I'm with you on this one.

I just posted that 6 weeks off of dairy has healed my KP!
I think people have to be really patient with seeing the results.
I only have sprouted grains occasionally as I am sensitive to wheat but feel that the removal of dairy was the main component in clearing up my skin.
Good for you on your diet. It feels amazing to eat so well!

On getting rid of just dairy: closer monitoring of what I eat shows that my foods doesn't actually contain any dairy at all (being Asian and all ) so I can't make any changes to my dairy consumption.

Goodluck: how'd you determine sugar is one of the contributing factors to KP? I noticed that for your breakfast you have lots of fruit (which are naturally high in sugar) and recommended carrot juice. Carrots contain the highest amount of sugar of any vegetable..

Listen Up People

HEY THERE:

please take heed. Yes, for many people inclduing myself....one, if not the only, main causes of kp is a vita a deficiency. Carrot juice and beta- carotene supplements have helped me a lot, thank God...

BUT do not, do not, do not take vitamin A (retinol) for long periods of time in large dosages. Vitamin A comes in mayn forms. The general vitamin A is the retin/retinol form. It is the active form. Beta carotene found in carrot juice and other red/orange vegies is the inactive form of vita A and is safe. It works better than taking regular vota A for us. Tehe regular Vita A retinol is dangerous for long periods of time. If you are pregnant it has been proven to cause defects in the gorwing baby. But beta carotene is safe for you and the baby....as far as I have researched.

I'm a molecular bio major. I know what i'm takin about.

It's definitely our diet ...listen to goodluck.

dairy

coconut oil was working great.. until it started getting worse, and i really think dairy was the culprit. I incorporate lots of fat free yogurt into my diet for the past few weeks (around the same time i started the oil), and I think the dairy is making the kp worse! so i recently stopped dairy to see if it gets better again. For example, the KP started appearing on my thighs.. and i hav enever had KP there before!

Cutting out dairy?

I think cutting out dairy is a bad idea. i mean, at least take some calcium supplements or something! it's one of the most important food groups!

It's not the best thing to do I know. Even though I take a general vitamin and also calcium supplements daily, i know it's not the same as getting the real thing. But I don't like the idea of my KP spreading all over my body either. So for now I'm picking the lesser of two evils. And plus you'd have to wonder.. if it's giving me a reaction like that.. it might be my body's way of telling me not to consume it.

I should look into other sources for my calcium other than dairy.

Soy is not Dairy

As far as I know dairy only comes from cows.
Soy comes from Soy beans.

Hi everyone, this site is so interesting. When I was 20, I went to a naturopath and she recommended huge doses of vitamin C for my skin as it helps your body use calicum etc. She had me take a powder form that cost a lot but was apparently better than those little sugary tablets. Also have fresh carrot and orange juice together everyday and lots of it (not from a bottle but through the juicer). I also liked to put pineapple with it (for taste) and found the crushed pineapple pulp left on the skin as a mask for a while smoothed it well. She also said for blood circulation to eat mandarines including the white pith. It all helped, but it is hard to keep up when you are busy in the morning. However when my kp is getting out of control I hit the juice and it really does help it.

Yeah, as another poster said, fruits and vegetables contain a lot of sugar.

So sugar itself is not contributing to the KP. There is pretty much no way to avoid eating a diet totally devoid of sugar (and not healthy either). Not all sugar is bad. Processed sugar is what makes people fat, usually. But the kinds in fruits are natural and harmless.

As for the vitamin A, I did notice a big improvement when I was taking a supplement of

Multivitamin
Vitamin A
Vitamin E
Fish Oil
Magnesium

However, drinking lots of carrot juice alone or JUST taking Vitamin A by itself did nothing.

I definitely see the correlation though as I had been taking the previously mentioned supplements minus Vitamin A for a while and saw no results. So it appears to me that one of the other vitamins/supplements is aiding in processing the Vitamin A.

Also, avoiding caffeine and aspartame appears to be helping the redness, though I can't give an absolute confirmation on that.

How is 100% whole wheat bread not made with flour? It's whole wheat flour.

hi Goodluck,

i would like to know how did you come up w/ this diet? is it mostly from this website? i dont think i can give up sugar/flour either, but it makes sense that it could be from something that we're eating that affects this..or it is heredity problem that we cannot solve.

To everyone on this thread...

Please take the time to read Baronster's thread called "The Worst Case of KP Cured Naturally" -
worst case of KP treated naturally-Success story on page 76

She cured her very severe case by going to see a naturpoathic doctor, getting tested for candida (bad yeast) and food sensitivities, and staying on a strict diet for a few months. I am currently seeing a doctor and being treated for an overgrowth of candida and I am giving updates too. You must have an open mind and it is a lot of reading, but it is worth it. It seems that most people that try the yeast and food intolerance route are making a lot of progress. Plus, an overgrowth of bad yeast can be the cause of many other illnesses: headaches, lethargy, food sensitivities, leaky gut syndrome, horrible periods, always being tired, sugar cravings....

I'm not saying that this is necessarily the cause of everyone's KP but if enough people try it, we may be able to find a common thread. Candida causes food sensitivities, which could be why some people have success elmininating different foods. But your body will become sensitive to new foods, so unless you take care of the root problem, it will never really completely go away.

Read Baronster's story and seriously consider seeing a docotor who can help you with these things. And Google candida - seriously.
