Laser Hair removal
Has anyone tried / heard any information at all about removing your hair on your arms (killing the hair follicle with laser) for KP?
Any thoughts are welcomed!!! Just thinking...if there´s no hair, they wouldn´t get plugged, and the laser makes the pores weaker... it just sounds like a possible treatment that could be permanent... I´m I dreaming????? ![]() |

I hope it works, but I've read many a thread on this topic already where it didn't work. Not saying it won't work for you, just saying I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. Also, there are many KP sufferers who are very hairless, so to speak. I don't think the actual hair is causing the problem so much as the consistancy of the sebum inside the follicle. I have had KP in places where I have waxed and they still get clogged. Still, it might be worth a shot! Please report back with your findings. You may find the solution for us! Or you may save a lot of people from spending a lot of $$. Either way, we'd appreciate it!

I´ve heard mixed reviews on the topic, and it´s expensive too!! but so are all the lotions and potions we need to use and try foreverrrrr!!, so maybe it´s worth trying.
My only concern if it gets worse!. Has anybody heard of a bad reaction to this? ![]() |

Re: Laser and KP
I had laser hair reduction using the Coherent Lightsheer diode system for over 3 years (some 12+ treatments) done on both my arms and legs (partially in an attempt to reduce my KP).
It didn't help at all with KP. It only affected the hairs themselves. |

That's what I was afraid of...

You are lucky if the laser treatments even affect your hair, let alone your kp... I had treatments done for 2 years, and when I stopped, the hair grew right back... save your money. trust me.

Hey all,
just a thought, but as far as i know-the lasers target the pigment in the hair root. If the hairs are too light, it will "fry" your hair on the surface, but it wont kill the root. Im in the process of going for laser hair removal now & ive only been for one treatment so far & already ive seen a major difference. I would suggest electrolysis for fair hairs, as it electrically shocks each individual hair(takes a long time though) and kills it. |

That's exciting Jess that you're doing it now!!!. Please do keep up posted. I know about the hair being too light not being able to work....
But I will like to try it anyway... I will go through every single treatment, cream, method, idea, that I've heard for KP... I will not give up... will not give up... Good luck on the laser and we'll be waiting to hear from you ![]() |

Well I was looking at my legs and the dots I have are the result of coiled up hairs. Will laser be able to remove these hairs?

im sure the laser will get the hairs. It doesn't just zap the hair in the surface, but it does down into the sub-dermal layers of the skin and zaps the root as well

Different lasers work for different people, there are many fakes & poor lasers out there, clinics that have purchased cheap lasers or earlier models. I have been ripped off & tricked many a time, go for IPL - I can personally vouch for the Lumines brand - fantastic!!! I've tried 4 different lasers before this one I nearly gave up. IPL definitely the best. Also Elos Aurora is meant to be good for blonde hairs which may be more effective for KP because it is usually the very fine hairs that don't make it through, I also think that Elos Aurora is more of a thermal hair remover so it targets the follicle rather than travelling down the hair shaft, but can't remember the specifics sorry. I was going to try the Elos but the Lumines has worked so fantastically for me, unfortunately I cannot tell you whether it works for KP because I have never had KP in the areas that I have treated.

Thanks for the feedback KPonthighs!..
How much improvement did you see? 10%, 50%, 80% ? I'm very hopeful because this can greatly and lastly improve the condition overall ![]() |

Oh sweetheart I was talking about the hair removal mostly for Jack's benefit. I haven't had the ipl hair removal on any areas that have KP - although I did try Coolglide on my legs but that is not an effective laser & is one of the most overpromised hair removal methods for fair skinned people around & it didn't help my KP.
As for the hair removal I have had 90% improvement :-) I am going to try photodynamic therapy which is a laser treatment using a light sensitising product called ALA. I am booked in on the 25th of October unless I can manage to completely clear my KP before then I will give it a go. I will post once I have tried the treatment & will get before & after photos too. |

I have been thinking about trying laser hair removal for a couple of years now. I have KP on my legs as well, but I'm not really hoping the hair removal will take care of it - I'm more interestd in getting rid of the hair. Some women have very little hair on their leg and can get away with quickly shaving every morning. I'm not that lucky!! I have a question, though. I am fair haired. The majority of the hair on my legs is sort of a light brown colour I guess, but some hairs are definitely white, so I guess there's no hope for those ones. I'm just worried it won't work that well because my hair isn't really dark. Has anyone had real success with this who's hair isn't really dark? Also, what exactly is involved with the process? My skin is rather sensitive, so I'm wondering if they put anything on your legs first to clean them? Any harsh chemicals or lotions? I'm worried that my skin may get too irritated and I won't be able to have the treatments. Thanks.
