Exclamation Help! Did something stupid with coconut oil

Hi all,

So a week ago I got the bright idea to try coconut oil as a shaving cream. Stupid!! A couple hours later my leg was killing me, and now the skin feels so rough! Luckily while I was shaving I got a phone call, so I never finished. But the skin on my lower leg feels terrible. Any suggestions?

Oh and someone please tell me that my skin will eventually get better...

Thanks!

Hi! Don't worry, it will get better...i did the same thing a few weeks ago and got a horrible razor burn....Just give it about 4 days...that is how long it took mine to finally heal! Sorry it happened...I did it before going to bed and when I woke up the next morning...it hurt and looked terrible...guess i did not use enough oil! lol Just keep it moisturized and don't shave and it will be okay!

Blessings
Aldara

Thats odd, I shave with it and it makes my skin feel better than ever and gives me a close shave. It is funny how everyone's skin is so different. I have never had razor burn though so I guess my leg skin is not sensitive like my arms.

Well here it is 12 days later and my leg still hurts. It's also super rough and looks horrible... it made my KP look even worse, much more red I guess I thought I'd get smoother legs by using coconut oil, but nope! I made an appt. with the doc for tomorrow just to make sure I didn't totally screw up my leg. I'll post an update later. Thanks for the advice!

I wonder if you had some type of allergic reaction? Please keep us posted!

This is bizarre! I break out with everything when I shave and I have had zero problems since I started using the EVCO to shave. I even got my husband to start using it and he no longer gets those ingrown hairs and bumps on his neck.

You must have some allergy to it that was made worse by using the razor and maybe opening the hair shaft or something. So sorry!!!

Hi guys,

Well they cancelled my appt on me, so I'm going in on Monday afternoon. As for shaving with coconut oil, please do a patch test on a small, not so noticeable area first, and wait 24 hrs to see how your skin reacts. Unfortunately I shaved my entire lower leg and it's a mess. Maybe I didn't use enough oil, but if I had tried a small area first, I could've avoided my current situation. At least it's working for some of you!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to post an update. My skin is back to normal... well, if we can call KP normal At least it's not as rough as it was after my coconut oil stunt. Thanks for the support!
