Potential: Papaya enzyme, vinegar, baking soda

I'm wondering if anyone has tried these. I just read that papain, the enzyme in papaya and meat tenderizer (I also remember reading that meat tenderizer is good for kp!) break down keratin. INTERESTING!!!

I'm also VERY interested in vinegar and baking soda.

The more I read, I see that expensive treatments contain these natural elements. I'm wondering if, in their purest and freshest states, if they might work!!!

You might try coconut oil, then. Some people have had good luck with that...

meat tenderizer

I was wondering where you read that about the meat tenderizer. This is the first time I've heard that one mentioned. Is it on the web somewhere? I would like to read more about it if so. Thanks!

oh gosh! i wish I kept track of all my googles! There is a lot about baking soda and papaya enzyme and applice cider vinegar online and some here....If I see anything in my next searches, I'll post....I just came across something about cows LOL...believe it or not and they said something about papain (sp?)- the enzyme in papaya dissolving keratin (haven't seen any cows with KP! I tried to find pure papaya powder but came across something that said that the main ingredient in meat tenderizer is that papaya enzyme (but actually, in the McCormick one I bought it's Bromelain (which is pineapple, which I also found stuff about regarding KP!)...

I'm recovering from a WICKED sunburn so the tenderizer scares me a little...one site said that it's good for jellyfish, etc stings and be cautious and never leave on for more that 1/2 hour...I'll probably just make a wash/scrub....

Tonight I'm trying the baking soda...maybe the vinegar! I don't know what to try first!!!!

I think I"m going to also re-begin taking my Omega 3&6, drink carrot juice, and then stuff...

Oh, BTW, I have been using the coconut oil for a few weeks....my skin looks great now mainly b/c of the burn believe it or not (I"m TOTALLY KP free b/c I BURNED AND PEELED SOOOOOOO Badly...but I'm s counting the days till the KP comes back)....The coconut is a grear moisturizer...not sure of the effects on KP

If anyone find pure papaya powder please let me know...there was one on ebay but the response from seller was shady...I don't think it was pure...I guess I can just mash fresh papaya....

I'm reading that in these expensive treatments, a lot is based on vinegar and these enzymes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

thanks

Thanks for your reply! I will have to try the meat tenderizer in the shower as a scrub today! I hope it works! (My KP is worse than ever after having my 3rd child.) I am getting the coconut oil this Friday. Let me know how yours works for you, OK? And I will post and let you know about mine, too! Also, I am buying the Arbonne products mentioned in the other posts and trying them. Maybe something will work for me eventually!

Papain powder can be ordered on Amazon....I just got some...

Further to that....a papain-urea cream is available by prescription...known as ziox...panafil...gladese...accuzyme, ethezyme 830....saw some online and very expensive..more later when I look these up!

By the way, used apple cider vinegar after baking soda scrub last night..looking good...stunk like a rotten apple! Coconut oil neutralized the smell..HOPEFULLY not the acid in the vinegar...

I didn't even have KP until I got pregnant! My friends keep saying "I'm never having kids!" when I tell them that.

Yes, unfortunatley my KP got really bad after having children. I used to only have it on my upper arms and it wasn't so bad. I didn't even know WHAT it was. It was mainly red and hardly any bumps. After my second child, however, it went all the way down my arms! Bumps everywhere and very red! It's so embarassing! I hate to even wear short sleeves! Anyway, today I did the meat tenderizer in the shower and then put on the Arbonne RE9 stuff. (My friend had some in stock! Yippee!) My skin feels smoother and seems less red, but this is only day one. It could be wishful thinking on my part! I will let you know how it goes, though.

some people are sensitive to coconut oil i hear, but if it works for you then cool! I really want to get some massage oil with JoJoba oil because that is great for unclogging pores. so what form is this papaya enzyme in? Liquid? And would using Vingegar on your skin make the acid-alkali go out of balance?

Origins has a scrub called Never a Dull Moment which has Papain in it, plus traditional mechanical scrubbin' particles. I intend to buy this today and see what happens. My housemate has a sample which I tried and I really like the thick consistency and the addictive albeit strong smell of this stuff.

They also have a cleanser in the same range which I might aquire as well and use it instead of a shower gel although 150ml doesn't last very long and it isn't exactly cheap.

quid- the natural properties of the vinegar are supposed to neuatralize the ph of the skin...balance it out. There is so much on it online.

Makeupalley people suggest usingt Braggs b/c it's sort of unrefined...and it's supposed to stink less than regular applce cider vinegar...

They also suggest putting a few drops of lavender oil...and/or lemon...and/or concentrated green tea...but I don't know if those mess with the ph of the vinegar....

I have no before pictures....for the reason that my skin looks great now...but probably due to the MOST SEVERE sunburn ever....about 2 weeks ago....I completely peeled and totally exfoliated...but the bumps were starting to come back slowly...that's when I got on the vinegar wagon..

Oh, I used cetaphil and meat tenderizer (bromelain or papain kind) to scrub gently...anf the other night I did baking soda....baking soda is like vinegar- it balances the ph of the skin...papain and bromelain are supposed to dissolve keratin. They say don't keep it on too long..and it could dissolve hair?

There is also stuff out there about pregnancy.

I'm NOT a medical professional....But these things seem pretty safe to me (if you're not pregnant or nursing I think)

I don' see the point ot buying products with this stuff in it. I want to go straight to the pure source...

p.s. I ordered papain powder on amazon....i will add it to cetaphil...I keep reading more each day and hope to find something that really works...

I've also yet to try my neostrata b/c of the sun burn 2 weeks ago...am eager to try that too

how to use papaya and vinegar?

I am very interested in this article 'coz I think this can be helpfull, but how to use the papaya and the vinegar? I mean, you make a mix of those 2 and rub it in the shower for example, or you rub it on your skin after the shower (like a body lotion) and leave it on?

Hi there. I really don't know how! Just found some ideas online...I will use the papain/papaya powder/meat tenderizer with some cetaphil...leave on for few minutes then shower...vinegar I spray on before bed...I ordered some lavender oil to put in it and may dilute with some green tea...but I am worried about the other stuff canceling out the vinegar PH....then use coconut oil...in the morning, no vinegar...so i don't smell...

Also, I am going to use baking sode sometimes instead of the papain/tenderizer...

I think meat tenderizer could give you a bad burnif it's left on...same for papaya and baking soda...

Hope it works...
