The latest idea's from Dickie
Ok, so far i've narrowed down a WHOLE load of questions and answers and possible solutions...we all did, and then it all got lost. However i remember most of what i posted till it had gone.
(And i think i may have had a breakthough the day before we lost the board!) Here is a list of lotions, pills and other methods that seem to have helped me, i'll also include a description so you can understand why it helped and maybe you can pin point which one will help you best. Lotions: Nivea Firm treatment creme (CoQ10) - Directly because of the CoQ10 in it, helps to maintain heathy skin on the outside. Link Neutrogena Bump minimizer - Uses AHA's and Sal Acid to remove the bumps, no cure but 'CAN' help/reduce the problem depending on how severe it is. Link Sulphur soap + Sal 3% - Alot of people swear by it, and the people that dont, i fear may not be using it right? If KP is on arms, just apply on arms and before washing off lightly massasge with stiff brush or pumous stone. Link Pills: Garlic + C & Horseradish Tablets (Natures way) - Mucas gets congested in the body and the body needs to flush it out. It does this via the kidneys...slowly...which can have adverse effects on your health and they say your skin is a sure sign of your health. Garlic tablets flush the Mucas membranes out completely within 3 - 6 months and you should have a healthier respritory system, get less head aches and MAYBE you'll notice your KP looks better (no promises). Link Ginkgo 2000 (Cenovis) - Ginkgo is a plant that when taken can help your blood circulation, memory, concentration and a healthier respritory system. How i can link this with KP is some people beleive that the respritory system and blood circulation has a vital roll...and I promise i didnt buy it for this reason, but it can give blokes bigger erections, and sex is better for both male and female ...suposedly. To increase your stamina, blood circulation and respritory system even further you may want to do light exercise in the mornings.Link Echinia Complex (Cenovis) - A plant that also helps against mucas and other signs of cold and flu, what sparked an interest in this with me is that it states it can help mild skin conditions so i gave it a go. Link Odourless Cod Liver Oil (Cenovis) - What more can i say? Packed full of Vit A and D, what our skin needs to be great...hell its what our bodys need to be working at its best. This is a must have even if you dont have KP! Link CoQ10 - Any brand of CoQ10 tablet, try to use at least over 100mg, i couldnt find anything stronger than 50mg but im trying it anyway. CoQ10 is great for your heart and blood and may actually be the answer we are looking for. Other Practical Treatments: Sun Burn - I know, it isnt the greatest idea to get burnt, but when i take these pills and use these lotions its like my skin has stoped being 'unhealthy' and produces ALOT less of the '****' that makes KP, so getting burnt just takes off the exess '****' and it doesnt come back anywhere near as much. Weight loss - It worked for me, the bigger i was the more KP i had, and the worse it looked, now i've lost about 20kg i'd say it looks 50% better. If anybody wants any good pointers for losing weight just ask. (I've been there, done that ![]() Sauna - I used a sauna for the first time the other day, went in with mild KP, came out with NONE...then 15 minutes later it started to come back...but 15 minutes in the sauna is healthy, it releases toxins from your body just like antioxidents in tea. 15 minutes in a sauna is like drinking 5 litres of tea...and you dont need to pee as badly. Exercise - To the point you sweat, release those toxins! Remove the **** from your skin. I started to get KP when i was in primary school because i stoped being active, i sat infront of a TV or a computer for a year and i got KP. I beleive this is a good reason for my KP's sucess. ------------------ All these things have impacted my KP in a good way I'm currently taking all those pills and the Neutrogena and Sulphur Soap. I exercise, lost weight and i get a healthy amount of sun exposer (luckily i've tanned, so i dont burn that easily anymore!). 15 minutes of sun exposure a week is all that your body needs to get the Vid D it needs...but i think i'd like 2 hours at the beach a day . Im also taking a Multi Vitamin which may help.I put the producer of the pill in brackets just so you know what ones im taking that have helped. When (not IF!) i get rid of my KP completely, and it is gone, i still wont stop taking Cod liver oil and garlic tablets. Not only are they a good reason for my KP going, i feel and look more healthy! Good luck with your KP, and i hope the above helps, just a recap of my KP battle in the last month or so. I'm also taking Green Tea, one of the best, FILLED with anti oxidents which may help my skin? who knows... |

Wow, thanks for that!!
Another thing I'm trying now is a form of the "aspirin mask" on my arms. Well, I used it on my face two and my skin has glowed!! I've only done it on my arms twice, and it did feel and look a bit better, but I want to try it for at least a month before I make any grandiose statements. ![]() |

Hi,
I'd like to share that we started using a coconut oil on my daughters skin the past couple of weeks and there has been a big improvement in her arms. We are going to continue this, also use sweet almond oil when she needs a change, but only these 2 oils, and see how it goes. She was starting to get some spots down by her wrists again and they are gone. Upper arms still have some spots but honestly, she is doing much better than she ever did with anything a dermatologist prescribed, using natural oils. Has anyone here tried this? I am interested to know. Molsmom |

Garlic tablets
Hi Dickie,
Here I was thinking I'd missed out on so much, since I haven't been on the forum for almost a month. Then I saw that all of the info. was lost anyway! So, thanks for the recap and all of your updates. Wow. You take a lot of supplements! I'm tempted, but always worry there will be side effects people don't know of, like the ma huang and ephedra that is being banned in the U.S. I'm curious about the garlic pills though; I've heard they're really good for you. BUT, have you ever noticed body odor, urine, etc. smelling more potent or like garlic? I've heard that can be a side effect . . . |

