be red again. I also apply coconut oil onto my arms which REALLY help make them smoother and better. Also use coconut oil for mosturizer too right after shower, it's amazing. I'm going to see what happens later on in 2 weeks ![]() Keep up the OPing everyone! =) |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Casey,
Use a mild oil, like sunflower. Others like sesame (be sure to get untoasted) and coconut, both with more flavor. Please let us know how you are doing. Sweet, Thanks for the update. We would love to hear from you anytime, but please give us a 30-day update. Also, coconut oil applied to the skin is a very healthy and healing oil. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Ok, so I'm pulling right now and it's much harder than it sounds! I couldn't wait until tomorrow to try, and it's been more than 4 hours since I had breakfast so I flossed and gave it a shot. I hope the 2 cups of black tea I drank in between aren't a problem
![]() Anyhow, my mouth is so full it feels like it will burst! I am also having a HUGE problem fighting my body's urge to swallow. It has now been 20 minutes though, so I'm off to spit. God I hope this works...I'm a skin-picking KP'er, so my arms are scabby as well. I hate it. |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hello all
This is my first post. Ive been reading this thread over the past few weeks...it's so interesting. Ive found it very hard to find a pure oil in South London, UK (without ordering online and paying a fortune in P&P). However today I found some Hemp Seed oil, pure, cold-pressed. I shall be starting my pulling tomorrow morning. Im sure Hemp Oil was mentioned somewhere here by someone... but Im not trawling back through. Have you used it? Anything to report? I have KP on the backs of my arms, I have only really suffered from it in the last 2 years (Im 33, healthy) and have no rhyme or reason why it appeared! I want it gone or as gone as possible! Id also like whiter teeth thank you very much :0). I shall duly report any findings. DP |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hello everyone,
Thanks for the earlier help Kebod! I've been oil pulling for a month now and I've used sesame oil. I'm switching oils and I can't find any sunflower oil, so I just bought walnut oil. Has anyone used it-does it sound okay? I went to Market Street and they also had almond oil, has anyone tried that? From what I've read here lots of kinds of oils will work, but having just started OPing I would like to use something that people have had success with. Good luck to you all! |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi again
So I couldnt wait to get started and hadnt eaten for 4 hours so I swished for 20 mins with my Hemp Oil. All the advice is that it should be whitish when I spit... mine was still very yellow and thick oil. Should I pull for longer do you think? |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Kebod will not be here today.
![]() When oil turns white or yellow is because it emulsifies with water. For example if you are in the shower and you rub some body oil on, it will turn out white. The same occurs when you make a vinaigrette for the salad (if you mix it very well, for a moment vinegar and oil will "mix"forming that consistency and color, so I think that your hemp oil turns out yellow because of the color of the oil. What color is it? Kebod will answer this a lot better than me. ![]() |

Quote:
Almond oil also fine and easy to hold in the mouth. high in the palmitic acid (our bods should metabolize that for our skin) and vitamin E. I am using sesame right now and my husband's using almond oil. I alternate oils for us. I will use sunflower again, it's in the cupboard but walnut seems to me a good starter oil. I tried pumpkin seed oil last fall. very strong stuff and GREEN and doesn't turn white or yellow really, just lightens up a bit. Strong flavor, not for amateurs or people with sensitive stomachs I think. Disco: You are brave, my friend. I would not assume it has a great flavor, what do you think? If it starts as a fairly dark color, I bet it won't lighten up much. Just do your 20 minutes. Pumpkin seed oil, for example, there's NO WAY it was going to get lighter. It even changed the color of my ear wax a bit. I did manage to replicate that effect a couple times and that was really weird. Maybe it's something about my physiology, like some oil moves up my eustachian tubes and gets absorbed into the area that way? I dunno. But Hemp Oil is supposed to be fine for oil pulling if you can stomach it. - bdp.s. hemp oil looks massively good. I had forgotten. If this info is straight up I should be taking IT instead of fish/flax combo... Hemp oil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Last edited by bunnyday; 04-10-2008 at 11:32 AM. Reason: hemp oil link |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Well, I thought it was about a tablespoon...It may have been a bit more though! Now that I've done this 3 times, I think my problem that first day was with my urge to swallow and so I kept reverse-swallowing , which added more and more saliva each time I did it. By the time 20 minutes was up, I was exploding! This is not as much of an issue now, though I did accidentally spit a little oil onto my keyboard this morning . |
