Toddler (1 year) with KP--how do I treat it?

My son has had what I think must be KP since birth. I keep forgetting to ask about it at his appointments. In the beginning, it just wasn't a priority and at his one year appt, it was oddly better. In the last month, I have noticed that it has become worse and even visible. I have tried baby oil but not seen a difference. What works best with this age?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Rachel

Exclamation Steer clear of baby oil!!!

Baby oil doesn't work! It actually makes it worse by drying out the skin. It sits on top of the skin like soap scum and traps in toxins because the molecules are too large to be absorbed by skin. It's also been listed as a known carcinogen! My dermatologist actually recommended I give baby oil a shot, right after she said, "You might as well get used to KP, there's no cure). Great, really helpful, huh?
And what's worse, 98% of American cosmetics, toiletries, etc., contain it in one form or another (look for words starting with petro-). Since Israel banned its use, there's been a 50% decrease in breast cancer over the course of a decade!

Now, you're wondering, "well, what the heck am I supposed to use?!?", right?
I've had great success with my daughter with Arbonne's ABC line. I used the wash and sunscreen. Another member (on the forum) used the oil and had success with her daughter. I have 4 mom friends that used the ABC line on their children and also cleared them up. One even had eczema, and it's gone, too! Now, 2 of them had to use the whole line (except the diaper rash cream) because their children had severe cases, it may differ for you based on your child's KP.

Arbonne's all-herbal and botanical, hypo-allergenic, and free of mineral oil, animal products and by-products, so very few people have any irritation.

You can email me for more info if you'd like: allisonsullivan@insightbb.com
I hope I've helped in some way. Good luck!

Also you may want to write down your meals and what was eaten, because it can be something that was eaten that is affecting it.

foods?

Are there certain foods that are known to aggravate KP? My son has such a small appetite to begin with that I hate to mess with his food too much right now. It isn't so much that he's picky as he's too busy to eat these days!

I would switch to scent free laundry detergent and I have been using the ABC line on my daughter and it has been working well.

Some people have had trouble with dairy, but not me. In fact, while I ws nursing my daughter, I had to go off dairy entirely to see if she was allergic to it (she wasn't) and my KP didn't get any better at all. Still, others have switched to non-dairy diets and have seen some relief...
Also, stay away from meats with growth hormones (hormones have been linked to KP). "Laura's Lean Beef" and "Perdue" chicken are good choices for no antibiotics and no hormones, as well as vegetarian-fed hen eggs. I realize your son may be a little young for this, but I wouldn't want you to start him down a road that will make his condition worse...

You might also want to try to use Coconut Oil, on the tub that I have of it, it says it can be used as a baby oil

well in my case its not actually Lactose or anything that i am allergic to, its the Whey in dairy products... the only milk I can have is goats milk, all other dairys carry whey. its kinda of a trial and error thing.
