Burning?
So for those who have had tanning make a big difference in their kp, I was wondering how quickly it affected it and how big of a change did you notice?
I have never been tanning and to be honest I'm a little nervous about trying it, i'm a guy, and it seems a little strange, not sure why. Are tanning places private? (meaning, i don't have to bare my mostly kp covered chest and arms in front of anyone)? thanks in advance for any replies - |

I have never been to a tanning salon, yet I can tell you that getting a tan on my arms the past summer/fall beat the KP in those areas into submission. The bumps and redness were almost completely gone. I was out in the sun a couple of hours a day on average for about two months (August to Late October). The KP slowly started returning to those areas around Christmas time.
I do believe the majority of tanning salons are completely private. |

The hair salons in my area, that have tanning beds, have very private rooms, similar to small bedrooms with a tanning bed instead, and the rooms only have one bed, a door that shuts, not a curtain. Best of luck

Yeah, i just spend alot of time at the beach.
Dont worry, nobody can notice your KP unless they get REALLY close |

When I tan, I find it affects my KP quickly. However, be cautious about using it as a solution. I used to tan regularly to control my KP, but decided I didn't want wrinkles or skin cancer in my 20's (I have naturally fair skin)! I did tan before I was in a wedding last fall, and used sunscreen on my face (which has no KP), since it burns more quickly than the rest of my body. It worked well, and I plan to do the same again since I'm going to Maui (YAY!!) in May and will tan for a month before.
Good luck going bumpless! |

thanks!
thanks for all the replies! I don't intend to tan on a very regular basis, even if it wipes my kp away completely. I have rosacea as well as kp (yeah, double the fun) and would love to spend the summer in a t-shirt with a semi red face instead of the summer with a long sleeve shirt and blazing red face.
thanks again ![]() |

i live in australia, and recently went to Spain and Greece when it was really hot over there, i let my arms burn...and they went REALLY red for about 4 days and then they started to peel.....and OMG my arms were CLEAR for the 1st time ever in my life!!!
Now, 6 months later the KP is unfortunenlty back but not as severe as i used to have it! |

So how long did it clear you up for? I'm curious
![]() on the other hand, I have never really sunburned before in my life, genetically, my skin is somewhat tanned complexion already, but with three years of hiding my arms, my skins pretty pale nowadays. |
