Keep soaps away from KP in the shower
Hey, over the past few weeks my KP has gotten better.
I've been taking a multivitamin along with a fish oil supplement and vitamin E every day, and I've also been working out, but I think the biggest thing that helped me was keeping all soaps AWAY from the problem areas. For me, the KP is on my outer arms. So when I take a shower, I let the water wash over that area, but the soaps never touch it. There's basically a gap where the soap stops at my shoulders and starts at my elbow. I have found that all soaps, no matter how gentle, cause the KP to get red. I noticed that the redness lessened by around 20-25% by keeping soaps away from this area. I just did NOTHING to the areas with KP except let water run over them and they've improved a little. The downside to this is that the texture of my arms was very *****ly because of the plugs, but today yesterday I started applying Salex 6% cream and my arms are softer, though I can't tell yet if it's made my arms any redder, but I don't think it has. So yeah. When you're in the shower, try completely skipping over the areas with KP. I make it a priority to wash my stank zones in the shower, but luckily the areas that are known to get KP usually aren't home to stinky sweat glands, so you should still be clean and stink-free. |

I did that, too. It didn't work for me. In fact, I never washed my outer upper arms specifically prior to getting KP in the first place. Unless they were particularly dirty...

I think the original poster was referring to no soap helping with the redness. I thought you never had the redness Allison? What about you Angelica? The minimal change you noticed- was it less redness? Thanks!

My redness is persisstant. No soap has only helped with the bumps. Sometimes it works and other times it does not. The redness is the biggest problem for me. It sucks! My KP hasnt been as bad as it is now for at least 4 years. I dont know what has changed but man is it embarrassing. KP makes me long for winter and long sleeves. lol

From my original post:
"I have found that all soaps, no matter how gentle, cause the KP to get red. I noticed that the redness lessened by around 20-25% by keeping soaps away from this area. I just did NOTHING to the areas with KP except let water run over them and they've improved a little. Keeping soap away did nothing to lessen the bumpy texture. I just noticed it reduced redness for me. Of course this means that even when I was rinsing off the soap in the shower, I angled my arms in ways where the soap run-off wouldn't touch the areas with KP. It's not my imagination, this does really help me. |
