benzoyl peroxide

hello, i'm new to the site. i've had Keratosis pilaris for aslong as i can remember, although the condition has recently (within the past year) exacerbated. i've tried many things, including investing in Dermadoctor KP body scrub and body lotion. that was ineffective and expensive (80 dollars for both products). i went to the doctor about this and she said what basically everyone here already knows, that it's an innocuous genetic condition. she recommended some lotion, which again didn't work. what has worked for me is eating only raw food. after two weeks of only eating raw food my skin had almost completly cleared up. this diet was too difficult to keep up with, so now i've decided to try, against the advisement of every keratosis pilaris site, 10 percent benzoyl peroxide. i know they're not pimples, but i used it last night and my skin already feels smoother (there are less red dots). it's supposed to dry my skin, but at this point i'd rather have dry skin than bumpy red skin. my logic behind it is simply that it will parch the little red bumps until they die, which seems to be the case. oils and creams just intensify the redness and make the bumps protrude further out. anyway, this is what seems to be working for me. all information is empirically obtained, so it may or may not work for you.

Hey

Yeah, I also think that lotions and cremes make the kp look and feel worse.. or maybe its just certain peoples skin reactions. So i stopped using them
And, I also find that some products made for acne/pimples help with KP too (glycolic/salicylic acid worked for me)
Keep posted how the benzoyl peroxide turns out.

I tried benzol peroxide for KP. It didn't work for me, although it was a great help in clearing up acne on the face.

Still, I think everyone should give stuff a try for themselves. If you do go with it, I would suggest purchasing it from http://www.clearskinregimen.com/
It is hard to find BP that comes in a large enough tube to use on a large area of the body, and this stuff is much cheaper than the little spot treatment tubes you'll find at the store.

I had some success using Oxy 10% Benzoyl Peroxide acne cream. I applied it once at night before I sleep and it was able to smoothen the smaller colorless bumps. However, the bigger nastier red bumps are quite immune to it.

For me, I found that the trick is to apply nightly or even twice a day until the skin becomes really dry and starts peeling/flaking on its own. The newer skin underneath would then make the bumps appear to be less raised as it used to. In time, the small bumps should flatten.

However, when I tried this on the larger bumps (which are usually red), I ended up with a big red patch which resembled an irritated rash.
