I am actually thinking of using it on my 2 youngest (1 and 3) instead of baby lotion. Since I only lotion them up at night after baths, I do not think it would be too messy. I am going to check with their doctor first though. My son (age 10) that is using it has very mild KP on his arms and increasing KPRF on his face. He is not using it on his face though and that is where the real problem is for him. His arms have cleared up 100%- nothing is there at all. Now on to the face!

AldaraDelilah-

The Extra Virgin is pure white and solid when not hot. It looks kinda like the hard crisco for baking. When I use it in the shower, it melts pretty quickly because of the heat. Yes I lather it on and shave. Then I rinse off quickly and get out of shower. The ONLY problem I have had was with the little hairs I shaved off sticking to my skin because of the oil. They are easily brushed away once the oil sinks in.

I'm still using the stuff. I have gone from the full on slap it on in the shower (and blocking the shower up) to using it as a moisturiser after showering. I don't think I could ever stop using it now. This hot weather in the UK soon melts it in its pot though, I'm having to keep in the fridge and take out when I shower and s****e some off the top. My KP is definitely better in that there's not so much to pick. If I'm super-critical and stand doing the KP check in the mirror in direct sunlight I can still see bumps, but as I don't tend to feel them when I run my hands over my arms I'm not picking, and my arms are for the first time in forever scab free. I reckon I have one bump per square inch or so now on my upper arms and right now none on my lower arms. I am still having that weird thing where some of the bumps actually release the little keratin thing so I look (or do my habitual stroke of upper arms) and see them sticking out, get the tweezers, pull them out and they just close up. Now, is it the Coconoil, or is it the fact I'm not in a bump-pick-scab cycle and my arms are healing? Either way, I dont care, I love the smell, I love the way it just soaks in. I'm hooked.

Hey everyone!
Just thought I'd check back in. I've been using the coconut oil for a week now and I really like it. But, unfortunately, I am just not getting the results with it that most are. It does make my skin really soft and smell really nice but the bumps on my arms feel, almost, more *****ly! I just don't understand it. And I also have kp on my legs, bad. They are soooooo red and rough all over and I don't think the oil has helped at all. My kp used to be worse on my arms. I really thought that was bad. Until I had a child and it spread to my shinns. Okay, I can deal with my arms and my upper thighs. I have my whole life, but my shinns! I have never wore shorts because of it but now I can't even wear capris this summer. I have never seen my kp worse. My self-esteem is at it's worse, too. Please help. I think I need a little confidence boost!

hey Krystalite, I think i've been using it for almost a week now too. Mine has gotten drastically better- the best i've seen it in my life. But the after the first few days I started using it the bumps felt more *****ly... but i think that was because the bumps were "drying out"? I don't know.. but after that it got a lot better.. I hope it gets better for you too...

Hey Krystalite,
I have been using the oil for a week now as well and I am feeling the same thing on one arm. It is alot better than it was....but it is *****ly. I think as diamndprncss said, it is part of the process. I have one arm that is worse than the other....always has been. Now, the bad arm, looks like the better arm used to. So, major improvement. Not as "instant" as some other lucky people....but anything is better than it was. I say stick with it. I think it may be the only thing that is going to do anything, without having to use something with a chemical base that could be potentially harmful. Ya know? Anyway, just remember, that you are not alone in this KP fight. Sending some good energy your way! Take care.

i also wanted to add that I am starting to see more patches of skin that bump and redness free. This is really exciting for me because before I started using the oil, my arm was just covered with the bumps... there were no smooth patches at all. I just hope these patches keep getting bigger! The only problem I foresee now is the scarring from previous KP. Maybe mederma will help... as that helped me a lot with acne scars on my face, but I don't know when I would apply it because I don't think it would absorb well after putting on the oil... so maybe before putting on the oil?

Keep on going! My bumps did the same thing and I think it was b/c they were drying out. They are not like that anymore and I have been using the coconut oil for over 3 weeks ( maybe 4?). Just keep it up and try to add an internal change like drinking carrot juice or taking vitamins. This is not just a topical problem so you need to attack it both topically and internally.

i'm sending the husband out to the health food store to get me some EVCO today! i'm excited to start using it.

question...do you all scrub before you use it or have you stopped exfoliating all together? if so what do you use to scrub and cleanse with?

thanks and i'll make sure to update.

oh, i also plan to take it internally as well, but read to also take probiotics because the EVCO is antibacterial.

i cannot scrub or exfoliate- it really irritates my skin. Give it a try with something gentle and soothing but you could do without as well.

vbmenu_register("postmenu_18872", true); boodle1977, thanks so much for sharing!!! I've noticed it on my son as well, 19 months old, and the pediatrician said the same thing, just baby ezcema and to put Hydrocortisone cream .. which helped some.. but it hasn't gone away. So perhaps i'll try the coconut oil on him as well. Thanks everyone so much for sharing what works and doesnt. And yes, we do have some slight allergies, mostly to pollen and dust. My husband is allergic to cats and everything under the sun, but doesn't have kp. But i am also making sure now that i'm taking my vitamins. so hopefully that will help as well.

Krystalite:
Chin up... i totally understand you. the Coconut oil has helped tremendously on my arms.. but i have noticed that my thighs are not quite responding the in the same good way. ( i'm still hoping though. Try taking vitamin A suppliments.. but watch out.. you can overdose on that vitamin... check out what the recommended daily dosage is and make sure you reach around that... that may help out... i plan on starting that and i'll try to keep everyone posted on the progress.

has anyone tried salex lotion? when my dermatologist told me the bumps on my legs were kp, they prescribed salex and i've been using it for a while, but nothing has happened... i figured since it wasn't working i would stop using it, but after a month the bumps got a little worse... mine aren't red, only sometimes when i get out of the shower, but they feel like i have constant goosebumps... any feedback would be appreciated, and i also intend on trying the coconut oil... thanks!

i've tried using a loofa and gentle soap, but no results. my KP is very bumpy. someone suggested using a pumice and dandriff shampoo...anyone had good results with that? i'm afraid it might be too harsh.

I can't do the pumice thing .. seems barbaric. I have often used a nail brush .. that's actually quite nice, and very abrasive, but doesn't s****e.
