This is so ironic I always used to envy those who did sports like tennis etc because I would never dare to bare my thighs the way they could confidently do, I avoided sports when I was younger because I felt silly wearing track pants, so loving the 3/4 length pants that are out now!!! When I visited America for a few months at age 14 my KP cleared up I assumed that this was because I was in the sun ALOT at the pool. But I also worked out at the local racquet ball club I did Step class 2 x a week & I lifted weights, played racquet ball AND I used a steam room pretty much 2-3 x a week!! I can't for the life of me think of what body wash etc I used but I never exfoliated I was hard out with hair removal (being at the pool nonstop) & used hair removal cream -can't remember the name of it an American brand that said it also had hair retardent in it. I have just started doing Vibra-train 3 x a week, www.vibra-train.co.nz it doesn't really make me sweat (since I have been on this site I've become paranoid over the KP on my arms, I guess I was focused on my legs but since my arms respond better to treatment I thought hey why not clear them up completely if I can) anyway Vibra-train increases the circulation, I have noticed my arms are looking good. I am also using Calmurid Cream, ASAP AHA exfoliating scrub with a body shop exfoliating towel & QV body wash which could be why. Maybe it is a cumulation of lack of sweat & poor circulation & that also makes sense because some people find when they exfoliate it improves - when we exfoliate we increase blood circulation. I hope it clears my legs up sooooo bad, we had a back to school night at work the other night, I didn't go because I knew a lot of the ladies would be wearing short skirts & I felt I would look out of place if I didn't & just couldn't bring myself to be put through the jealousy pangs.. Feels so unfair sometimes, I know there are worse conditions but this one is fairly crippling socially sometimes... Like a big secret...
Just a thought but maybe KP is worse in Winter because we have much less chance of sweating in Winter!! I think it is likely to be a number of factors. Sweating makes sense. I'm going to try to see if there is a steam room that I can start using too. Oh & I take it you realise from the quip about the short skirts I am female, drink lot's of water, love healthy food, slim 24 European. So if you are reading this start exercising, even if it doesn't clear up your KP it will stimulate your hormones in a good way & send out soem endorphins to help you through what really isn't such a big deal in the big scheme of things ok :-) |

Maybe working out just improves one's skin condition overall since you have improved circulation in your body and your antibodies can get around and help fight off infections in the skin. But I'm not too sure on the sweating theory, because I go to Hong Kong in the summer where I pretty much sweat day and night and my KP isn't improved at all as compared to when I am in San Francisco.
I have never tried any KP treatments and have never used any face/body lotion, but I think i'm going to pick up two of the current Neutrogena products: Healthy Skin Face Lotion (for sensitive skin) and Neutrogena Body Scrub. Since they contain alpha hydrozy acid and Salicylic Acid, they might work? I'm very new at this and really want to know what everyone thinks......... |

I was a college athlete and looking back on it my skin was great back then. I always thought it was because I was taking at least two showers everyday because of all of our practices. I had a baby and didn't work out much or very intensely while pregnant and my KP is so bad now. Maybe I just need to get my butt out there and work out like I used to.

I use to work out 5 days a week and my KP didn't even really exist then (I was in FLEX MAG. about a year and a half ago. April 2005 with Batista)... Over the last 9 months, I haven't worked out as much, and my KP has worsen... I think there is a tie in there between the sweating and KP... When I sweat my face looks smoother, and I think it's b/c your pores open up... It only makes sense IMO...... I will post more later, but what I wanted to ask was, does anyone have dry scalp too? Am I the only one on this site who has KP and dry scalp.... They have to be related to, b/c it has to do with the hair follicle..... If so, could someone tell me the shampoo you use/used? Oh, my KP is on my head and face only.... Not all over my face, just my nose, upper cheeks, and forehead. It's not bad in my beard, and I'm hairy (I'm Italian)..

Yes, I have a very dry scalp. I used Head and SHoulders, but it only works sometimes. I heard Neutrogena T-Gel works really well, but it smells SO bad.

I work out vigously almost daily and my skin has never changed because of that. When I take a break from working out my skin stays the same. I beleive exercise help overall but not for KP.

I'm in great shape, and a soccer player. I have kprf almost exclusively, though.

I almost never sweat. It takes a lot to get the outside of my skin even moist - and that's usually just my face. I honestly believe that it is because of my KP that I can't get sweat out.

Hi..I'm 18 and I work as a fashion model so I would say I am in very good shape and I work out a lot..but I still have it (on my arms and lower body)...I tried using the sauna ( 5 times a week for a few months) but it didn't help! Friend told me that only fat people should have that kind of redness on their body which was very rude of my "friend" to say. Either way I am 5'9 and weigh 100 pounds so I know it has nothing to do with fat..
Hope your bodybuilding routine helps you! Take care ![]() |

yes i do believe sweating helps because i went to a doctor once and he told me the condition i have is because of ungrown hair...he advised me to scrub it hard during shower and dry it with hair blower because i have to treat it like real hair and sweating does help open pores for hair to grow out and so a sauna room might be a good way...i believe all this but it really doesn't seem to work though...
