first magazine derm swears by this;

"i love using this towel for 'chicken skin.'" - marcy street, m.d.
keratosis pilaris - the skin condition that causes rough bumps on the upper arms, thighs and back - affects 45 percent of american women. "kertinocytes, the cells that manufacture skin protein, overproduce to form mounds that are resistant to the skin's renewal process," explains marcy street, m.d., founder of of doctor's approach dermatology and laser center in east lansing, michigan. the tool she swears by to remove those tough bumps: a nylon body-polishing towel. two weeks of scrubbing with it in the shower daily will result in noticeably smoother skin. (then use it just 3 time weekly to maintain results.) one to try: the body shop exfoliating towel ($5.00 at thebodyshop.com).

this is an article from the 5/15/06 issue of first magazine. i haven't ordered the towel yet but thought i'd share the article with ya'll. the article says "the treatments beauty professionals recommend to their friends."

KP on thighs is on a distinguished road
Hello, I have this exfoliating towel from the body shop, it is good for keeping away ingrown hairs. I wish it did completely clear the skin of KP as well but it hasn't done so for me. I would say at this price though it can't hurt for others to try it & it has a multi-use.
Oops nearly forgot to say thank you for passing this on, it is great to hear any recommendations.

I have used this towel for years (well, a few different ones, to be exact). I originally really liked it because it was long enough that I could scrub my back with it. Yeah, it certainly doesn't completely clear KP, but it's easier and more sanitary than things like loofahs.

Worth a try, try using an urea cream after you get out of the shower. I use Galderma's Calmurid Cream. I have just started using my daily exfoliating facial scrub 'ASAP brand' (Australian) it has AHA's in it, I am using the towel to rub it in with before washing off. My arms respond well to this treatment but it doesn't work for the KP on my thighs :-(
