Ok so based on that study, our carotenoid levels are not significantly lower than those of people with normal skin... so what's wrong with us??

Thank you for that find! It seems to have answered the Vit A question, didn't it? Also, it's nice to know that some research is going on. Maybe we should direct our letters to the group who did this study and get them to run some trial tests on KP subjects testing other factors.

they;re wrong
well i think they're wrong. listen, this kp misery might be different for everyone....some people its vita a deficiency, others it's promoted by other things people have been posting such as low sebum production....but try vita a for you to see. don't take retinol form of vita a . start drinking carrot juice. once a day, then increase. there are no miracles, but i have done my research and vita a is a major regulator in epithelial tissue and keratin production of the skin (skin is all epithelial tissue). beta carotene is a safe form of vita a because it's not active. the body has to convert it to the active retinol form. i'm a molecular bio major at ucla so i understand the research i've done online about the biology of it.
beta carotene has saved my life...and i'm not exaggerating. daze |

Sun works!
I have KP and am really, really pale skinned. But when I tan, the redness on my arms is so much less noticeable. When I have no colour, the redness is more noticeable than anything else, but a tan help diguise the redness, and does actually take ot away in a large part.
But as i am pale skinned, it takes me ages to tan safely so its not an ideal solution as I live in the UK and all... Does anyone know if the products mentioned on this site (eucercin etc) are avilable in the UK? I ordered some KP duty off the internet, but it cost a fortune with shipping and everything. haven't seen a result yet, but then i used it last night for the first time! |
