my entire life i have had red bumps all over my upper arm and have just found a reasonable explanation for it which is KP. I am really lost about what to do about it, no one else i know has it and i feel slightly outcasted compared to many other people around me. I havent been to a docter about it though. I am very self conscious about it and i am looking for suggestions to help me out, i have purchased Lac-Hydrin Five lotion and have been applying it twice daily for a week and havent really gotten any results yet, any suggestions or tricks would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks, Mandi |

Many people have had great success with Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Just make sure the ingredient label doesn't list mineral oil or other petro-products, or you'll just be damaging your skin all the more (it dries you out by tricking your sebaceous glands into under-producing, which makes the KP worse) Also avoid SD 40 Alcohol, which does the opposite, tricks your seb. glands into thinking you're very dry, they go into hyperdrive, and boom! you're oily-city! Check out other posts to see what people are using!

Hi there! Glad you've found us...r/o
I was in the same position as you, suffered all my life with KP not knowing what it was and thinking I was a freak. I didn't know it was a condition with a name that other people had until I found this forum. So I'm glad you have, you don't have to go as long as me without help now
I think that treating Kp involves dedicated skin care on a regular basis with routines and products that you will find suggested on this forum. To me, I think the basis of KP treatment is a combination of exfoliation and moisturising with suitable products. Whatever you find is the best way to exfoliate, whether it's with scrubs; loofahs; pumice stones; bath puffs; or chemical exfoliants such as AHA/BHA's, it seems to be an integral part of keeping the problem under control. Then its important to moisturise with a body lotion. Often it helps to use one with healing ingredients like lavender, aloe vera etc. Products with glycolic acid, salycic acid and lactic acid are popular and often help. However, people have lots of different things that work for them, you need to try and test them out with the help of this forum to find out what works for you. I hope I've helped, good luck. ![]() |
