Meat tenderizer, vinegar, coconut oil WORKS

Well, I thought I'd share. I had a severe sunburn a while ago and was using vinegar to treat the sting. My skin looked amazing after I healed. At first, I thought it was b/c of the tan and peeling...but the tan has faded and skin is looking good with my night routine...in the am I just shower with cetaphil and use coconut oil after...I even wore a cap sleeve t-shirt! Of course, the tan hid the brown spots at the time....Now, the brown scars are bothering me

A gently GENTLY scrub with meat tenderizer and cetaphil or water. Leave on few minutes. (there is either bromelain or papain in the tenderizer...it dissolves protein/keratin)....I bought papain powder but it clumps in water. i'm still looking for solutions...

Then I shower and DO NOT use any soap and DO NOT scrub. If I used cetaphil with the tenderizer, I just rinse with water. Less is more.

Then I dry off and I apply Bragg apple cider vinegar as a toner. Check out the reviews on makeupalley...that's where I got the idea...that and good searches...Not as stinky as regular vinegar

I use coconut oil before I go to bed. Sometimes I skip the oil only b/c I don't know if it counteracts the vinegar. I LOVE this stuff.

I am having VERY few new bumps. Skin is SUPER smooth. I don't see any redness. Only thing that remains are the brown scars...I don't know what can be done about that. Maybe one day I will look into laser treatments...

Every now and then, I use baking soda instead of the meat tenderizer...

Will keep you updated!

Dont' know why but I just can't my head round use meat tenderiser on my skin .. I'd feel like I was about to stick myself under the grill

I'm very lazy, I've just been using an exofoliating sponge and the coconoil. Although twice a week I've also been using Scholl's hard skin remover exfoliator cream stuff. Put it on dry and massage in - it's got AHAs in and pumice bits and stuff.

Anyway - like KPstinks I'm not sure whether it's the coconoil doing its stuff or the fact I'm being quite disciplined about exfoliating, oiling and not picking, but it's all looking good. Also not sure if my diet is kicking in and the exercise and that all round I'm getting healthier. Whatever it is I don't care as long as its working. Diet is Montignac - essentially cutting out refined sugar, refined flours, wheat and bad carbs. If nothing else it ups my energy levels. I've gone from managing 10 mins on the exercise bike 3 weeks ago to just this morning doing 50 minutes plus 15 minutes on the rower. Something is working.

Thumbs up

LOL!!! Well, if I can EAT something and put it into my body...I certainly have no problem putting it ON my body And the papain and bromelain is what is in those fancy potions!

I'm glad you have something that is working! I found that scrubbing made mine worse...

Keep up the good work and keep working out!!!!

Please report your progress in 1-2 months

Good to read about some positive results. PLEASE report back (new thread) with your results in another one or two months. Better yet, I'd love to read monthly reports.

I thought I had found a method that worked, FaceDoctor soap/light exfoliation and jojoba oil. Unfortunately it stopped working after about a month and the KP returned.

I think there probably is something to the use of meat tenderizer. If you continue to have good results after several months I'll probably give it a try.

Will do! There is a liquid all natural papain tenderizer by 3-V or something like that...I think they only sell to restaurants...they are in Brooklyn, NY (close to me) and i'd love to get some...We shall see!!

I went to the mall today and in the dressing room, I saw my arms and didn't want to cry! LOL... no PERFECT (every now and then a very small bump) but really good...

Have to say I've never really 'scrubbed' my arms. Until I found this forum a) I thought I was in a huge minority having these bumpy arms, b) I just used to pick them and then cover them up, c) never really considered 'treating' it.

Since finding this forum, I've been doing the exfoliate, coconut oil thing with amazing results. I think I'll keep with that for now. But if it all goes pear shaped, then meat-tenderiser it is!

I actually went shopping the other day in tshirt and shorts which I havent done for years! It was such a good feeling! But I´ve got a surf holiday coming up...beach, bikinis... I´m scared my friends will give me weird looks. But I don´t want KP to keep me from doing stuff I enjoy so much!!! Hope the vinegar will help a little.

I think my situation was different b/c after my severe burn peeled, I had very few bumps...but they did then start to come back...and the vinegar and coconut oil seemed to keep them at bay...they are not "perfect" but SOOO good. Even hubby said so out of the blue...and I think a little tan really helps too

After having kp for so many years, going to dermathologists, buying creams... It is very frustrating. Never thought to use meat tenderizer, apple vinegar or coconut oil. Don't cost a try.
Thanks

cool idea. I was just coming around to this "enzymes break down proteins = vinegars and other enzyme-rich things should help break up the keratin plugs". (they also help break up biofilms - think a colony of bacteria with a protective slime, sometimes found in sinuses! :::musical accent::: dun-dun-duh!) Other things rich in enzymes are sherry and red wines, apple skins, bee pollen, buckwheat - if I'm readin the USDA data correctly that is. The meat tenderizer is something I will try by adding it to my sugar scrub instead of the ACV I currently use. Thanks - bd

I have to say that my arms look awesome...all scars have faded and it's smooth...Maybe not 100% like some of those girls who are blessed with amazing amazing arm skin..but good enough! I think the vinegar and coconut oil have A LOT to do with it. I've been lazy about the meat tenderizer...Best of luck! I can't believe it's been a year...There is no dount that this stuff works...

So what are you doing, rubbing the meat tenderizer right on your skin? Or are you putting it in water first?

Ditto with the vinegar, right?

Doesn't this stuff smell?

Re: Meat tenderizer, vinegar, coconut oil WORKS

Just checking in .... I ran out of coconut oil and my kp is a little worse...haven't used it in about a month...starting again ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

i mix the cetaphil and tenderizer and leave it on for a few minutes. Then rinse. In the PM I use the vinegar (yeah, stinks a bit for a little while) and in the am use the coconut oil.

Re: Meat tenderizer, vinegar, coconut oil WORKS

Yes it does work. It works a little too well for my sensitive skin. I used it in August, a couple months ago. The meat tenderizer (papain or bromelain) makes me peel a bit more than is comfortable so I backed off some time ago to just sugar or epsom salt scrubs. I stopped using vinegar when my husband is around since he _hates_ the smell. BUT I think this could be a VERY EFFECTIVE exfoliating program for certain skin types.
BRAVO, KPSTINKS!
I forget - have managed to get B4 and after photos up?
