I sometimes put Cetphil on afterwards. It does not have have petro products or parbens in it. This has really helped my skin a lot, my kp is about 75% gone after a month. Keeping up the routine is key

Ive been using Eucerin 10% urea lotion after my shower and its been a great help.
the trick is to put it on wet skin, not dry. the Urea absorbs the water into the skin and holds it there leaving your skin moist. Its not an instant improvement, but i have been seeing gradual changes, and i am quite satisfied. Im going to continue doing this and im quite sure that i will eventually see amazing results! |

I bought some coconut oil today from whole foods and I cannot wait to see how it works! While I was there, I talked with one of the store employees, who does not have a condition, but she did say it has made her skin and her great and she also puts a little bit on her toast every morning!

Hello Everyone
I just found this site and am pretty happy! I didn't know we had a support group, it is nice to find other rough skinned people. I have had KP on my face, arms, chest, and back since I was a very little girl. I've gotten use to it and sometimes forget about it, until someone points it out saying"do you have goose bumps?'' "Is that a rash" "Oh your skin feels like sandpaper" I don't think it's that bad but people can be funny sometimes. well I read through this forum and am really happy to hear about the coconut oil, I've eaten it before but never thought of putting it on my skin, this seems like a much healtier less exspensive way to smooth out the skin so I'm going out to my local health store to pick some up after this! Thanks everyone! jazmin |

rubra faceii
The bumps really arent that bad on my face, it is just the reddish look of this pentagonal shape with a hole in the center of normal skin (I call it the Jelly Doughnut under my skin...). the bumps dont really concren me it is the redness. I am going to have a number of laser treatments starting up soon, so hopefully I can report back if it has improved anything. Remember I only have rubra faceii
so I can't say for sure if it would work on arms and legs. |

Urea Cream did not work for me either. I used it for months and no improvemnts. I also hate the doctors that say, "Well, it's just something you'll have to live with, you can't be so self conscious..."
GO SCREW YOURSELF! I have to live with this horrible thing that stands out like nothing else, the least you could do is cut my cheeks off! Think of something smart people and fix us now! Sorry, I really need to vent or I'll get to depressed. Thankyou. -Phil |

flushedface,
I'm new to this forum and just reading some old posts...I saw awhile back you asked for any recommedations on paraben free baby products. In case you're still searching... "Earths Best" has a baby line w/o parabens. I've used their sunscreen and shampoo/body wash on my son. Earths best is put out by "Jason" cosmetics which by the way has an awesome rose/glycerine lotion.... I stopped all paraben products when I found out about their possible link to breast cancer. You can find products that do not contain them. I don't want to take any chances. Almost all my aunts and uncles have battled some kind of cancer and I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer last year... |

Thanks gingercat! I was still looking for something. Is this something that can be found at a pharmacy or major grocery store?

flushedface,
I bought it at Wild Oats which is kinda like Whole Foods. If you don't have one of those nearby, you might try any health food store. I'm not sure if you can get it online. You could check for a website too. |

stop using the sponge or stone. Try to be gentle with your skin and massaging the oil in very lightly under water in the shower. If you have KP really bad, it will probably take a lot longer than 3 weeks to see some improvement.

Hi all again - just checking in a few months later. I still use my coconut oil and have about a quarter of my original tub still left. I was so convinced I was imagining the improvement I tried stopping for a couple of days recently, and lo and behold the bumps came back. Two more days of rubbing in my Coconoil and they started to go again.
I don't really need to come to this site anymore as I now know what is my cure. I thought for a while my diet might be helping, but I've now lost over 28lbs since July 1 and yet my bumps came back without the coconut oil. So, I have my cure, it's me and coconut oil forever more! I will still come back here and read though as I only stumbled across this site in June, and within a few days I had bought my coconut oil and have never looked back. To those wondering what/how/why .. don't wonder, just try it. It's natural stuff, so won't harm you. |

so I can't say for sure if it would work on arms and legs.
