Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
lillow,
My KP lessened by 90-95% all at once, on the 21st. day of oil pulling. My upper arm skin became drier feeling, and after a few day, a dry, crusty layer of skin washed off in the shower, leaving smoother skin underneath. This isn't too say it will be the same for everyone -- we are all different. I didn't try any other remedies at the same time, so I know it was OP that did it. Don't worry if you skip a couple of days. You won't lose what you have gained. OP works at night. It works anytime of the day. But some who OP late in the evening have a hard time falling asleep because it makes them energetic. Why don't you try it one evening, like a Friday or Saturday evening when you can sleep in if it keeps you up for a while? Another option is to do it when you come home from work and before you eat dinner. I hope OP helps you. Please keep in touch with us. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi Lillow,
Your question about 'Is it just me or do they look like little holes?' is a good question. I was wondering the same thing. When I look at the redness (my skin feels smooth, just redness), I too see those little holes. Weird heuh? |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Belgiangirl, I don't have little holes, so can't offer any advice on this, but have you checked out Sirduckles thread on demodex treatment with sea buckthorn? I wonder if the mites may be causing the holes. This is just a guess...

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
thanks Kebod and Belgiangirl. I will try it after work. I think it's really interesting that you found such a huge improvement all at the same time. ALso about the crusty layer, I must've missed that when I started reading through this thread (its so long after all :P)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has those holes lol. My guess is that the ingrown hairs have just come out of the little bumps and where they used to be tucked in is what the holes are now. The mites theory is an interesting one though Kebod, but I think I'll wait and see how all my other rememdies pan out first before trying some more. Especially since the sea buckthorn treatment looks a bit intimidating with the break outs, i might leave it until winter until i at least consider it haha. Cheers |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
I tried using the SBoil from Weleda and the SBjuice from Weleda, but I had the feeling it dried my skin out and it burned. My skin became very red, but no breakouts. Maybe I stopped to early, I don't know. I decided to give it another try, that's my only hope left. I still am Op'ing, just for my health, but that didn't do much. A few months ago (april 2007), I saw a doctor and apparently I too had a yeast. Now the yeast is gone, my intestines are healed, so is my liver and some other organs that suffered from it, but nothing happened, skin still the same. My doctor prescribed me some vitamin E and omega 3 to support my skin, which I'm taking for 2 months now, but still nothing happened. So now I'm a little desperate... It is just so frustrating that some people find a solution (diet to cure their intestines, SB, omega's, vitamines) and I tried and did my very best, but nothing happens.
So the SB treatment is my very last hope and I began again using the SB oil yesterday, so we will see what happens... I never stopped taking the juice, so that I also will keep drinking. I need some kind of miracle I suppose ... |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi Kebod (and everyone else),
I am so happy I found this site and your discussion group on this Oil Pulling you started a couple years ago. Maybe I am not reading over everything properly, or simply not grasping what is being said, but I am not really understanding the actual process of Oil Pulling. I've read all about why it may work and what it does, but I cant seem to find actual "Directions" on how to do this. I would love to try it, and get relief from my Keratosis, or attempt to.. Is it like gargling with a regular bottle of sesame oil I would purchase from the Grocerie Store? A few times a day? What exactly do I do? Oh and a tip (not sure if this is where I place it), but I have pretty bad keratosis on my thighs, and every time I use Vaseline Firming Lotion, and Vaseline Firming with a Hint Of Sun lotion, I throw on a some sweat pants and before I know it my legs are completly smooth, free of bumps, and no redness. This is only temporary for a few days or until you shower of course. Its a quick fix though! I think those Firming lotions are really made for us with Keratosis ![]() Thank you |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Has any one tried OPing with almond oil? My husband started with this and after 3 weeks has had no results, so he has just changed to sesame. Has anyone else used almond oil?

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Misslala,
I will post the recipe for the lotion soon. I have been so busy -- it's hard to have enough time for the forum. Oleander, I'm glad you found us. Here are directions: put one tablespoon of oil in your mouth when your stomach is empty (3 hours since you last ate. First thing in the morning is a good time.) Very slowly, move the oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, spit out in the toilet or in a plastic bag or down the bathroom sink. If you use coconut oil, it hardens, so spit in a plastic bag. Then you can brush your teeth and rinse your mouth with warm salt water (use sea salt, which you can buy at a natural food store. That's it. Now you can eat and drink, but only heathy food. Exercise every day. Drink lots of water every day. Take an omega oil supplement or eat salmon, tinned sardines and walnuts for omega oils. Everything works together and supports oil pulling. Recommended oils are sunflower, untoasted sesame, and coconut oil. Look for oils that are cold-pressed or expeller pressed, and hopefully organic. You can buy these at a natural food store or health food store. If they don't have them, as them to order them for you. Please let us know if oil pulling helps you. Sigz, I have not used almond oil, though I bet it tastes wonderful. I hope it was almond oil for ingesting, and not a product meant to be only used on the skin. Whenevery you don't get results from a particular oil, try another. Tried and true oils are sunflower, untoasted sesame, coconut and avocado. Others have used hemp and untoasted walnut. Don't use peanut, corn or canola. Everybody, thanks for posting. Keep those questions and comments coming. I love hearing from you. Keep on pulling! kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi, I started oil pulling 4 days ago with sesame oil, and feeling much better for it. Haven't seen any change in my KP yet, but fingers crossed! However, when I spit it out it is a pale yellow colour, and the liquid is not transparant. I thought this may be due to the fact I was not doing it for long enough, but even after doing it for 25 minutes it still looks the same. Is this normal?! I thought the oil was supposed to change texture and turn clear?

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi,
I'm new and thinking of trying this starting on Friday (after my awful university exams are over), I figured I'll try this oil pulling as it is so cheap and then if/when it doesn't work I'll move onto expensive scrubs and stuff. I have quite bad KP on my upper arms and just a small amount on my thighs. I'm not sure how bad it is compared to everyone elses' but I think it's pretty bad because it's so red and I never ever wear sleeveless tops. I've had it for about 11 years and I'm 22 now and still have it. My question is I currently moisturise the area on my arms as I heard this helps. If I start oil pulling should I continue to moisturise as I've heard people talk about a "drying out" phase before it improves and would moisturisation counteract this? Or would it help? |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hannah,
It's OK if it remains yellow. The color isn't important. What is important is to use a good quality oil and to pull for 20 minutes. I hope this helps your KP. Even if it doesn't, you are doing your body so much good by cleaning bacteria from the mouth, thereby from the entire body. Bacteria in the mouth is absorbed by the body, causing other diseases. Anna, Yes, continue to moisturize your skin whether you oil pull or not. Oil pulling has not been very successful for severe redness. It has greater benefits for mild KP. I does decrease bumps for many. Please let me know if it helped you. Lillow, I haven't forgotten that you asked for the body lotion recipe. I'll try to post it today under a new thread. Have a great day, everyone, and keep on pulling! ![]() kebod |
