There is no redness nor are there bumps
Make your kp care the last thing you do in the shower. Make sure you are pumicing lightly, use a mild soap* like Grandpa's Oatmeal, Love-my-Loofah or Kiss My Face Pure Olive Oil Bar Soap while you're pumicing to act as lubrication. If you use the pumice without soap its just rock & water friction on skin, that is sure to cause redness and irritation. Next step is to slather Extra Virgin Coconut oil (food grade) on kp site. Mine is on both upper arms, shoulders and back, I grease up all areas and then gently rub (I repeat NOT BRISKLY) under the running water the EVCO into my skin. Seal the deal (aka your pores) with cooler water, just as you would when (if) you condition your hair. *make sure there are no fragrances or synthetic or harsh ingredients ~MB |

I don't know, try it and let us know.
Acne and kp are different from eachother. With acne you need to cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturize. If you don't moisturize after you tone, your skin will compinsate by producing too much oil, this combined with the sweat and dirt you come into contact every day may clog pores and turn into acne. Check out Burt's Bees system for oily skin Garden Tomato Complexion Soap, Citrus Facial Scrub, Garden Tomato Toner, Marshmallow Vanishing Cream if you wear no makeup or Tinted Facial Moisturizer if you do wear make up. |

exfoliate
you should use an exfoliating scrub like the Burt's Bees Citrus Facial Scrub I mentioned.
Are you of any descent with thick hair genes? I used to get ingrown hair after I shaved my bikini area, even waxing. In an unrelated story, I thought I had an ingrown hair in said place last night. It was a freakin' tick! A smallish one, not sure if it was a deer tick, I saved it in a little bottle of rubbing alcohol. Hope I don't have the Lyme Disease! ~mB |

Morning Bell,
What do you do for ingrown hair? I get it anywhere I pluck, shave or wax? Exfoliating in the shower every two days does not seem to stop it from happening? And as I only have kp on my face I am not sure I want to use pure coconut oil on my cheeks. The only moisturizer I have found that is free of excess toxins is by Dr. Hauschka but this is expensive. And I was looking for ingredient lists of products when I came across this which gives a list of all harmful ingredients and how they affect the body. http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep2/ |

i bought coconut oil and tried it in the shower. It makes my skin feel so nice, its really moisturising and you dont have to moisturise once your out of the shower and it smells yummy too. I've only used it twice so my kp hasnt magically disappeared yet but ill message in a few days to let you guys know if it works for me too.

mjmcdnld,
I was tring to email you directly to tell you about ingrown hairs, it's kind of a private matter that I wouldn't like to post here.... rachel18, did you pumice or exfoliate before you oiled? It seemed to work within the first 2 days but everyone is different. Hoping you'll see results soon b/c I am suprised at mine. ~mB |

Morningbell: im body brushing on dry skin then using exfoliating gloves in the shower and then applying coconut oil and letting it sit for a while.
Darlians: you don't have to buy the nultiva brand, just go to a health food store and ask them if they sell coconut oil, just make sure its 100% organic extra virgin coconut oil, which most healthfoods store should have. |

Does the coconut oil make you feel greasy or oily during the day? |

Thank you
I have just purchased some coconut oil off the internet and look forward to my delivery towards the end of the week. This site is extremely useful and very pleased that I have found such interesting information.
I have been struggling with KP since my teens, I am now 36 and dreaded the Summers of not being able to wear desirable clothing such as shorts or teshirts due to the bumps on the back of my thighs, upper arms and also marks under the skin. My ex used to think it occured when I was stressed, but I did notice an improvement when I was pregnant. Last year I developed psioris on my legs and the doctors just put me on steroids, it was not very pleasant. Anyway I saw an interesting article at the time in the Sunday Times magazine regarding this product called Simba from the Litle Herbal Company http://www.littleherbal.co.uk/acatalog/Articles.html, it's derived from a plant in Africa. I applied it and it was amazing, it cleared my skin completely and have never needed to top up. Well I will post my progress and fingers crossed.xx |

sorry slight error
Further to my last post the name of the product/cream that I applied to the psioris was Themba http://www.littleherbal.co.uk/acatalog/Themba.html not Simba which is another related product.
It worked for me and have never since had to reapply any further cream or seen any of the Psioris resurace on my legs. |

I'm definately getting the organic extra virgin coconut oil, too! I can't wait to use it! I noticed when I did a search for the oil on eBay that it brought up coconut oil caplets that you take by mouth. It listed multiple benefits for taking the supplements, but I wonder if they would do anything for KP...maybe work from the inside out? Any thoughts?
