KP on my stomach... does anyone else?

Hi, i have KP on my arms, thighs, butt, stomach and a lil bit on my back. im just curious to see where other people have kp because i've been looking everywhere all over the internet to see where people can get it, and i've never heard of someone getting KP on their stomach... so i was just wondering if i wasnt alone.. I feel so alone because it seems like most people only get it on there arms and legs i feel like my kp is really abnormal because i have it in so many places... please reply sum1

hey there

please don't be sad....you'll get thru this and keep trying to find something that works for you. i took accutance years ago and because i was genetically prone to kp....it spread like wildfire. i also get bumps here and there on my stomach and back. when i touch other peoples shoulders and arms and upper back i just wanna cry. But i've been doing a number of things.

Some lotions work better than others. I take beta carotene every day and that keeps many/most of new bumps from resurfacing.

Our disorder is this: our body doesn't slough off the surface level skin cells fast enough and produces too much keratin (a protein abundant in skin cells). Vita A is definitely part of this pathway...it regulates vita A production in some way.

Also I use over the counter st. ives with salicylic acid. Some people have mentioned "philosophy soul owner crea" which has high glycolic acid content. Some suggest virgin coconut oil.....read the threads.

Please email if you have any questions,
i'd be more than happy to be there for you.

I also have it on my stomach, and it is a big pain in the... stomach. That area does not seem to respond to treatments in the same way as my arms, legs, and butt. I'm thinking it is because that skin is not as tough. Right now I'm having good luck with a 10% alpha hydroxy lotion there (got on drugstore.com; brand is Alpha Hydrox) although that lotion hasn't really helped anywhere else.

So, even if you find something that works for most of your body, but not for your stomach, that doesn't mean the stomach is not treatable- you just need something different. Mine is staying reasonably clear with the alpha hydroxy.
Good luck!

I started getting it on my stomach after my DS was born. It's always been on my arms and backside. I've been on the coconut oil regimen for a few days so too early to tell whether or not it will be successful.

hey there

start dirnking carrot juice once a day and slowly observe if new bumps appear. if so increase to one and half-two cups. kp has helped many, including myself, in preveting and generally controlling the new rascals from coming back. vita a (take beta carotene form only cause it's the safe form of vita a ) seems to control our overactive keratin production.

later,

daze

I have KP a little on my stomach and back. It doesn't bother me so much because it's not red and it's pretty mild in those areas - not to mention not really ever exposed for anyone to see. I mainly have it on my upper arms and thighs. All I have been using is L'Oreal Sublime Sunless tanning and I'm not sure what is in it but my arm's are almost completely bump free. I have a few bumps which are very flat and barely any redness. I'll apply it a couple of times a day (about 3 x's - waiting an hour or so in between applications). I do this for 2 or 3 days then I don't use it for a couple of days because I don't want to get too dark. It dries out my skin but I only apply moisturizer when it starts to look flaky (I noticed moisturizer makes my bumps more pimply looking). I use Cetaphil bar cleanser and only exfoliate about once a week. I also stopped picking which makes a HUGE difference. I have been wearing short sleeves and my arms are smooth to the touch. I haven't had as good of results on my thighs as on my arms but I also have not been applying it as frequent to my thighs as my arms. I should also mention that my thighs have improved but just not as much as my arms. I cannot say for sure that the improvement is from the sunless tanning product - the warm weather may also be a factor - but the stuff is cheap and I noticed results within a couple of days so I'm really curious for someone else to try this to see if it works. If anyone try's this - use it for a couple of days like I said and please post your results.

Most drug stores carry it. Try CVS, Rite Aid, Target, Wal-Mart.

Most of my kp is on my stomach and it's a severe case. I also have it on my buttocks and a little on my legs. You're not alone.
