Unhappy Cremes/Lotions make my KP worse!

Okay well I had continued using the Lac Hydrin Five another couple of nights just to see if my skin had to get worse before improving but the bumps and redness just kept escalating.. and then I started to pick a couple.. and one thing led to the other and i ended up picking up and down both of my arms till they were an angry red. I had never seen them look like that before.. and when I picked there wasnt barely anything there (inside) at all.. so it wasnt really satisfying.

So before bed, just to calm my skin down, I took a cotton ball and rubbed Overnight Blemish Treatment by Avon Clearskin on my arms. It has salicylic and glycolic acid and alcohol etc in it. I didn't actually think it would do anything, I just put it on anyway and went to bed. This morning I woke up and my arms look great. The ugly redness is completely gone and its now the rosy tone thats always been there, and the bumps dont look bad at all.

So I think I'm going to lay off creams/lotions for a while. None of this started happening until I began trying treatments (Eucerin, Lac-Hydrin Five). I dont know though.. because most of the treatments everyone talks about ARE moisturizers. But they dont seem to do anything for my arms except make the KP look and feel worse. So I am stuck and I don't really know what to do.

Any advice? Pretty please?

If your skin doesn't feel tight, then you may not need any extra moisturizer. Since you had a good result with just the treatment, maybe trying that 2x/day and see where it leads you. You could be sensitive to the ingrediants in the lotions/creams. Maybe supplement with a scrub a couple times a week, and use a lotion when you feel exceptionally dry. I use a lotion with 10% glycolic acid, and it's just enough moisture for me. I've also used a product by Avon at night and did not have any problems with being too dry. Continue your regimen for a few days and see how it goes. Good luck!

Also, the mineral oil in the products can clog pores and cause breakouts. Look for something without petroleum, petrolatum (any petro-products) or mineral oil. 98% of lotions/moisturizers contain it...
