Question Amlactin XL?

Well, today I found out that I have keratosis pilaris, and I'm so relieved to finally know what the bumps all over my thighs and butt are! My mom always said that it was just because of my dry skin and that if I moisturized more, they'd go away, and for years I've been telling her that's not true, because no matter how much lotion I put on my skin and how moist (or dry) it is, the bumps are still prominent. And then I finally found out and it was relieving and pretty sad at the same time. At least it's only a cosmetic problem and not a big health issue or anything. I'd rather have this than painful eczema (which I had a horrible bout with this past winter--it sucks to wake up with open sores all over your itchy areas...) or something even worse.

ANYWAY, to the point: my derm told me to purchase Amlactin XL lotion (on the tube it says "high potency alpha-hydroxy therapy for rough, dry skin"). Have any of you used it with success or seen any improvement from it? I've been doing a lot of reading on the forums and coconut oil seems to be popular with a lot of you.... Also, I read in a few places that KP goes away as one gets older, but my doctor told me this morning that it never really heals. Thoughts?

Anything new on this AmLactin XlL? Looks like a very promising product, as I have had good results with AmLactin 12% and Salex 6%(used at the same time, or one in the morning one at night). This may totally remove the KP to 100%. $39.95 for 5.6 ounces seems high though.
