I'm from Scotland! Apparentley there was a programme on Channel 5 sometime during this week, and it featured Keratosis Pilaris! I was so bummed that I missed it when my friend told me about it today! It said that Omega 3 would help.

For those of you who are interested in the thread about "oil pulling" make sure you get ORGANIC Oils as its a total waste of time trying to take toxins out of your body when the oil may be full of them!!!!

I'm a lone KP sufferer in Cumbria.
Yes, I saw this programme too. (It's the first time I realised my condition had a name.) They recommended taking Omega 3 & 6 and a "handful of linseeds every day". (A handful does seem an awful lot so I wonder if I've remembered the quantity right. ) Apparently, you should start to see results in about 2 weeks. Have eagerly started this, in the desperate hope of improvement.

Good luck.

heyyy i'm 15 and i've had KP all through my life but recently it's spread to literally everywhere on my body. my mum has it as well but she never had it when she was younger. I had it really bad on my face and tried salycylic acid but that seemed to do nothing except irratate my skin.
It was only when i did my Duke of Edinburgh expedition that i used St Ives Cleansing Wipes (they came free with a magazine haha!) my face actually totally cleared up when i woke up the next day! My skin was reallly smooth! I couldn't believe it! I also found that the combination of exercise that i did on the expedition helped to clear the skin on other parts of my body. Unfortunately that was only temporary but the skin on my face has remained almost completely clear and i'm very thankful! However it's still red.
I really recommend trying the wipes though cos they're pretty cheap. Just wipe all over your face but not too hard and then rinse a couple of times with water. I follow that with Neutrogena Ultimate Moisture Day Cream which i discovered from a friend by accident and is pretty pricey but lasts for agesss and makes your skin ultra soft. The st ives wipes are actually for removing make up as well but they still seem to work!
another thing that seems to clear my skin is the sea. i think it could be something to do with the salt. sun also helps or just generally warmer weather.
sorry about the long post! i hope it's some help to people!
does anyone else have KP all over their body? i've never seen anyone with it as bad as me.

Believe me you are not unique just read the accounts of others on this site. I have had it since I was 6 or 7. Mum took me to the hospital and everthing but they only gave me E45 cream. In the end my doctor who was quite elderly told my mum that I needed to take cod liver oil capsules (that was in the 1960s). It has improved now Im older only because Im much more clued up about my health.

Read what others on the site have posted and try see what works for you.

Good luck

Smile coconut oil

Yes I just bought the oil this week. Today was the first day I pulled with it (had been using EV Olive oil before) and rubbed it in after the shower. Because it is solid in our climate had to melt oil in a glass sitting in warm water to pull with, but for rubbing in the fact that it was soild made it easy to use. It melts in really easily and doesn't run all over the place as the almond oil I usually use does.

The pot does not say that it is Extra Virgin Coconut oil it just says "Holland and Barratt Coconut Oil is pure, unrefined coconut oil - nothing more!" So hopefully that means they don't use solvents on it.

Smells lovely and tropical Hope it does the trick!

hey, i'm a brit kp sufferer

I just bought virgin coconut oil ( the sites i've been looking at say that the "Extra" bit doesn't apply to coconut oil and that its only a marketing thing). Anyway i'm gonna put that on my skin but i was just wondering about oil pulling. Someone said it had to be organic? The sunflower oil i've been using isn't organic but recently i've starting using the coconut oil from holand and barrats that a few people have mentioned. Will that work?
Just want to know so i can change what i'm using asap if its not right.
thnx

If you read the above site they actually recommend Sunflower oil. I suggested organic because it tends to be GM and they use pesticides etc on the flowers. Whats the point in trying to get rid of toxins in the body when the oil you are using is full of them. Its available in most stores I got some organic Sun flower oil from ASDA for 89p.
