What to exfoliate with???
Hi I've had this problem for years now but just recently learned what it is and how it is treated. I've been picking at my arms, chest, basically anthing I see a bump on based on the incorrect thinking they were a pimple (looks like puss coming out???) Well now I know better and I really want to attempt to fix it, or that is control it correctly. It seems like Coconut Oil is the way to go in order to moisturize, but I'm not sure what to do for exfoliating? I've read about the sea salt scrub from Arbonne International but that stuff is almost $30/bottle, seems really expensive, is there anything else that works that is cheaper than this. Oh, I'm also using Lac-Hydrin -12% lotion but that doesn't seem to be working so well.
Thank you in advance for all your suggestions/help ![]() |

There are certainly cheaper alternatives. I know the cheapest that many people have used is the St. Ives apricot scrub. I've used it and it works okay. Worth a try at about three bucks. I am currently using a bath scrubby towel (can't think of a better way to describe it) with sulfur soap and a few times a week I use a salt scrub from Bath and Body Works, but I think any old salt scrub would work. You could use any kind of physical exfoliation- pumice sponge, puff, whatever- with which ever product you wanted for a cheap way to start off. You just have to experiment and find out what products work for you. Apparently some people don't exfoliate at all becaues it increases their redness. You might want to find that out before you spend thirty bucks on a scrub

Well, I'll give it a shot, I'm hoping the Coconut Oil works, cuz I really hate the Lac-Hydrin smell

Oh yeah, I remember that (everyone started with Lac-Hydrin/AmLactin I think). I called it my cat pee lotion. It really did stink.

I exfoliate 3x a week with a salt scrub and then the rest of the days I exfoliate with bath gloves, I am not really sure what you call them but they really help to get the skin off without irritating my arms
oh yeah sugar scrubs also work really well. I dont think that they are as harsh as salt based ones because the sugar melts so fast when you are rubbing it in |

soap
I recently purchases an exfoliating soap. It's called Burt's Bees Citrus Spice Exfoliating Shower Soap, and it worked wonderfully on my skin! The bumps are a lot smoother. At night I also use AmLactin Cream (I had to ask the pharmacist for it but its not a prescription) My skin is looking a lot smoother!

Just a thought, salt is very drying! I always use sugar scrubs instead for that reason. |
