Hi there this might seem like a long shot but i am willing to try anything so that there is new research and perhaps they can find a cure. When dermatoligists know that you have to much keratin that causes your KP is it so hard to find something that stops the keratin from creaing/building. (sorry my english is not the best but I hope you know what i mean.)
So today I wrote to Oprah Winfrey about KP and asked if she could contact researchers or medical companies or if she could maybe talk about this problem on her show just to get it out in the open. If someone else would write and asked the same maybe it could work, I know it is a long shot but there is nothing to loose. Maybe it is money that is the question and when big nedical companies realises that there is also money to make by getting a cure or treatment maybe then we have a shot. So long!!!!! and please anyone who wants to give this a try you can also write to Oprah. The more the better. |

If you have written to Oprah please let us know on this page. I am going to write her over and over again and it would be nice to be able to tll that i know that many of us have written to her. Does anyone have some other idea who or where to turn to. I am going to contact medical companies in Sweden to see if anyone can help us or maybe tell us who to contact.
Ok thats it for now. Good night... |

Well done for taking this action lowesmamma hopefully Oprah will help us. I am interested that you are writing to medical companies in Sweden about this also a very positive step. Keep up the good fight.
I emailed a company called selfheal in NZ, they have recommended Swedish Bitters cream or Bush Bitters cream. I will post about this to everybody before I try because I'm finding so many recommendations that I am just at the moment compiling a list of things to try & if someone wanted to try it in the meantime & it helped then that would be great. |

I wouldn't reccomend something to somebody else unless YOU YOURSELF tried it. Don't waste other peoples time. They might switch from something that's working to your "idea", and get totally f*ked up. I HATE when people do that. At least tell them that you *heard* about it, and that you don't know if it's true or not.

Ok you seem to have issues....
If it's working why would they swap? People are likely to try new methods because their way didn't or doesn't work. With the link between Sweden it seemed appropriate to mention. Just trying to help. Plus I have spent ages searching the net so I have decided to put all of the options suggested into a post (despite your comments) because it is access to this kind of information in one spot that we are lacking. |

What is both of your problem. I never told anybody to stop anything i just wonder why nobody is intrested in trying to find a cure or a total treatment. Read what i have written before you comment.

Honestly I don't think Oprah will care about our skin problem. Maybe she would if it was something that only related to black people. But she won't do anything for us. She's too busy talking to celebrities about their problems and raising all the "issues" that black people face. I'm not in any way racist, but she only seems to be interested in things if it deals with black people.

I have been visiting this site for about a year now and surprised out how polite and kind everyone has been. A few of these posts on this subject have turned negative for no apparent reason.
To the last post, I think your comments are quite insensitive. Yes Oprah is black, and she does focus many episodes that affect black women/people. Is that not her right and of her personal concern as well? However, to say she only is interested in the problems of blacks is short-sighted. The majority of her show can universally apply to everyone. Please keep this forum respectful and open-minded. Thank you. |

To Aquarius 84,
You know what's ironic about your comment. Many black people feel Oprah panders to white people and only deals with black issues, when their catastrophic like Hurricane Katrina or celebrity-related like her "Legends Ball". By the way, she did honor several white women at that ball like Diana Sawyer and Emma Thompson, even though it was primarily black women. I'd say 95% of the authors who become overnight millionaires from her "Book Club" (i.e lying James Frye) are white authors and many guests (i.e Dr. Phil or Nate Burkess) that become overnight celebrities are white. Furthermore, the majority of her producers and upper level managers at Harpo Productions are white women. It seems black celebrities can't show any solidarity or celebration of one's culture or struggles, without being deemed reverse racist or pro-black militants. Aquarius, here's a homework assignment. Watch Orpah for the next 30 days and keep records of how many shows are black-oriented. I guarantee you it's less than 10% over a months period. The real reason why Oprah won't be bothered, is because KP isn't life-threatening, extremely common (that 50% number is bogus and we all know it), or major physical disfigurements like those covered on recent shows (two women: one set on fire by her boyfriend at work and one shot in the face by her boyfriend at close range). As an African American male, I notice she has many shows, that place black men in a violent, criminal light. This can be unsettling considering the pattern of mainstream new channels (Michael Moore touched on this in "Bowling for Columbine"). These two shows were examples since the women were black and she has an upcoming show highlighting a black man convicted for child molestation. The movies "The Color Purple" and "Beloved", also portrayed black men in a negative light. However, I understand those realities in our culture and don't fault Oprah for that, like some African American men do Aquarius, not all shows she does with black guests are necessarily flattering or self-aggrandizing (see above). She did a great show several weeks ago with "Supersize Me" director Morgan Spurlock about poverty in Middle America and one dealing with the sorry state of education in the United States with Bill and Melinda Gates. Both shows had more segments with whites than blacks. Basically you seem to be cherry-picking and using selctive reasoning in your evaluation of Oprah. Your logic is what makes it so hard for black politicians to get elected to statewide office, because some whites think once elected they're agenda will only benefit black folks. |

KP affects both white & black people. We are all in the same boat. Let's all try to keep up with the positivity with enough of us trying out new things we will hopefully find a successful remedy soon (with or without celebrity help). I'm sure we all agree we care more about our annoying red bumps than we do politics :-) Best of luck to everyone trying to cure or treat their KP.