I buy odorless garlic tablets, and odorless cod liver oil
Ahhh normal cod liver oil sucks, tastes like ****...then you burp and you get to taste the **** a 2nd time! There is absolutely no side effects with either, no smells. Well thats not entirely true, after the first few weeks on garlic tablets i spat alot, the mucas was literally leaving my body, i had to spit it out or swallow it, for a week or 2. After that i felt much healthier, and my arms started to improve. But body oder...nothing worse than usual I wont touch any medication unless i've read into it. And i've found out garlic is like keeps bad things like colds, coughs and vampires away, and also helps mild skin irritations. If we were to live in the jungle still, eating pickable fruits and eating wild animals, we would get sufficient vid A and D in our bodys, but we dont. We eat dairy and wheat products, they have taken over our food pyrimid. Cod liver oil is filled with A and D which are both good for the skin. I'm also taking a Vitamin E supliment, because A, D and E are prime skin helpers |

Some more Pills
You can actually get Antioxident's in a pill i just realized, so i'll be giving them a go Vit B - Great for your skin, your body flushes out Vit B all the time and needs to be replaced. Zinc - Used for energy and blood Omega 3, 6 and 9 - More of those fish oils and flax seed oils in this All are made be Cenovis. |

Good job, Dickie! I think I remember a post by someone before the site went down, and the person was very mad at God for giving him/her kp. I thought about that a lot, and then I realized that if the problem gets the person the change his health status, then the kp is actually a blessing in disguise. What do you think?

Nah, no way can i look at KP as a blessing...its one of the biggest obsticals that bastard in the sky could put infront of a healthy normal person.
Besides, i dont blame him for it . I dont really beleive in god at all, sometimes i do, sometimes i dont, most time i dont care...I acknoledge religions and apreciate there values, but if religions didnt exist at all, most of us would be living a peaceful life as 'god' would of wanted it. After all 99% of the human races wars were about religions and women. (Olden day kingdoms, jealous kings would fight entire empires over 1 woman...hence Troy).I only blame god in jest. Most people have KP, a few dots on the back of the arms, but god thought it would be funny to give it to me all over the upper arms and the fore arms...and im still laughing. |

Heh! I've read a lot of well established arguments for and against God, but never considered the 'Spotty Backside' hypothesis as I now think of it!
If you were God it would be boring to have load of clear skinned humans trudging around in a mundane way. Perhaps he wanted a few spotty ones to make things interesting! Perhaps in our image obsessed world its a test of our strength to deal with an unsightly condition. I'm not theistic, but its an idea! Ol. |

Dickie:
Thanks a lot for your very detailed research and information. You pretty much have summed up and confirmed what other's have suggested of what's worked for their KP. I am taking your advice on the supplements. I think we have to try to combat KP from the inside much more than just from the outside. I already have the cod oil and the Co10 pills, but still need to get the garlic pills. ![]() |

Thanks
Hi all.
Thanks Dickie. I'm new to the forum (in fact I was a forum virgin before today), but old to the affliction. Hope you don't mind Dickie, but I've printed off your list and I'll get to work straight away. Ironically(stupidly). I was diagnosed as a teenager in Australia and have sinced moved to London. It's 2 Celcius today, so no prizes for guessing how the KP is looking. Upper arms, thighs, shoulders and lower back are all red and bumpy. The only good thing about cold weather is that no one looks at you when you're all covered up.( By the way if anyone can tell me the best source for Neutrogena or whatever here it would be much appreciated, Walmart is not an option.) I found this site a couple of months ago. Brilliant. I'd just resigned myself after my diagnosis all those years ago. I'm sure that sounds familiar. I have started with a few products and a seaweed scrubber, but no luck after two months. Mind you, God knows what I'd look like if I wasn't using them. Let's not find out. Now that I've found you all, I'll be paying close attention. Nic P.S. I have a close female mate who has bad eczema (spelling?). She loves garlic tables and fish oil (odourless) and has a friend who argues cod liver is better. Either way, our fishy friends must have something to offer. |

Cod liver is great for the immune system and skin pretty much general health, fish oil if im thinkin its the same thing is great for the heart which can be linked to skin if it has somethin to do with circulation, i take Omega 3-6-9 suppliments, and omega 3 is found in fish and is basically a large percentage of fish oil...so i take em both basically.
I dont mind ya printing off my mind, thats why i put it up .On a seperate note. Everyone knows how great Dove soap is right? I use sulphur soap at the moment but when thats gone im going to give this new dove soap a go...this new dove soap(Well its new to Australia, i could be reinventing the wheel here for you americans) has beeds in it that exfoliate the skin. Dove soap is great because its not soap. A soap works with chemicals that react with your own body fats and oils to act like a degreaser to remove filth, ever used dish washing liquid alot and had really dry hands? Its the oils disolving in your hands. Normal soaps are good for your hygene, but not your skin. Dove soaps works differently, im not sure how but it doesnt use your own body oils and fats to combat dirt, instead it has moisturisers in it, so it not only leaves you clean but moisturized aswell, where normal soap would leave you clean and you may not feel it but dryer skinned. http://www.dove.com/products/f_exfoliate_beautybars.asp Also heres the nutrium bar that people seem to have claimed does a good job http://www.dove.com/products/f_nutrium_bar.asp and a sensitive bar that can help some skin disorders...possibly KP aswell? http://www.dove.com/products/f_sensitive_bar.asp |

I spoke to a dermatologist today. [no offensive content please]
I went in and talked about a mole on my arm, i was refered to him because it looked odd. He said quickly that it was fine and i thought i may aswell ask about the spots on my arms, and he not only knew what it was, but his son had it aswell...and on the face. He said he has experimented making lotions and potions and just found that using a cream called Lanlin...i havnt heard about it before and when i search for it on the net i get Lanolin which is the name of some creams that may help so he may of refered to that. He even explained KP to me (which i already knew) and he also explained how this cream will work. So i'll be gettin some soon. Last edited by Mel; 03-05-2004 at 07:24 PM.. |
