I'm New
Hello, everyone!
I'm so glad I found this forum through Wikipedia! (Just wanted to say.) I have had KP on my upper arms since I was about 7 years old, and I am now 20. I have been going frantic recently about treating it, since as a child and then a teen, I would scrub my arms raw in the shower because of how they looked (very, very many raised red bumps). Over the past 2 years or so, I've developed KP on my forearms that doesn't go away. Now I've noticed more on my shoulders and small bumps (not red yet) on the back of my hands. I didn't know this could spread, but I'm scared at how far it will go... and that's what has brought me here. I've bought the lotion from Bath & Body Works but have only used it for a few days and besides having smoother-feeling skin, it hasn't changed the appearance of my KP. I noticed several threads on coconut oil, so I want to give that a try. Anyway, thank you all for creating a community like this so that we all don't have to suffer by ourselves. Thanks, ~Monika P.S. How do Nicole Kidman and Michelle Rodriguez get rid of their KP? Is there some surgical way to get it removed? |

Wow, maybe 7 is the age when "all KP hell breaks loose"?
Thank you, Spot and Dani, for replying to my first post. I read somewhere that KP is the worst during the teen years and into early 20s, then usually disappears by age 30. However, 10 years is a long time to wait... so I hope that together, we can all find a way to treat the symptoms or help each other cope with them. I'm very self-conscious about my KP, so I wear long-sleeved or 3/4 sleeve length shirts (of thinner material in the summer, which around here gets to 90-105 degrees) even though there used to be rumors that I was a "cutter." (Luckily, the in-crowd almost always finds new, more exciting people to gossip about.) I guess the rate and areas that the KP is spreading to scares me. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only person going through this and that there are other people who are trying treatments and hopefully will share their results. I know I will. |

Yeah, I had no idea it spreads...
I am really hopeful on the coconut oil though, as alot of people had good results with it. While I do hope that it'll start clearing up when I'm in my 30's, I read on a poll somewhere here that the majority of people selected "My KP has not improved with age". ![]() |

I don't know if there's a "magic" age but I'm 32 and noticing KP on my upper arms and chest for the first time in my life! Very frustrating!

I didn't even get KP until I was 26. I'm 30 now. I even read one person's post who was 57. Doctors don't know much about this. Even the Mayo Clinic's website had little to offer.
