As I am weary of saying the same stuff again and again, I have decided to take a break from this.
People aren't actually reading my posts, so I don't see the point in continuing to leave messages here. Nothing personal to anyone, I am just tired of doing it and do not understand why people can't listen or understand even the basics of the nature of this treatment when it has been said so many times, and there is nothing I can add that has not already been posted numerous times. I will still answer questions by email for those who are seriously interested in pursuing treatment. Good luck to you all. I wish you success. ~Turquoise ****************** (at) yahoo.com |

Thanks so much.....
Please don't think that I'm challenging or disregarding your suggestions. I just wanted to try different things....and figured that the 30% may work well more towards the beginning of treatment rather than using it when the KP skin is almost gone. So sorry you wont be writing on the forum any longer. Good luck and thanks again for everything! Angel3000 |

Hi Turquoise,
I have started to use the 15% twice a day now and noticing a difference already. I am getting little bits of peeling now and the redness has started to subside. It is a little bit itchy is this normal? Thank you. Pixie. |

Well, I certainly want to thank Turquoise for bringing my attention to the glycolic acid treatment, instead of that oil pulling or juice fasting or what-have-you nonsense.
Because it certainly does work. I think reactions will be different for different people. I saw noticeable improvement on the second day of using the NeoStrata 15%. I ordered some DCL 20% as soon as I tried the 15% and noticed no burning or itching, but it hasn't come in yet, and I think the 15% may be plenty. Keep in mind I'm a guy, and the KP has never really bothered me much, so I haven't been exfoliating or doing much of anything to that skin, so that may be part of the reason for the quick response. I had what I would consider to be moderate KP, all around my calves, the top of my thighs, and the outside of my upper and lower arms. (I have no pictures, but it was diagnosed as KP by a dermatologist when I was in for something else; I think he said "a little bit of", or words to that effect.) (Or, since my arms are improving more quickly, maybe I'll keep the 20% for the legs.) After 2 weeks of the 15% ONCE per day, (lotion so icky!) I'm still seeing noticeable improvement every day, and my KP now hits "mild" on my rating scale. My arms, and the left one in particular, are MUCH better, probably more than 50% to normal at this point. The only adverse effects are a little bit of redness on a 1" patch of skin on my inner elbow that I used to "swipe across" two adjacent areas of KP. I've been more careful in that area as soon as I noticed the redness. I'm just now starting to get some light flaking, but no itching or unpleasant sensations of any kind. |

This is all very promising stuff. After my exfoliation experiment, I too plan to try this AHA stuff, at 15%.

Hey!
I looked at you pictures (before and after) and it looks AMAZING!!! My kp is a bit worse than yours though...my arms are the most affected, even my forearms But my legs looks like yours did in the before pictures! So if it woorked for you why couldn't it work for me I think!?! The problem is that I live in Sweden, and I can't get the product not even from the internet because AHA 15% is a prescripted medicine here in Sweden! My question is if there is anyway I could get the product from you or someone else...don't know how we can handle the payment but if you have an idea I would be ssssssoooooooo happy, damn, if I could get my skin to look just a littel bit better, just to see some improvment I would be flying off the roof!!!!!! Thanx again for putting your time and effort in trying to cure this skincondition. Best regards Leila |

Hands down THANKYOU to Turquoise..
your detailed blog is FILLED with vital KP information and your passion to share the knowledge is unparallel. ![]() I am a new member, I luckilly stumbled across this page and after reading its contents top to bottom, I forced the courage to sign up! I am a 26 year old female with medium to severe KP on my thighs, calves, triceps, and it's spreading to my bum and breasts! (ugh) My whole life has been hindered by my "disease" - I felt like a prisoner to these tiny red bumps, which to many might sound superficial. However, you cannot understand where I'm coming from unless you've been there and this is why I LOVE this site! I ordered the DCL AHA Revitalizing Lotion 20 from greatskin.com at only $13.90 a bottle! After all the "rememdies" I've endured I feel strong about this one, and like she says, it can't hurt! I've taken before pictures today, however am not comfortable posting them as of yet. Admitting my KP is a big step for me. I started oil pulling today (organic, unrefined sunflower oil) and I vow to continue the regimen (lotion + OP) for one month and post my pictures! (hold me to this) ![]() Please, if you are like me and you have stumbled onto this site, go here: http://www.*********.com/blueparadis...PPictures.html Read it from top to bottom and then do it again; All the information you need on KP is there. And please post on this message board so we can all support one another. There is hope afterall ![]() Last edited by KP_Girl; 01-10-2007 at 09:20 PM. |

THANK YOU TURQUOISE! It's working!
THANK YOU to Turquoise for posting the information about using AHA 15% and 20% to treat Keratosis Pilaris.
I have 2 kids that have had KP since they were born. They have just started high school. My husband also has it and so does his Mom. So, it's definitely hereditary. They have it on cheeks, back, stomach, legs. I have taken them to 3 "expensive/high-class" dermatologist in our state numerous times since they were 6years old. They all told us that there is no cure and that is just "them" -- that's the way their skin is and always will be. One sent us home with some Vani-cream and Euricine (didn't help AT ALL) -- the others did not give us any prescription or anything. I finally decided to research it on my own...that's when I found Turquoise's information on this site. I ordered AHA (one from paula's choice 10% and DCL brand's 15% and 20%). They have all been using it for a week (the 15%) and it's ALREADY MADE A DIFFERENCE. Smoothness, less noticeable on their stomach's, etc. MY HUSBAND can't even believe it! THANKS for posting your information Turquoise!!! I am sending letters to all the dermatologist in my area mentioning that they should at least advice their clients to try this product -- or at a minimum they should do some research into this. **Also - I wanted to tell everyone that this is the first time I have EVER posted anything on the internet (I usually just read and research) -- I just felt very compelled to post after realizing that Dermatologists and the KP sufferers out there need to know that this is a treatment for KP and it DOES WORK. I've been using the AHA 20 on my upper arms for about a week now. I can definitely see a difference. My arms have been subjected to so much scrubbing and heavy-duty acid-based treatments over the years that they're basically tough as old boots and I haven't experienced any discomfort whatsoever with using the AHA 20. The thing I notice the most is that the red dots are considerably lessened and the backs of my arms have a very different look to them because of it. In the past, even when I'd exfoliate the dickens out of my arms and apply a lotion that would (temporarily) make them feel smooth, the red dots NEVER, EVER went away (except when I got a sunburn). I am going to stick with the AHA 20 and will report back in a few weeks. Thank you to Turquoise for being so incredibly helpful -- meticulous, thorough, and diligent with your research and in reporting your results.

Those in the UK and EU
I found a UK site that sells glycolic acid products... the strongest lotion I could find is 12% but it might be helpful if you're just trying out glycolic acid for the first time. I did find a night cream for the face with 20%. Not so sure how it will work for the body but it's worth a try. They also have a host of other washes, cleansers etc. with AHA at various strengths. I'm trying Eucerin now, but I might give this a try later.
