I know its late but If people ask you what you want Xmas ask for vouchers for Boots Holland Barrett, Health stores, superdrug, House of Fraser, John Lewis, Lush, Wilkinsons etc etc so you can buy stuff for your skin. Remember your skin is not just for Xmas its for life!!!!

14) Dry skin body brushing once a day. You can buy the body brushes from Boots, Body Shop etc.
I have been currently using elicina once a day (though I really should increase to twice a day), taking a multi-vitamin containing zinc and a a fish supplement, pouing Optimum Oil Blend on some of my food, drinking 1.5-2l of water a day, eating more healthily, using Gatineau when I shower, and dry skin body brushing now and then (consistency is my problem!). I know the intention was to get rid of KP, but in the process of doing all this, I have found that my health has improved, as well as my skin, cos of better diet, more water, and regular moisturiser usage. |

Hi,
I’m semi-new to the site, though I’ve been following the posts on and off for a year I guess. Unfortunately, I’m not new to KP which I must have had since childhood! Since my doctor has been fairly useless, I have taken it upon myself to thoroughly research KP. My problem is that I am quite good at finding products/treatments etc and buying them but absolutely useless at starting the process to eliminate KP! For anyone in England interested in a list of products/treatments/ways to beat this (and thank god the internet was invented in our time so we can share info this way and not feel as if we’re alone in this!), here’s some ideas. Just to let you know that this is literally a list as I haven’t tried them all but over my time of research, I have heard/read about these things. Be wary of a glossy magazine devoting a paragraph to KP. I know I feel so happy when I read anything about KP in Glamour magazine etc, believing that magazines are finally getting on board with this condition, but usually the advice/products are very general and normally geared for dry skin sufferers. List 1) Elicina. You can order it direct via their website, which I have done and it is very safe. www.elicinaeurope.com. It’s got cheaper and having used it for a week, seems to be working. 2) Gatineau AHA body lotion. It is £25.50 + £2.95 for p+p, for 400ml. You can only get it via the internet. I have safely ordered it a few times from www.thebeautyroom.co.uk. This is a very good all round moisturiser. As my KP is semi-severe on my arms only, I tend to use this product as a moisturiser – it’s very good for the rough skin on my legs and buttocks. 3) Dermalogica Body Hydrating cream. £30 for 473ml. Normally available from salons so you can bypass the p+p. Website is www.dermalogica.com - for more info on where to buy it. 4) Udo’s Choice. A very good oil to pour on cereals, salads, pasta, rice etc. Has sunflower oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil etc. Contains loads of Omega 3, 6 and 9s! Holland and Barrett used to stock it but no more. I guess you have to order via the net. 5) Holland and Barrett do something similar to Udo’s choice. It is called Optimum Oil Blend. 6) Taking a daily oily fish supplement, which you can buy from Boots, Holland and Barrett etc/Eating oily fish, such as salmon, sardines, tuna, mackerel. 7) Taking a daily multi-vitamin, especially if it has 100% zinc, which is excellent for great skin. 8) Eucerin, Oilatum, Aveeno etc. You can get these creams for dry skin from Boots. They are normally on a special shelf, i.e. you feel like an alien visiting that shelf, as if you’re set apart from the rest of the human species! 9) Drinking loads of water and having a very good diet, free largely of salty, sugary foods. 10) While not available to buy in shops in UK, Eucerin Dry skin relief intensive repair cream has helped some people with KP. You can get it from Amazon.com (and maybe Amazon.co.uk) 11) Calmurid. Again, it’s for dry skin, but was the first product recommended by my doctor. I think you can buy from Boots, but worth checking with them. 12) Exfoliating regularly 13) Coconut Body Scrub by The Body Shop. Some people have been recommending coconut oil/scrub for KP. If elicina works like a miracle, I will let you know. Good luck in beating this ridiculously annoying condition, which can be a challenge! |

Hello Brit KP ers
Thought it was time we came back to the front page again. Ive been interested in the mineral sulphur and its importance in skin health. Nowadays it is called MSM one thing it does is detoxify so the skin gets worse before it gets better as all the **** comes out (when you take it internally). MSM has to be petrochemical free so if its cheap its not the organic kind. "Higher Nature" has just bought out a new lotion for the face and body and one for hands and body their stuff is excellent quality has no SLS no parabens or mineral oil. You can also take it internally they do capsules and crystals for those who dont like tablets. http://www.highernature.co.uk/cgi-bin/HN.storefront/EN/ |

You are what you eat
Hi Brit Kpers
It seems that not only do we have to treat KP externally but I have found that certain foods make it worse. I have found through Kinesiology that gluten makes it worse along with cows milk. So you may have to watch what you eat whilst trying to get rid of your bumps. Also lack of fatty acids that oils up your skin from the inside makes the bumps more prominent. Something to think about. |

Hello Brit KPers
Was given sanctuary salt scrub (found in Boots)this year for a present. I found it to be pretty good for exfoliating. It has oils in it too to moisturise. The skin on thighs and buttocks are definitely much smoother. |

Hi There
Only discovered this site a few weeks ago and until then had no idea that anyone else suffered with the same bumpy skin that I do. Ive had Kp all my life (although only just found out its called Kp). I find it a real help to read this forum as I realise Im not suffereing alone. Does anyone know of any medical types that are actually working on a proper cure for this or is it being left to us to try everything under the sun from peanut butter to skin peeling? |

Hi GorillasRGreat
It seems that the most work is being done by fellow sufferers of kp, but I have to say I have had more suggestions and tips (and a few giggles) from this site than I have ever had. Its comforting to know that other people have the same problem and that your not being paranoid or petty. |

Aye up
Doctors dont recognise KP as a serious or medical condition they say there isnt a cure and only prescribe stuff thats usually given for excema. Fraid we only got ourselves to rely on but you will get better help and info on here than any doctor will give you. Have a good look at the most popular threads you might get something to suit you. But remember this is not a British site so some of the stuff mentioned you cant get in shops and pharmacies here. You can get stuff on the net but also be aware that the Post office will charge you and arm and a leg for customs. (Brit gov doesnt like people buying stuff from USA) so they charge you loads depending on the price and weight of the product. You should be able to get stuff form EBay and if you have a Paypal account the better. Also member "Annu's" stuff seems popular look at his site (hes a pharmacist). Happy browsing Subaya Krusty Pimples ![]() |

ANY BRITISH KPers out there?
Last week I started to use Green Clay in my bath and I noticed some improvement in my skin texture, and the bumps. Usually I think I am imagining
this as always trying to convince myself my skin is improving. My partner however, commented on the improvement in my skin, I did not ask or say I had changed my tolietries in any way to him but he did say my skin felt softer. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that! |

Hiya BritKPers
I have noticed on other threads the use of AHA lotions the are quite expensive but if you root around you can get some bargains and also look for the ones with free postage. This site (below) looks at all the suppliers and you can see whose doing the best price. PS. Start with the lowest potentcy first some of them are pretty strong especially to sensitive skin. From kent, recetnly diagnosed with UO as a result of having KP on the outer parts of my arms and there only. I am currently using Alphaderm cream on my face to get rid of the UO, the KP on my arms does not bother me ebcause it is only there.
Anyone else had a similiar experience? Thanks |
